Re: Kernel power update, jamming on boot, panic help !
after all battery did the trick. Another battery from 5800 foolly loaded leaves us enough time with Nokia panell to execute u option (before the penguin starts). PC loads the driver, flasher finds the device and we where in bussines.Writing correct string in flasher took some tibe but was safe. Good luck Mike.

press and hold u, plug in usb cable, don't have flasher running, just plug into a powered usb port. also have tried it after running flasher 3.5 and the command flasher-3.5 -F RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin --flash-only=kernel -f -R It just says: Suitable USB device not found, waiting. Pc does not detect phone in any circumstance . handset will not even start up at all now with fully charged battery . the only thing i get is a brief flash of the orange led when i have tried holding u after plugging in phone to usb when its off for up to five minutes to see if it will switch to flashing mode and it will not . both with flasher running and without . I really hope my device can recover. so if anyone can suggest any further course of action that would be great , At the moment it just looks its stuffed:( |
Re: Kernel power update, jamming on boot, panic help !
I cant get to flashing mode. The moment i connect the usb cable while U key pressed the penguin screen comes again.

Re: Kernel power update, jamming on boot, panic help !
Are you sure the battery is (fully) charged?
To get to the flashing mode, as soon as you plug the phone to the PC's usb, a Nokia screen will show up without backlight, then in a split second at the top right corner a small usb icon will appear. If you can get there flashing should start rightaway. If not then try charge/check the battery. Maybe it is not the only solution, but at least a fully charged battery has done the trick for many having this non-booting issue, so it is still worth trying. PS Before solving the problem I was assuming the battery was still charging when the little tux got stuck at uboot, but apparently I was wrong despite the fact the the amber LED was on. |
Re: Kernel power update, jamming on boot, panic help !
@zimm
This is what happens when I plug mine in with no battery, the orange light give a very brief flash; then nothing. This is what happens when I plug it in with a battery, it gives one vibration, I see the nokia screen, the orange led comes on and then it runs in charging mode. You say that the handset will not start up at all now, but before, when you pressed the power on button, it would only get as far as U-boot (displaying the penguin). Are you positive the battery is charged - did you see it working in another phone. If so, did you try cleaning the contacts on your phone and on the battery. |
Re: Kernel power update, jamming on boot, panic help !
@elipsoid
someone in another thread mentioned that their battery was damaged by an external charger , i dont think cleaning contacts will help as they look mint and device is only 6 months or so old , the folks at shop i went to used one to charge my battery today so its possible it charged it and damaged the pins on my battery (sigh) will go back on monday as they are closed tomorrow and ask if they can test in one of the handsets they have there. hopefully if its broken by them they will replace it if not ill have to wait till next week as im a student on a bit of a strict budget currently . |
