Re: N900 Case / Pouch / Screen Protector Thread

Two other happy Vikuiti users here.

I'm probably repeating something that others have written on this looong thread, but I'm doing it anyway since it might help someone.

I bought a Vikuiti DQC-160 (for my phone) and a Vikuiti ARMR200 (for my wife's phone) from Amazon.uk, since protectionfilms24.com could not send it to Brazil. I placed my order on Nov. 27th, and they arrived today (Dec. 14th).

It was too easy to apply them, both have a perfect fit and they have 5 holes (for the light sensor, camera, proximity sensor, earpiece and indicator light). I think this might be better than the Clear Protector since it has only 2 holes (for the camera lens and earpiece), but others might think just the opposite (more holes = more places to scratch and get dirty)...

I've been using my N900 without any screen protector for a couple of weeks and got used to its look and feel. Except for the holes, after applying the DQC-160 the phone still looks and feels just like the protector isn't there! I didn't use the stylus a lot (and only for taping, never for dragging), but I can tell that it feels the same for the finger.

The ARMR200, OTOH, looks and feels very different. It removes reflections but makes the screen a bit blur, and it feels (and even sounds!) like you're dragging your finger over a piece of paper. If you're a pixel peeper and/or you love the details on the high-res screen of the N900, my advice is to skip this and go for the DQC-160. If you will hold the device at arm's length or don't mind losing a bit of detail, and if reflections really annoy you, then the ARM200 might do the trick.

My only complaint about both Vikuiti protectors is that there are small air bubbles around the holes and the edges of the protector that simply won't go away. This is probably due do small irregularities on the edges, which might happen to some protectors but not to others. Since the bubbles are really small and not in the middle of the screen, I really don't care, but I guess this would bother a perfectionist.

Someone posted about a Lexerd screen protector, but it was for the NEC N900.

But look at this one:
Lexerd - Nokia N900 TrueVue Anti-glare Cell Phone Screen Protector

Quote:

Ultra Thin
Anti-glare
Guarantee To Preserve Original Color Tones
Heat, Water Resistance, Against Scratches and Shields Damage

Anyone tried this?

Re: N900 Case / Pouch / Screen Protector Thread

I had the InvisibleShield on for about a week but just didn't like the texture of the screen. I did improve after a few days, but I definitely missed the smoothness of the a protector like Martin Fields, Boxwave or Clarivue. I ended up purchasing a Vikuiti protector (DQC-160) and am pleased post-install. It's very much like the rigid protectors the manufacturers mentioned earlier offer. It's a tight fit, so it definitely requires clean hands, plenty of scotch tape, and patience, but I'm very happy with the purchase so far.

just wanted to share some stuff. BMC digital is the link if you guys want to buy Nokia CP 321- pouch, i got from them fits good on phone.https://www.bmcdigital.co.uk/

since battery is problem, i got travel charger from Fry's store at $ 3.99( Biztech or mytech) and officedepot has CASELOGIC Ac-Dc wall adapter for car chargers for $ 9.99 and it works fine. i have tried it. i tried lot of ac-dc adapters and most out there are compitable with iphone and those does not work with N900. best thing is buy it try it in parking lot and if not worked return it.
bestbuy has combo called Rocketfish it works fine but is $29.99.

Is it just me or isn't the proximity sensor hidden?
Also, how do you swipe from the left/right in the browser if it's covered with a sticky material?

For the record, i have a PhantomSkinz screen protector on the front and waiting for the Zagg full body shield for the rest...

I also received a clear hard case and I'm waiting for a black/rubber and red/rubber hard case of the same kind, I'll be able to mix and match the front/back. (clear/red/black)

Re: N900 Case / Pouch / Screen Protector Thread

There's one annoying thing about the clearprotector screen protector. There's a lot of orange peel efect, so that's why I'm switching to the clarivue protector. Also the clearprotector seems very spongy compared to the clarivue, whereas the clarivue doesn't even feel like it's on the screen.

I got a cheap white case from Ebay that resambles the rubberized hard case in the way it looks. I was somewhat disapointed by the white case since it had some anoying spots on it that I could not remove. I wonder if the cases you posted are really better then the cheap ones on ebay. (I kinda doubt it)

So I'm interrested in one of these cases too. However I wonder what the difrence is between those too as well. I really hope the ruberized one has a ruber kinda feeling to it (slip proof). Looking forward to your review.

If you received them, let us know so I can order :)
( I'm getting this one too http://pdair.com/catalog/product_inf...ducts_id=26893)

Yo lemme know how that hardcase is. I got a similar one for my ipod touch. What I did was put on an invisible shield and then the hard case. I like it that way cuz it prevents lint etc from compromising the shield adhesiveness. I wonder if those will fit with an invisible shield on?

That's part of the reason I switched from PhantomSkinz which is the same type of military grade material to the Vikuiti DQC-160 which btw I have two extra of & will sell for $11/each shipped (a little cheaper then importing from Germany).

Goes on easily (no adhesive or wetting), is almost an exact fit leaving no gap, & is nearly invisible.

You can get three of those rubberised hard cases for about 9 bucks here:

If you want 3 black ones just ask. Free shipping too :) I got mine a few weeks ago, they look alright. (Now I just need the phone to put in them :P) I wouldn't pay 18 bucks for 1 though.

Using Vikuiti DQC-160 too since the first hour. Had the slightly too big cutout version. I recieved new one's which have a perfect fit.

Best screenprotector I have ever used, so highly recommended.

Worldwide.

Shipping from Germany to the US was pretty quick though at four days since it was just letter sized mail.

I wonder if the material is exacly the same. Like I said I own a cheap case as well but I'm dissapointed in the rubbery feeling.

Waiting for the review to clear things up.

UK £1.99 for 7 Free shipping

Does the job nicely. No cutouts - doesn't seem to affect it at all.
Same shiney look - no degradation to touch response AFAICT.

At this price it's a no-brainer :)

I ordered Clarivue last Friday and this case from ebay today.

My n900 arrives tomorrow, I'm hopeful that Clarivue will arrive before christmas.

I ordered the rubber case because they seemed to be the only or one of the few that had an actual n900 pictured in the case being sold.

Ultrasuede is washable, yes.

Just got mine and can vouch for good construction and exactly what I needed -- something to keep it from getting worn/scratched in my pocket without making me buy the next-size-up jeans or raising the attention of security guards.

Has anyone bit the bullet and tried the Clarivue Privacy screen protector or the mirror finish?

I'm kinda intrigued by the privacy screen - not because I do anything sensitive, just to keep the nosey buggers on the tube from glancing over constantly!

In any case, Gary's customer service is as advertised: absolutely top-notch. He asked me to take some pictures of the n900 in the sleeve so that he can see if they can get a better fitting one for me.

A quick post-script to this saga:

After also asking me to take the physical measurements of my N900, Gary sent me another "stock" N900 sleeve and an even tighter custom sleeve that utilized the measurements I gave him.

The custom sleeve fit very snugly, but it was too difficult to insert and remove the device (almost impossible to do without inadvertently pressing a hardware key). On the other hand, the "stock" sleeve was absolutely perfect: snug (n900 won't fall out if you hold the sleeve upside-down), yet still easy to remove and insert.

So, for all of you who ordered the N900 sleeve and thought it was way too loose, you probably got one from a bad batch like me and you should definitely ask for an exchange. Again, Gary's customer service was phenomenal--he and his team went the extra mile. I definitely recommend them (SF Bags).

OK - i've bitten the bullet and ordered the Clarivue privacy finish for the N900.

What I didn't do was read the comparison chart before I ordered it (yes, the muppet I am!): http://www.clarivue.com/comparison-chart.html

I have a feeling i'm not gonna be happy about the 'non-smooth finish and the fact it apparently leaves a residue... but hey! I could cancel my order, but it might turn out ok!

Anyway, its shipping to London so i'll report back here in hopefully less than their quoted max time of 20 business days...

I have both Clarivue (anti-glare version) and DQC-160. Had the Clarivue on for a week and then switched to the DCQ and now had this one on for a week as well. Both went on bubble-less on a clean screen and looked good, but both did get some micro scratches after a week of use. Personally I like the DCQ more than the Clarivue(again, anti-glare version) because the latter does dim/blur and swiping the finger/nail/stylus on it made a scratchy sound that gave the device a cheap feel. The DCQ is smooth, clear, and I am happy / will be sticking with it. Hope this helps, I'm not sure how the other Clarivue screens are.
