Can the osso-statusbar-cpu turn off that box and the cpu bars? and allow me to set the font? ;)

sorry - just being selfish here! I really liked the old PanelClock and would like a similar app that just showed the time in a font and color I wanted

Not the box, nor the font, AFAIK, but you could set the CPU bar to black, then nothing shows up, just a white clock in a black box with a white border...

When i install statusbar 5.3 i only get the minutes number and am/pm to show up. Also when i try to install the cpu plugin it says its not compatible. =( any suggestions or links. i couldnt find anything when i googled for it.

*NVM found a post by GeneralAnt that linked to a repo with the file i needed ^^ <3 GenAnt posts...

You have to go into the control panel, click on panels, then on the statusbar tab. Find the "statusbar-clock-hours" entry and make sure it is check and located one slot below the minutes entry.

As for the cpu plugin do you mean osso-statusbar-cpu or load-applet? I didn't have anything to do with writing them, but I have been running load-applet for quite some times with no problems. The only thing I can think of is you got a version for an older operating system, like OS2007. I don't think they are compatible.

Ahh ok. I had load applet but switched to osso statusbar cpu. I just need to switch mine to non military time. Thank you for the help Fifer. I'm such a newb with these things. i don't even know what to google most of the time. =(

HIGHLY EXPERIMENTAL VERSION OF STATUSBAR CLOCK

I have just built a version of statubar clock with alarm support. You can both see when an alarm is set AND set and remove alarms entirely through statusbar clock.

If there is an alarm pending within the next month, the clock shows as orange with an underline. If there is an alarm within the next 24 hours it is red with an underline.

In the alarm dialog (from the popup menu) you can view the alarms set, set new alarms, or remove existing alarms. Currently there is no way to edit an alarm (which is just a delete and an add anyway). I have not tested recurrence, and sound does not work (because I did not have time to locate any sound file).

PLEASE NOTE that this is very much more unstable than the previous version and mostly untested. Some known problems:

- If you remove all the alarms the underline goes away but the clock does not change colours back to normal (I ran out of time to fix this today).
- As stated above, recurrence has not been test. Also, no sound plays.
- Colours are not user selectable at this time.
- Underline probably not a good choice, as it is gappy and multilevel (see screen shot).

If you are feeling brave, reboot after installing this and don't be surprised if you get a crash. When I installed the very first build today I went into a reboot loop that I had to reflash out of. This has not happened with any subsequent build, but I haven't installed any subsequent build overtop of a previous version.

If you do test this out, please let me know what problems you have with it and what features you would like to see. Also, let me know what works good!

It sounds a bit long to me.. looking at how I use alarms on my Palm T3 that would mean it would be orange at all times. What about making it orange when there's an upcoming alarm within the next week?

MUCH LESS EXPERIMENTAL ALARM VERSION

I think maybe my headline of "experimental version" deterred some people from my last post. I had worked all day on getting a version with the bare minimum alarm functionality and didn't have time to test on my device much at all.

After testing all weekend and fixing some of the most obvious bugs, I can release a new version with alarm functionality. I recommend rebooting after install.

Fixed in this version is:
- Proper transitioning from each alarm level and normal display
- Got rid of underlining for now
- Colours and alarm "window" are user selectable in the config dialog
- Recurrence has been tested to work
- Sound works but is not user selectable (and selecting "none" still plays one for some reason)

Unrelated to alarms:
- Make hours numerals larger when using "stacked" mode.

I will release the next version with alarms to my garage page, but for this version get it from the post.

EDIT the wording in the configuration window for alarm settings is terrible. Please let me know if you have better terminology!

i like the new font sizes for the stacked clock, and love the ease and simplicity of the added alarm function. my n800 makes the same noise for all three alarm sounds, and "open sound" button seems to have no function other than to change colour.

one suggestion for the alarm, you did implement a 'snooze' function but i would like it if there were an automatic snooze response as well. sometimes i sleep through the first alarm. a follow up alarm at 4 minute intervals forever (if need be) would be grand. the four minute snooze intervals feels about right.

as well, i am sure others will write in and ask for the alarm to turn on and leave on the fm radio in the n800 or the internet radio on the n8*0s or to start mplayer and load in random morning wake up songs. those functions would be useful too.

the bare bones alarm is great though. congrats.

do i also see that you were able to temporarily defeat the lock screen mode? i notice i can snooze or cancel the alarm even though the screen is locked. the features in the clock just get better and better.

I have a new version that almost has the different sound settings complete - you can select from three built-in sounds but still cannot select a custom sound (you will eventually be able to). I just tried to implement a bare-bones solution like world clock for this go around.

By all means, if anyone has suggestions for the alarm system I will listen. Everything John mentioned about snooze, launching media player or radio should be doable (I will have to look into snooze). Let me know what other people want. More recursion options? Anything I haven't thought of.

As far as the alarm defeating the screen lock, I believe this is the intended behaviour of the built-in alarms, ie. you can interact with the alarm disable/snooze no matter what state the device is in. I haven't tested the alarm-on-boot-up, but the device should turn on (perhaps into a dummy mode) if an alarm is scheduled to go off but the device is powered down.
