Kontact in itself isn't an e-mail client, isn't it? I.e. it's usually works in combination with Kmail and etc. So even with Kontact, one still needs some e-mail client if I understood correctly.

Unless Jolla are going to release their own mobile e-mail client as open source, this can become a good potential default client for Nemo, if someone would decide to make a mobile UI adaptation.

Jolla cant make the e-mail client fully open source if they want support to for example: Microsoft propiriatary Exchange protocol.

But I hope atleast they make the UI open and some plugin API for thirdparty closed Exchange support etc.. And use existing open IMAP API:s (if there is good once).

Is there some overall introduction to compiling images? The guides on the mer wiki describe the basic process, but I still don't *really* know what I'm doing.

I've gotten the Tizen developer device to "boot" nemo, but it doesn't go past the blue Nemo picture. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it to just hide that picture so that I can maybe see where it hangs.

Any ideas?

I was stuck with this problem and couldn't find the answer anywhere. The solution for me was to boot Maemo and give my N900 a good charge. After that it booted fine into Nemo.

A new snapshot of Nemo Mobile for N900/N950/N9/x86/VM is available. This snapshot is the first one that is distributed in our new servers and is also the first one that was build by using zypp backend in image building. Also new patterns are taken in use which make it much easier to update the device with new packages in the future. More information about using new patterns in updating in our wiki.

i wrote it to my SD card and checked it on my N900. It's faster from the previous version. but settings problem as i have mentioned before has not been solved. I can't scroll down in settings app. Is anyone else is facing this problem also ? if yes then please do confirm.

Now that there's a Nemo sub-forum, perhaps it's appropriate to be moving this thread there:
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...18#post1318718
Then again it's only a temporary sub, when proper restructuring takes place, that sub-forum will prob. be moved elsewhere.
(Reported my post to mods for them to decide...)

Same thing here:
* the device is noticeably more responsive;
* settings do not scroll as well.

More:
* my wifi network hangs after random intervals, but does not disconnect. A manual disconnect/connect cycle solves it for a while;
* while in terminal some key events appeared to be lost;
* the power menu does not appear correctly some times.

No, that's not the case. I just tried NaviFirm and it still works.
Tell me what variant you have and I will post you the link you can use to download it...

Do you have a download link for that or a link to the source code repository?

for some reason I never saw this(?)

git is available at https://github.com/nemomobile/qmlmail, and it is now in the repositories too. the largest missing piece is an account configuration. i've started some work on accounts in the new settings application (https://github.com/nemomobile/qmlsettings) but I lack the understanding of accounts to make it work.

perhaps someone can give a shot working on that?

So here is life again?

I still cannot set up a WiFi. I have a hidden SSID at home and do not want to change that. I had no success in getting a WLAN connection.

And juiceme: sometimes Nemo feels like it hangs and I cannot type or scroll. May this be because of second level cache? If so maybe we (you?) could inform the Nemoers? So we get this fix included in the Nemo kernel?

Well, I use visible SSID and strong enough encryption so I have no problems with that :D
I guess there might be some problems with hidden networks, at least I remembet Android has some issues there.

Actually, the L2 cache enabling patch orginated from the Nemo/Mer community. They had it in the kernel before it was taken into Harmattan and Nitdroid kernels...
Hence if there are some issues with device speed I guess it is something else, propably nothing as easily solved.

Ah I see, okay!
But then I do not get it why it is sometimes so slowly (never happened that way on N900, older builds). I do use it on N9 with ubiboot (kexec).
No one else experiencing this?

--edit
Oh and I do have it on partition no. 7 (not 4). Could this be the cause somehow? Some periodical checks/tasks, hardcoded p4 access?

AM I blind or what?

Cant install Nemo on my N9. Look at the wiki howto gives no solution.

Thing is I cant flash the FIASCO image found at the specified link in this thread. it only whines about:

And digging TMO does only give hint about device must be unlocked? WTF? Isnt above what unlock is about?

Re: Nemo mobile discussions

You need to not have a lock code set up, as non-Nokia kernels can't access the memory where the lock code is stored. Just remove your lockcode.

(you could also disable the warning if you want before flashing kernel, there's a command I don't remember now)

mike, what are you going to do?
Flash the kernel? Then you are missing the --flash-only=kernel flag (most probably from above try). Or try to flash the named image (then -F instaed of -a, but that will flash your rootfs)?

And no, this has nothing to do about "unlock". With above flashed kernel you will enter "open mode" with all other optimizations/pros/cons/problems. Read about open mode and password/accounts problems and make yourself a clear view if you are ready for that.
You may also have a look at ubiboot thread of juiceme!

Its a phone with broken simcard slot (I have three devices) so perfecly fine for me to even wipe out harmattan. But I following the guide on merproject wiki.

https://wiki.merproject.org/wiki/Nemo/Installing section: Persistent Single Boot by Flashing the Dual Boot

if thats wrong way todo it, the wiki should be updated.

However I did do this on my other device BEFORE broken Nokia killed the firmware server. But don't remember if it was thjis way. Would be nice if there were an uptodate install guide for N9 for those willing to play with this!

Yeah, that's what I meant. If it's not that, I don't really know what is it. I would try flashing harmattan clean first and then nemo.
