Re: N900 overclock tests/results and new versions
Hey guys, I don't want to steer this great thread away from it's main question, but can this be done without a PC? I know the phone can be flashed straight through the terminal with certain versions, but if the n900 locks up you need a PC to flash it back to stock right?
I have a Mac, so I'm not sure where I stand with this... |
Re: N900 overclock tests/results and new versions
any news guys?
I've read that a new kernel's out, with minimum frequency 500mhz, instead of 125mhz, with better battery usage, since it's under low voltage. |
Re: N900 overclock tests/results and new versions
I'm using ideal kernel from Titans, and ajust it to run onlu 500 Mhz and 850 Mhz.
Battery performance is good\better then stock. Performance, off course, is good. I have created this "OC Desktop" on my N900 :) http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/5...0041721404.png It allows me to Power Up when i need and get it back when i want. And it allow me to workarround the Call reset problem. |

You can indeed flash your device from your mac if something goes wrong... |

running 900mHz for more than a week. everything works fine.. its stable.. longer battery life.. and browsing now is hella nice...

Re: N900 overclock tests/results and new versions
Yeah, just for the record, I think it's been nearly a week of overclocking with very pleasing results. I'm at 1.15 ghz now and it is as responsive as everyone says it is. However it has been slightly unstable at times with heavily loaded flash sites (rebooted itself on me once), and music playback is terrible if the ram happens to be low. In which case I just give it a soft reset.
I love my device at anything at 1 GHz+. It's like a new machine - I love it. Battery life's been in the toilet though; that's just something I've adjusted to ever since the n95 days, so it doesn't bother me one bit |
Re: N900 overclock tests/results and new versions
800MHz here, been stable for weeks with absolutely no visible drawbacks.
But I crave MOAR POWER!@ Does anyone have any info on 1.1GHz? Stable? Not stable? |
Re: N900 overclock tests/results and new versions
It's amazing at 1.1 GHz. At first I thought it was highly unstable, because it wouldn't even play music. Turns out that if the ram is low, or it's been used heavily for a few hours, it'll start to get 'hung up' on certain things.
Other than that, even surfing on edge is amazingly snappier. Flash sites are a little more responsive, PSX4ALL runs much smoother, and obviously every program runs amazingly smooth. It usually only gets hot if I'm running several websites and chats on through jabber/facebook or when the brightness is all the way up. So far, so good. Stable. |
Re: N900 overclock tests/results and new versions
ok So i decided to Overclock my device since everyone is loving the the titan stable kernel and it is looking very nice btw (Linux knewb btw). Also i hear talks about DSP. Does the DSP get changed automatically with titans stable kernel(500-850)? or should i be following something that helps me change it? IS it even worth it? i hear its something that does help improve the device on top of overclocking but maybe that already came with the kernel.
Thanks again for such an easy way to overclock!! never seen anything so simple like that but yet so rewarding. You all are awesome! -MASTER |
