Re: Digia @web Browser
Hi all,
For some reason the latest version I have sent does not go through to extras. It seems to be there in the system as I can not upload another version. Maybe file permissions are wrong or something? If someone who has access to the system is reading this, please fix. I have e-mailed maemo webmaster, but he seems to be out somewhere and has not replied. Yours, Tuukka |
Re: Digia @web Browser
Hi there, I've been following this thread, and I was wondering if there was any chance of you (Digia) posting the .deb package file directly on your website, since it appears that you are having difficulty posting it to extras. Of course, it would be much better if you could post it to extras, but perhaps some of us would enjoy testing out the new version in the meantime.
Thanks! |

I make this words mine... =D
Would be nice if you post the .deb |
Re: Digia @web Browser
It is very odd that I do not seem to get the latest @Web for Diablo version into the repository.
I have uploaded it but it just did not appear in the repository. Maybe I just have to increase the version number by one ant try again. PS. We are working with @Web also for Fremantle. The port we initially did was not better than the platform browser so we did not release it at all. But we have a plan to use Qt Graphics view based approach and also switch to new Qt Webkit 2.0 that should be a good engine. Timing remains to be seen but as soon as we have something relevant I will put it to maemo.org. Yours, Tuukka Turunen Digia Plc |

Re: Digia @web Browser
Hi All,
There are now brand new Digia @Web 3.0.0 and 3.0.1 versions in the extras devel repository. They both perform much faster than the N900 platform browser - and of course provide the great @Web UI. As mentioned earlier we did not initially release @Web for N900 / Fremantle due to performance issues. Now we have re-worked the whole architecture and integrated new webkit engines. UI looks the same still, but underneath there has been several improvements. We have also been testing the brand new Qt WebKit 2.0, which look very promising but seems to provide the best only with Qt 4.7 (which is still under development, and not stabile enough to release with). For this reason we have release two version @Web 3.0.0 that has the old and stabile Qt WebKit and 3.0.1 with new Qt WebKit 2.0. On JavaScript performance we are 65% faster that platform browser (SunSprider bechmark). Basic rendering performance is 64% faster (Raytracer benchmark). And we get almost double the score in Peacekeeper benchmark (88% better that platform browser). When compared to Mozilla Fennec 1.0 @Web clearly beats it as well in all areas (Fennec is only slight faster than the platform browser). Looking forward in your feedback. Re: Digia @web Browser
Nice work! It does seem faster in some cases. One thing is there is no progress indicator when the menu bar is hidden so it can be hard to tell if you really clicked that link. Also zoom + scrolling + impatience = out of control laggy flying around the place.
Perhaps you should start a new thread for version 3 so it doesn't get lost at the end of this? |
