Major difference : BQ is doing the tablet and Canonical the OS. They successfully delivered 2 phones in partnership. Different universe to Jolla, although the OS is not as polished as is Sailfish.

Jolla had a tablet and a OS. Canonical got a tablet and a OS. Same universe. Different OS.

Jolla deliver a Phone. Ubuntu deliver phone. Same universe different OS.

I really hope Jolla get an equivalent to BQ. Sailfish is far more mature than Ubuntu Touch, and deserves to be showcased on some decent hardware that doesn't let its batteries and sim cards fall out or end up in Dave's lockup in Peckham.

You dont get a HWpartner...you have to deserve One...

Would Love to see a HW partner for jolla but even so its still possible to **** up...

Intex have tablets. Do they Trust jolla?

#mer-meeting: SailfishOS, open source, collaboration: 11-Feb-2016 @ 14:30 UTC
Quote:

3 - Status update from Jolla (tablets, financing, resourcing, etc.) - Jolla + community (10 min) (cybette, 14:36:00)
please address the subject of the tablet situation (delivery to backers, taobao situation) - Also, what about additional perks - e.g. 64GB upgrades - and $20 USD delivery fee that we were asked to add to the tablet contributions? Are those included in the current theoritical refund plan? (cybette, 14:36:06)
Refund program for Jolla tablet is not a trivial task as there is no ready solution available. Jolla has been working super hard on it with good progress, and is starting to send instructions etc. to contributors. (cybette, 14:39:20)
All the perks (64GB upgrades, delivery fee etc.) will be included in the refund program (cybette, 14:40:00)
Regarding Jolla Tablets on Taobao, according to Jolla's knowledge there would have been a few hundred devices on sale there, but the sellers indicate there are more devices. Jolla is still investingating this. (cybette, 14:41:56)
There are both 64GB and 32GB tablets in the batch of 540, but no exact figures of each. (cybette, 14:42:59)
It should not take long for the shipping of remaining 540 tablets, although no exact date yet. Please also refer to FAQ in latest blog post for other questions. (cybette, 14:45:38)

So refunds instructions are out or any day now?

If so, very good.

Can you explain how you measure which one is more mature and polish?

did you get Sailfish (more expensive) version or you want to 'fix' it yourself, following the guides?

$212 = €187
I forgot what the VAT is in Finland but 25% does not sound too far off...
0.25 * €187 = €46.75

Ok. Call me crazy. I have a friend here who has a Chinese friend who ordered one for me from a Taobao seller. Because of Chinese New Year he will not get it until next Wednesday. Once he receives it he will send me pictures of it. Maybe video. If it is the real McCoy he will send it to me. If not he can send it back for reimbursement...

Yep. The Chinese New Year slowed down my order as well. Luck to you man, hope you get the real deal.

24% but if it was an internal EU purchase it should be 0% for business purchases. I don't think Jolla take it off at source though so the hassle of claiming it back from Finland is a pain.

If it's coming from China you might get stung for import duty, shipping and then VAT on top of everything.

Hi Dave999, you asked me to inform you about my chargeback with Amex. Well I've got all my money back in full. They can try to issue chargeback reversal, but since I have provided enough evidence regarding Jolla, their intention, their claims, how they've spent that money, their official statements how they are not able to produce tablets, and of course that I haven't received a tablet yet, I truly doubt they will get reversal back.

Cheers.

Yes I went for the more expensive "Jolla" option

My reasoning went -

I need a mobile device to read PDFs more and more at home and at work.

I need the extra screen size from a tablet due to my poor eyesight . I have a N900 that I cant really read unaided. The Jolla phone works well, but is just too small for serious use ie following manuals in pdf.

I was excited about the Ubuntu Tablet, but was very disappointed by the specs.

Then I thought the Jolla Tablet specs were good, why not just buy one.

If and I guess "if" it arrives is teh big one -

If it arrives as an android device, it has a large screen - that will be fine.

If its the right model I can flash it back to Sailfish - that will be excellent

- That does assume there is a Tablet pdf viewer <g>

I get all the fun of buying stuff through crazy chinese sites, think of the happiness if something actually turns up!. Then there is all the work trying to flash it - or not

Thats hours of fun, even before I start using it.

WIN,WIN, WIN

The only real downside is that my partner is going to be REALLY P****** OFF if I get a Jolla tablet. As she also ordered one, and is going to be very jealous :)

Thank you. You going for ubuntu tablet? Or safe bets like android/iOS?

I think I leave it up to jolla to pay me back. Do they want customers or not. We Will see.

Wow, you are really special... You are calling me selfish? You trully have an issue man. Before you start to point finger and call people selfish, maybe you should read Indiegogo terms of use. I know that Jolla definitely should.

Then again, when I see that you are from London England, I am not surprised about your comments.

No idea, I haven't thought about it. I might go for Ubuntu, but then again, Android and Windows are also cool. I know one thing, that I will never use Jolla product, ever...

American Express are pretty darn good about siding on your favor if you state when you paid, what you expected, what was/was not delivered and if you can point to any information that corroborates your story, they'll tend to fight/side with you. I like that about them.

Perhaps a DM between yourself and Prometheus to sort out those details would be to your benefit.
