Re: Sygic announces world-wide turn-by-turn navigation for Maemo
Dear Zehjotkah,
I just wanted to thank you for your contributions, and especially the YouTube tutorials for programs on the N900. You are very methodical and attentive to detail. I was considering to wait for the upcoming MeeGo device (upgrade from an aging 5800), but I'm now considering purchasing the N900. Predominant among my concerns had been availability of programs for reading (pdf, word, other) and writing (a Word-like program), and for drawing (your suggestions were great) and image editing (like a mini photoshop, haven't seen anything yet). It seems from your faith in the N900 that programs of these sorts are all available, or will be soon. Is this so? |

Hi,
- do you know if it's possible to deactivate the exit message? - do you know if it's possible to put the rotate button on first page in main menu? - do you know if network positioning is necessary for sygic? - do you know how to add shortkeys ( for example "r"=rotate or "e"=exit ) in the keymap.ini file? cheers, thanks |

Thanks for your kind words! PDF reading support is built in. Works great! For writing you can use OpenOffice. Here is a great thread about it, which shows, that there are happy users: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=575448 Image editing is partly built in (watch my video about the camera and picture app) and there is a flash based photoshop clone, which works really good on the N900, a little bit slow, though. You can find it here: http://pixlr.com/app/ Edit: there is also Ansel-A in extras devel. maybe I'm making a video about that program, soon. By the way, if you like what I'm doing.. I'm running for a seat in the maemo community council . You can't vote, because it is required to be a member of this forum for at least 3 month. But maybe other can do ;) Voting starts on the 23 of march and end on the 30 of march And here are the declarations of the candidates. Sorry for a little bit offtopic! |

Is there some bug reporting/tracking tool I managed to miss beyond the "We want to hear from you" form on the website? It's fine if that's the preferred option, but I wanted to check since It seems counter-productive to spam you with lots of duplicate reports if that can be avoided :-) |
Re: Sygic announces world-wide turn-by-turn navigation for Maemo
Thanks Sygic!
Thanks for Mobile Maps 9, thanks for future updates, thanks for Aura (you will release it for N900, or not?), thanks for STOP WAITING FOR OVI STORE, thanks ZDENO and SYGICSUPPORT for being with us... Meanwhile, Nokia simply ignores you and we. SYGIC ROCKS! Nokia... well, you know boys... coming soon... |
Re: Sygic announces world-wide turn-by-turn navigation for Maemo
Hmm. Finland map seems to have some issues with towns. Today I tried to navigate into town called "Järvenpää" and Sygic wouldn't find it (title Järvenpää is visible on the map if you browse the map manually by finger, search just won't find it). So I tried to navigate there by inputting Järvenpää's zip code (in this case 04430) and Sygic shows it's being town called "Tuusula" which is wrong. All streets in Järvenpää are found that way (by inputting zip code and selecting the faulty Tuusula as town), but if I then try to navigate to some street in Järvenpää by typing "Tuusula" for town name it won't find those streets.
Weird stuff. |
