i ve found some games which would be cool on n900

warzone2100: i ve played this when i was in school on my ps1 ... didnt knew this is open source...

If anything, this is probably the most reasonable request I've seen for an N900 port, as the source has been release under the GPL, and has already been ported to Linux:

You can even check out the source tree: git://github.com/Warzone2100/warzone2100.git

What extra work would be required I'm not sure, but it's considerably more likely than most other things people are asking for :)

Edit: It seems the biggest pinch is the fact that it's written, of course, against OpenGL and not OpenGL|ES 2, on top of utilizing GLU for various operations (which was superseded by EGL.) Unfortunately, I'm not knowledgeable enough in the differences between them all to do a proper port.

It'd probably be a good idea to get the source code to that version, as if it works then properly updating it to the N900 shouldn't be too hard (assuming it's using hardware rendering via OpenGL ES and not software via Mesa.)

That and it's GPL, so the source should be available.

From what I've read it uses SDL, is this an issue? N900 is/should be THE phone for roguelikes, yet I had problems with easydebian trying to install some through synaptic (some packages are not up-to-date in the armel ver which throws errors). I am starting to read on the needed setup to try compiling on my own, but I'm sure it's a looong way.

Dwarf Fortress on your N900 (though through terminal, but this takes care of battery issues if one tried to compute all of the fort complexities, dammit even my laptop gets loud when DFing). Seems like the right thread to post this.

Is there any way to port the Half life engine / Half-life game over to the n900?

I would imagine its got the power to run it.

pity the psx port was never released =/ i'd love half life on my mobile but alas unless you know how to convert the entire game i doubt you will be able to, plus i dont believe it is open source (?)

AFAIK GoldSrc engine isn't open source, so it's not possible.

Sorry dude, I haven't used that in ages so I don't really remember. Has something to do with mounting a c: drive and then navigating to the game's folder (using dos commands) and running the game's executable (*.exe or *.com). I think think there's a thread for dosbox that can help you, though.

For Skyroads you can use dosbox. Tried it. It works. Sound is a bit jumpy, though. Urban Chaos has a psone version and so it will probably run on psx4m-gui under the pcsx reARMed core.
