the app probably works cause it emits ir but I never find a data for my tv set, KONKA. There are datas for two or three konkas but my tv model is not included.

Re: QtIrreco for N900

Can anyone please upload a remote for the LG 42lh200c flat panel TV? Or is there anyone that knows of a working code setup for that model that is already downloadable via the QtIrreco app UI? I'd love to test if its working for me, but can't even find if there is a suitable code setup for my TV.

Re: QtIrreco for N900

Some ui feature requests:
  • jump to another remote
  • tabbed remotes
  • hardware keys
  • full screen mode

I use my phone as a remote in a number of environments all of which have multiple devices, most of which have more buttons that make sense to pack into a single view. To some extent jump buttons can be used to cover the utility of tabs, but tabs would reduce the work needed to configure complex remotes.

As for hardware buttons, I'm sure a lot of people would like to be able to use the rocker as quick access to a volume control. The shutter and power buttons might be a bit more questionable. The keyboard would also be rather useful. Consider using a phone as a full ir keyboard for things that want text entry (such as mythtv).

Re: QtIrreco for N900

just a wild thought, can it be possible to create repicate of existing system, I mean press some button on actual remote pointing towards n900 and record it and then assign that for some button in say qtirreco?

Re: QtIrreco for N900

you cannot record IR on the n900 itself. You can record on another pc and transfer it over.

My Qtirreco works GREAT -- sometimes. I have a Roku XD and a cheap but beautiful Samsung HDTV.

It sometimes seems I have to hit certain buttons to get the Roku's attention. How can I improve consistency?

What can I do

Problem solved! It turns out that my N900 seems much more sensitive to good, line of sight placement of the Roku unit than my Roku remote is. So I moved the Roku unit and now my N900 as remote works much better.

Hi folks,
I have very strange problem! Qtirreco woks fantastic, but after some programs/games are installed uninstalled, it stops working. The only way to get it back to work is reinstall (but this helps only when I remove the qtirreco folder from MyDocs (rm -rf /home/user/MyDocs/qtirreco)).

N900 running PR 1.3
any ideas?

Re: QtIrreco for N900

Thanks for a good program but i also agree with Rafiyr.

There arent enough space in the window to allow for enough buttons for powerusers.
Either tabs or a much larger and scrollable screen (Like the desktop) would be very nice (Or both :D )

Also i have another question, would it be possible to add eventrelated IR transmissions? For instance when qtirreco is running and the phone rings it would be very convenient to add a userconfigured command to mute the sound from the stereo.

Personally most of the stuff in my home are controlled by IR, stereo,tv,lights, windows and much more.
And just like Rafiyr, i also have a lot of IR equipment on my workplace. (Barcoprojectors, mediaplayers, smokemachines, lasers and such stuff) which brings up another question...

Could someone please make a tutorial on how to convert files from other remoteprograms like for instance http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/codes/
And also how to configure a script for all-in-one RF/IR-reciever-IC's like for instance Holtek HT12 / PT2272 to qtirreco.
http://search.datasheetcatalog.net/k...ONTROL+DECODER
... I guess with these two tutorials amost every imaginable IR-device would easy be added to qtirreco and then with a cheap IR to RF converter then a lot of RF based equipment would also be controlled by qtirreco...

Hi electroaudio. The idea of muting the tv when a call comes in sounds great in theory but will probably not work well in practice since the IR port on the n900 needs direct line of sight and since it's fairly weak would be even worse than the tv remote itself.
I often avoid IR when it comes to automation since it's not very reliable I only wish that TV manufacturers ditch IR for Bluetooth or something similar but less power hungry. The only reliable IR signal that works from a good distance is the power button on the tv.
I currently use my ps3 (with play tv) with my n900 since I can use my n900 to turn on my ps3 wih bluemaemo to control it flawlessly. anyway, to answer your question about the tutorial, you need to use a pronto hex converter to use those codes. here is the program that will convert them for you for use with qtirreco

Re: QtIrreco for N900

Thanks Cue!
That converterprogram will be well used.

I wouldnt thrust IR either if there was something i wanted to rely upon, but for normal supervised usage it is just fine.
And if qtirecco will mute the stereo with 90% errormargin, then it is a big bonus rather than a 10% failure :D
But at home, where that function would be useful, i use the n900 (+qtirecco) standing on the table just a meter from the IR-reciever so it is quite reliable.

Unfourtunately, my fingers arent as reliable to hit the right button since i have crammed way too many buttons into that tiny screenspace :(
To somehow extend the screenspace would be the biggest and most useful improvement of irreco i can think of...
Especially now with that converterprogram :D now i can finally control the TVs in all the pizzerias, pubs, and restaurants i visit :D

hello all, this being my first post and a new user, please pardon the noobness.

I just wanted to know 2 things:
1)is there any alternate app to the qtirreco
2)is is possible for the qtirreco or any other to have a ir programming function.

thanks

Ive never had a tv that a ready made remote existed for, so Ive never beeb able to use Irreco. Until now. Got a big Panasonic plasma, and apart from the limited range it works great.

Like the way the power to the FM transmitter has been increased, is there any way to increase the range of the IR transmitter?

It has an "upload to DB" menu choice.

I think the "upload to DB" is for qtirreco, button layouts, etc. The actual remote database is hosted here

http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/

you can also contact
lirc@bartelmus.de

with your added remote. More info about adding to the LIRC database is here too

Dont know if there is a way to increase the transmitter, but there are ways to increase the reciever, just google "IR-Repeater".

However, i think the N900 is stronger than both my HK and sony remotes but also much more directional than those, so be sure that you are pointing the IR-beam into the reciever and not somewhere else.

Re: QtIrreco for N900

I tried it but the usual happened.
My topfield 650pvr (eu) aint covered. Sure looks nice though. Glad it works for some at least. I had a great remote on my palm III back in 1998(!). Powered everything from 4 meters and had create & resize button option just by drawing and learned like universals by pointing them at each other. Too bad Qtirreco can be used by some and not all. Maybe when meego starts up thereŽll be the same app.
.. or do I owe someone an apology for not x-term(ing) or reflecting digicameras and such? If only there was more time...

Mine has some problem...
Using the application at the first time, it worked.
But after I've closed the application and open it again, it stopped working...
It's not hang up but it seem not to send any IR(as seen by my old N85 camera).
If it's reinstalled, it back to work.

Any suggestion? Thanks.

Did you "save remote"? I had some problem with the setup as well and found out I did not make an extra step just to "save remote".

Thanks for your respond, but "save remote" couldn't make it work.
I save my remotes everytime I've modify them, such as moving the buttons, or changing command of the buttons.

The problem might be that the application isn't make the IR port to send any data out (no blinking from the IR port as seen by some of my cameras).
It would be glad if the problem will be solved, I love this app.
But it's annoying me that when I want to use, I need to reinstall it...

i found uninstalling and deleting the qtirreco folder allowed my remotes to work again, for those whose remotes don't work could also try deleting all the remotes from the FOLDER and re-configuring them
Maybe you could try this?

Can we download the "whole" remotes for one brand easier? I mean in a simplier way. Downloading and converting each of them would take some time..

Plus, I couldn't convert remote file, the ones at http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/ comes as txt files, not as asked in CCFTools. So it didn't convert :)

Hi sin
please can you clarify exactly what you are trying to do because I'm a little confused.

From what I understand you wish to convert the LIRC database to Pronto codes, or the other way round?

If you are trying to download all the remotes from a certain make from the LIRC database you can use wget recursively. eg for all sony remotes you would do

wget -r --no-parent http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/sony/

I'm not sure if this is what you are after because it's not clear what you are trying to do or what you are using CCFTools for, but I hope that helps.

well, where are these files being downloaded? I should move them to /qtirreco/remotes I guess.

Re: QtIrreco for N900

Hey. I have a Sony Bravia (KDL-40X3500), with the RM-ED010 remote. This doesn't exist in the database, but another post suggested the RM-Ed006 codes, and these seem to work, however, they're missing some quite important functions, namely the EPG. I've looked at the file at http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/sony/RM-ED006, and it seems to have a second remote listed that provides these codes. Not knowing anythign about lirc, I suspect this is because they're listed as 15-bit codes, as opposed to the standard 12-bit codes.

I tried making a new remote file with these secondary codes in it, and it was picked up by qtirreco with all the commands, but they just don't seem to work :(

Re: QtIrreco for N900

Yeah what are we supposed to do with those remote files from sourceforge? How do we use those in qtirreco?
They actually have the one I need other than the database one can load in qtirreco.

EDIT:
I copied the file from sourceforge into the devices dir and it shows up in the edit remote and add buttons screen. But the buttons/commands I add from it don't work. My TV doesnt see any command although it is exactly the right remote. (Sony RM-ED035 they even have a pic of it on the sourceforge lirc page)
Using a generic sony remote in qtirreco works but it lacks some crucial buttons.
do I have to convert the RM-ED035 file from sourceforge lirc page before I put it in devices dir?

PLS Help.

Re: QtIrreco for N900

sin, mr_jrt and casketizer
you need to add the file to
Code:

/home/user/MyDocs/qtirreco/Devices/
but you must also edit
Code:

/etc/lircd.conf
to include a line for your added remote. eg
Code:

include "/home/user/MyDocs/qtirreco/Devices/BN59-00516A"
make sure it matches the filename exactly including case.

they are most likely in the directory you issued the wget command in,
most likely your home folder.

/home/user/sourceforge.net/remotes/Remotemake

something like that.

Found it in my /root/lirc.sourceforge.net :)

hmm.. adding 302 lines only for sony remotes would take time too. There should be an option to choose remotes from a file already in N900..

Ok, I rebooted my N900 and now qtirrec doesn't work. Using my N95's camera, I can see no IR is being sent. I uninstalled the package, then reinstalled it, but it still does nothing.

It worked fine before the reboot. Any ideas?

Edit:

if I run:
Code:

echo "test" > /dev/lirc0
I get my ir flashing, so that side fo things is working, which suggests the problem lies with lircd.

This has happened to quite a few people here. Did you try

#apt-get remove --purge qtirreco
#apt-get clean

This will remove everything. Then try to install it again.
If this doesn't work try searching this thread for the other possible solutions.

I was backing up my config before trying this when I noticed I'd missed a quotation mark off my manual device file. Adding that and everything started working fine.

Errors in the config file really needs to be reported to the user rather than silently failing!

...and of course, I wouldn't have needed to if qtirreco supported multiple remotes per file, as per RM-ED006 ;)
