I had about 280mb update on Friday and I went straight from Update 8. I don't know if anyone actually has the 2gb update?

@foufoutos, the dot is not stuck between there, that's how it's supposed to be now with this update. Right?

Thoke 2014-12-22 15:06

Re: SailfishOS Update10 discussions

You still may have the correct update foufoutos. Swipe dots are now like that, shown as half. There were problems with mazelock, are you sure you are trying to install the correct version? Do you mean you can't install Jolla basic apps like clock, etc? Then you may have some problems either with store or the update did really go wrong.

Re: SailfishOS Update10 discussions

Hi. Thank you for the update! Lots of things to explore. I was able to copy URL from Android browser to Jolla. Don't think I could do that before.

One thing, I noticed when trying Weather app I got lines like

<TITLE>Access Denied</TITLE>

on the screen and no weather info.
Do I need a sim card for this app to work? Perhaps it is no longer supported because I do not see it in the Jolla Store. Has it been replaced by "the Weather" which has a different icon? The one I have has a pinkish/red background with a yellow/orange sun.

Thanks!

Once again there is no 2 Gig update, its around 250 Megabyte but it needs that much space while installing.

For me the update made everything worse than before. The phone feels slow, sometimes it needs 5 secs to get into settings menu which I now need to open since my patchmanager is unable to reset control panel into events view. Webcat browser does not work. Now, I'm really :(

i make the update. no essensial app from jolla store and the swipe . stack as half. i cant patch maze so i have a broken update?

It's supposed to look like that now. You only get one dot showing there's something to the left. You get no indication of how many pages deep you are in the stack.

Uninstall your hacks and patches?

Have you waited for Android to update itself? It takes a while after the Sailfish update for Android to get it's updates.

Give it a while and reboot.

Re: SailfishOS Update10 discussions

So Ive asked around on IRC about the new loading app circle animation and it looks like there is no known way (yet) to revert it back to behave like it did in update 8.
Its especially iritating considering apps now take longer to start, causing that white circle to appear for a longer period of time on the cover of homescreen.

Quote:

Opening an app now shows a busy indicator animation on the app cover instead of the static "Loading" label

I agree that version --dup (by the way, it is dup for a reason) should be used, but zypper dup saved me from having to restore my Jolla during the last two system updates, when updating through GUI failed and neither version --dup nor ssu worked.

don't tell me about your opensuse experience when you using sailfishos. upgrading sailfishos is not just installing new version of packages. if you don't want to respect ssu while upgrading system - please leave your opinion outside forum, because some noob users can read this.

P.S. don't forget to remove MEGABYTES of PERSISTENT logs /var/log/zypper.log after using zypper.

1.1.1.26 was released for opt-in 9 and first ones first, not sure if it got to all others before it got on hold. As update got on hold for all who still not updates, those who got update to 1.1.1.26, got hot fix 1.1.1.27 (no one wants bricked phones). So they had hot fix but preferred to post-pone update to first work day, so they can get feedback and give support for the rest people.
short answer is "no" there is no update beyond 1.1.1.27. maybe there will be new update soon to bring fixed alphanumeric lock feature or they'll keep it till next update.
i wonder was it lack of QA on this bug coz bugs happen or coz of pressure to release before Christmas?

so version has no log, isn't it using zypper too?
and is there any log rotation for logs?

alphanumeric will be released in u11 only. If you want to get alphanumeric to work in 1.1.1.27 you need patch: https://openrepos.net/content/coderu...elock-settings

Re: SailfishOS Update10 discussions

@ZogG version tool using sailfish internal upgrade mechanism based on store-client and ssu, it's not just upgrading packages like zypper does. zypper itself (as command-line utility) doesn't respect sailfish upgrade mechanism. if you want to use zypper or any other utility for upgrading sailfishos version - please do it at your home and don't public it in general threads in forum. It's dangerous for newible users. zypper (command-line tool) storing big logs, not libzypp backend itself. and there are no logrotate available for sailfishos/nemomobile, feel free to compile it yourself. Sailfish using journal to store logs, zypper (command-line tool) not using journal to store logs.

I'm afraid you completely misunderstood my post.

SailfishOS is indeed different from OpenSUSE, therefore I am against using zypper and strongly advise to use the GUI way (or 'version --dup' if you want to use the command line).
I was just reacting to the use of 'zypper up' - if you want to use zypper (which I do not recommend), then you should use 'zypper dup', not 'zypper up', because with 'zypper up' you are very likely to end up with half-updated system as it is not able to solve all the dependencies.

What I'm saying is that 'zypper dup' is good as a last resort when neither GUI nor 'ssu' work (my case).
PS: On the other hand, don't tell me that NemoMobile is that different from SailfishOS.

Strange, my device seems to get much better battery life with update 10 and there has been no issues with Android stuff either. Overall everything works very smoothly, but memory intensive apps kill other running apps mercilessly. Which is sometimes annoying... but still, it's very smooth.

Re: SailfishOS Update10 discussions

The loading animation is a usability improvement I like a lot.
Running several android apps seems a lot more stable also.
Altogether a better experience in my opinion. A lot more to do, but I really like that Sailfish is improving gradually in a pretty fast pace.

Really Great update... Call recording working like charm... over btooth too! (better than in N9!!! - Thank You "dpurgin"! [ofcourse others too who helped and so on...])

Personal ring-tones is maybe only thing i miss from N9... (oops, forgot amoled and Pinball Fantasies and TimeSheet and ...)

Btw??? -Is it so hard to implement those different ring-tones ? Only asking... (personally, i don't understand this ambient-thing... well, it is kind of old Nokias profile... but, without user personal opinion to choose melody for caller, or even friend... maybe unlike...)

Before going to the recovery mode, did you by any chance have SSH enabled (and preferably wi-fi as well)?
If you did, you can try to SSH into the phone and complete the update from there - the exact same thing happened to me when going from u8 to u9 and now from u9 to u10.

Re: SailfishOS Update10 discussions

My car bluetooth is having some issues since u10.

It kept the connection and automatically connected and played music. When I made a call, the screen said it is in headset, but the voice came out through the phone speaker.

I tried switching to speakerphone, restarting, re-pairing, etc but no luck.

I also have the control center patch installed.

It is a 2012 Mazda CX9. Bluetooth has always worked with Jolla on this car before c10, and I had been using it everyday.

Anyone else having any similar issues?

Edit: I am not really sure if it is using the microphone on the phone or the car, but the other end can hear fine.

Update 12/24. Now it works fine. I was worried. I don't know what fixed it. Last night noticed that I could not go to "Sounds and feedback" in settings, the link just hangs. So I decided to uninstall all patches and the link started working. I installed the latest patches again and the link still worked. This morning when I tried bluetooth on the car, it works great!!! I am a happy Jolla user again. :):):):)
