Hi ... just flashed mine to 930 Mhz and my phone smelled burnt inside because it heats up much more now, it is still working though. pretty amazing because there is no lag on drnoksnes now, browser loads up instantaneously, almost no lag in openarena, accessing contacts is instant as well, very snappy.

phone version can't be recognized by "about" from settings

I'll let you know if I'll ever encounter problems with it.

Flashed mine to 900MHz, and adjusted /etc/pmconfig (with SmartReflex on)... after the reboot I've got corrupted animation and reboot loop. USB flash to 800 remediated the issue :-) Great stuff!

I think 800 would be perfect, I don't really like the smell of my phone now at 930 mhz. if nothing happens with my phone till tomorrow I suppose it's safe? to use 930, but still under our own risk.

it smelled burnt just after I ran more than 10 applications at once.it's probably because of just too much heat. also one good thing is that if you have easydebian and if you run openoppice.org, less than 20 seconds it loads up contrary to a couple of minutes loading before the overclocking.

so far so good, no bad news yet. watching a movie now on my n900 while several applications running on the background.

This thread keeps reminding me of the "smoke test" of tech tradition. When building or repairing something, you "give it the smoke test," meaning that you power it up, and if you see smoke, you power it back down again, because you have probably done something wrong.

I like the idea of the smoke test; it implies the knowledge that you might make mistakes, but the determination to move forward and find out, ready to back out if things look bad.

Of course, the N900 might not survive many failed smoke tests, but mine still seems in great shape. I have a feeling that it will be working fine a few years from now, which is all I hope for. By then it probably won't be my main handheld computer.

If my phone smelled funny, I would stop running at that speed. There is no such thing as "Oh, I was running ten apps at once so it overheated too much," at least not for me. If my N900 starts noticeably overheating, I'm dropping to a lower speed right now.

@geneven, it's just my theory, I might be wrong with that. Anyway whoever made this overclocking tweak ... thank you very much!. My n900 seems the best phone in the world,

I decided to stay at 930 mhz now, I believe it's pretty stable now.
