I'll look into the Fix LXDE keyboard problem. Who wants to bet it is a localisation problem?

Thanks. Btw, speaking of "codes", is "localization problem" a code for the user with the problem!

No, since I only speak English, I forget that others have their devices set to non-English language settings, and this can cause problems. The keyboard hack at LXDE startup caused quite a few problems for some users, because I assumed that everyone would have a dialogue box titled, "Information"... :(

So always keep your eyes open for bugs caused by non-English text...

I also get this behavior, but how did you even get to the fix keyboard icon when the keyboard is disabled since Ctrl+Backspace is also disabled? I had to use the shortcutd app which lets me access the task manager through the camera button. Then I can get to the Maemo application manager, and after pressing the fix keyboard icon I get the "Information" window of LXDE without LXDE. When I then maximize LXDE from the task manager, the keyboard indeed is not fixed. But this is anyway such an awkward procedure compared to the power button trick that I think the fix keyboard app could just be thrown out.

Btw, what about including the information about the power button trick in the startup information window in place of the information that this window is a technical necessity?

That was certainly a circuitous route! In my case the Ctrl+Backspace
was NOT disabled so I could easily get to the FIX keyboard. As a guess, it might be something subtle with how you've redone the key mapping. Or perhaps this a manifestation of the "localization problem" qole mentioned as your keyboard is not US.
Anyways, for me, the FIX keyboard has not been useful so far. That
is not to say it may not come in handy as an option in the future. Btw, I've discovered a second "trick" that qole might want to include in the wiki. If all else fails, instead of tapping the power button once. Hold down that same button for a few seconds. Wait a little bit and then press it down again. Amazingly it fixes everything!

I just had a loss of the keyboard without a phone call and there Ctrl+Backspace was not disabled. Provoking it again by phone call, Ctrl+Backspace was again disabled.

I also tried your second trick. It switched my phone off. That certainly fixes everything! :p

EDIT: This "trick" had a funny side effect: When I launched LXDE next time after this hard shutdown quite a few things had changed: All windows started without title bar and located in the upper left area so that everything else was covered, and, to make it even worse, Ctrl+. didn't work any longer so that I couldn't move those windows away from that position  Fortunately, everything was back to normal after a shutdown and restart of LXDE.

Did you try the Fix Keyboard app when you lost the keyboard
without the phone call?

Hi qole creativetone brought up a good quistion in the Mypaint fremantle thread about touchscreen pressure sensitivity in LXDE. Is that possible to do so you can use it in Gimp and Mypaint inside LXDE like you can in the Mypaint for fremantle 0.7.1?

Unfortunately, no. But I know it worked previously for me. I'll check at the next occasion.

Re: Easy Debian Fremantle Beta Testing

I have yet to figure out how to get pressure sensitivity to work inside Gimp on any of the Maemo devices. Unless someone gives me some hints, I don't know what to try next.

And it is even less likely that it will work in LXDE, since it is running in a lightweight nested X server that probably doesn't transmit the pressure values. But I could be wrong...

Sorry... :(
