Well blame Nokia for canceling supporting of their child and making it orphan . (Not community)

About your question RottenFish:
Private Messaging system don't work or is disabled for the sake of reducing load on talk server.
So I can't send private message to you with links from file. I think there is no direct links in upper answer in purpose not to to much load the mirror servers.
It's done on basis if you don't know how to use them (file and links in it), you do not real need them now.
Well little clue:
- You can extract file on simple computer even in windows, use winrar for ex.
- Look for Maemo 5.0 Fremantle branch in file
- Setup new links in you N900 phone App.manager (in Application Catalogs menu)
On basis as the old ones are:
Nokia Applications
Nokia System Software Updates (be aware to put the right country!)
maemo
etc.

Create NEW one catalog entries, don't edit the old ones. Old ones simple mark as disabled.
They will be operational (WE all hope topic 1 and Support wanted - Hildonfoundation.org) in the future.

New ones catalogs have to be the same like the old disabled ones (except name), but http links must be the new ones from file.
Names you may create on basis:
- maemo.org TEMP
- Ovi TEMP
and so on, so you can delete the right ones in the future.

For you I think will be enough next links:
Ovi, Extras.
Maybe you can add and extras testing, but be aware if something go wrong, you might not be able two return phone to initial state with all your privies apps installed because migration is not still over.

I cannot read tarballs on the current machine - I cannot update from Community SSU and Maemo repos... what host should I point these two to as repository.maemo.org appears to be down.

Please supply as a standard post...

Tried pinging them - both repos not contactable.

Trying to update from new repos... but Community SSU repo from tarball

Trying again without "non-free" option in Components.

Suspect issues still there.

After trying to update again - message

"Application list partially refreshed.
Some catalogues unavailable.
Check catalogue details".

I click "details" button, it goes to Community SSU temp" repo.
I click on it...

Error is "http://skeiron.org/repo/repository.maemo.org/community/dists/fremantle/free/binary-armel/Packages.gz
Hash Sum mismatch"

Have disabled catalogue entry for now.
I am running a Nokia N900, UK, with CSSU Stable.
Version 21.2011.38-15maemo6 Stable
Main Maemo version is 21.2011.38-1.

What should I do now so I CAN pick up CSSU updates or safely apply packages to my phone?

You can browse manually on skeiron.org/repo for a temp mirror... The hash sum mismatch is out of our hands due to the original repo.maemo.org having the same issue; we'll all have to live with it for a few more days till repo.maemo.org comes back up... I don't think CSSU will update when its down so you won't be missing on any updates per se...

Hi brkn,and sorry to bother you,but when you have a time answer me to one question,i add mirrors of maemo repository on this way,for instance extras-devel:
echo "deb http://skeiron.org/repo/repository.m.../extras-devel/ fremantle free non-free" >> /etc/apt/sources.list
echo "deb-src http://skeiron.org/repo/repository.m.../extras-devel/ fremantle free" >> /etc/apt/sources.list
apt-get update(again problem with Hash Sum mismatch)
strange is when i have to install some app.from console i can't,but from app.manager without problem on this way(backup before remove from /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/01autoremove,99-docpurge,00maemo and created similar files with leafpad,but for 01autoremove 99-docpurge i left them emty,only i edit 00maemo,dleted everything except this:
Acquire::Queue-Mode "access";
Acquire::https::Verify-Peer "false";
APT::Install-Recommends 0;
I don't understand why from x-terminal i can't install apps

on this way I managed to install only 3 applications
