:) ya that is planned for the future builds but at immediate development recitation and its related features will be coming like multiple times recitation of a single ayat, recitation dock (double row feature), etc and that too in very tight schedule i.e. before @MSameer goes on vacation for two weeks... ;)

Am I the only one who is finding difficulty in downolading the archive from Zekr.org? I tried about 10 times now with different mirrors for Sudaish and the download fails after around 25%. I tried other files also, same result.

I wanted to create a new release to fix some small issues but I'm running out of time here. See you guys in a few weeks. Will start development again after I come back.

If there's a download problem then you can try a different mirror. That's the only think I can suggest.

Create a custom recitation for the translation and switch between them for now using the T icon.

Later we can find a better way.

I still need to go through the last few posts and gather all ideas.

Re: [Announce] Holy Quran for N900

1. I created a folder named "Ghamdi" in /home/user/MyDocs/.n900-quran/recitations/

2. then to this newly created folder: /home/user/MyDocs/.n900-quran/recitations/Ghamdi/ I copied two items:
A) a folder named "ghamdi-40kbps-offline" (containing the mp3 files, and other two files: Ghamadi_40kbps.txt and info.txt)
B) and recitation.properties (it was named "ghamdi-40kbps-offline.properties" earlier)

3. then as in the instructions, I created info.ini file. with the contents:
Code:

[recitation]
name=Ghamdi

and placed it in the folder containing mp3 files: /home/user/MyDocs/.n900-quran/recitations/Ghamdi/ghamdi-40kbps-offline

still unable to play recitations. kindly point out what went wrong

--
In the "unable to play" pop up alert message, it shows the mp3 file is under a subfolder (named as the surah number). but in the recitation folder (ghamdi-40kbps-offline), there are no subfolders..

for example, refer to the screenshot in this post:
http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/...921-180303.png

in the error message there is a subfolder /001/. where as in the "sudais-64kbps-offline" folder there are no subfolders..

note: I had Zekr installed beforehand (with functioning recitation). So I didn't download anything recently; just copied all the above mentioned files from Zekr installation directory

Re: [Announce] Holy Quran for N900

remove info.ini

Re: [Announce] Holy Quran for N900

removing info.ini didn't make any difference.

do you have the latest version .. (something like 4.0-2)..

MSameer 2011-10-03 18:18

Re: [Announce] Holy Quran for N900

Then remove recitation.properties and recreate info.ini

I don't know what zekr does to the recitation when you import them.

This one will be coming to Harmattan N9 once it gets all the functions working and major problems solved on N900...

@MSameer: are you back?

It was originally written for Harmattan. Check here: http://forum.meego.com/showthread.php?p=26839

I just didn't get much feedback and then decided to port it to N900 as N9 wasn't available at that time.

I'll start using my N9 soon which means that I'll port it again to Harmattan. The only problem is there's noting like maemo extras which helps to rapidly develop the app.

Re: [Announce] Holy Quran for N900

I'm in a bit of a situation here. I broke my N900 and I'm now using the spare one I had.

This simply means that I cannot test or fix any issues with CSSU.

Not sure what to do now. Is there anyone who can volunteer to fix CSSU issues ?

I know but I cannot blindly fix issues. I guess the only option I have is to drop the support for CSSU.

It's documented in the application. Settings -> Manage recitations -> add.

You can also check here: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=389

I think, you should contact a community developer (see p.s.1) to add support to cssu edition of this app i.e. only when there is a problem with it... till then you can just update new features and some patches to the stock n900 version... and whenever there is a problem with this app due to the cssu we can just call that developer to fix it.

(p.s.1) a muslim developer ...

(p.s.2) some suggested names... ejasmudar, MAG or someone we have a lot of them here...

Re: [Announce] Holy Quran for N900

@Transtech, unfortunately I am not really developer. I more of a script kiddy.

@Msameer, I have some small experience in Shell Scripting, python and C/C++. Is there anything i can do?

MSameer 2011-12-02 23:00

Re: [Announce] Holy Quran for N900

0.4.1-1 is there. Not many changes:
* Fixed the typo in the recitations installation instructions
* Took the new logo into use (Finally).

I was busy with the N9/Harmattan port and with work.

I'm thinking about implementing zip support for recitations so one would be able to download a zip file from zekr.org and simply use it without unzipping by just copying it to the device.

I guess that's the only change that will come in the next version.

I still cannot test CSSU so let's hope it won't get broken by accident.

I also cannot do much testing for N900 as I stopped using the beloved phone :(

However, the same QML and C++ code is used for both so I don't expect breakage.

Thats a good Idea... but I doubt the recitation performance will be same as unzipped one.

1. if you implement zipped files support there must be support for unzipped ones too. ;)

2: can you please centerize the floating bar below the verse (ayat), it would then be perfect.

3. Few verses (arabic) cut off screen when the font size is increased

anyways thanks a lot. :)

1) I don't know. Let's see how it goes.
I noticed that a lot of people are having problems with unzipped translations so maybe the zipped ones will make it easier for them.

One can also cache the unzipped ones at the cost of consuming more space. The cache could be emptied regularly by the application. Let's just see how the performance will be.

2) That's easy to do. Will do it soon.

3) Which ones are being cut off ? And what's the font size ?

I've been thinking that I should remove the current font size setting and make it simpler: Tiny, small, Normal, Large, Huge.

I don't know. It should work but it needs MeeGo Touch to manage the screen orientation. If MeeGo Touch is there then it should work. If it's not there then it will need some work. Someone has to test it :)
