Just for diagnosis, I have the same graphic problems in Driver, and have the same libgles versions (0.20100611.6+0m5) as you.

Please will someone running Driver with graphics working post their result of 'dpkg -l | grep libgles' so we can compare.

Wierd. I guess you could try crtl-shift-R and see if it rotates. I havent had any trouble playing it myself.

We really need someone with a working driver/shrekkart install to post their libgles info and game startup etc.

Otherwise we are working pretty much blind.

I used his first fix in the decription but now mt device tells me I have over 800Megs free, it's not a problem (I hope) but if anyone has any idea why it would lie to me I'll be glad to here it

Yep thanks for the tip, the 1st fix written under the video got asphalt 5 working from the icon.

I completely uninstalled the game and deleted all files, icons etc.
Then i re-installed the game again and it worked using this:-

Please take care typing and use the correct case where needed including game folder and game file names

Go into x terminal

1 sudo gainroot
2. mkdir -p /media/internal
3. cd /media/
4. chown -R user:root internal/
5. chmod -R 755 internal/
6. mkdir -p /home/user/webos/gamesave
7. cd /home/user/
8. chown -R user:root webos/
9. chmod -R 755 webos/
10. ln -s /home/user/webos/gamesave /media/internal
(credit to zhandro @ maemo.org)

- i then created a folder in /home/user called applications and copied the com. game folder into this folder (all this was done using filebox) -

Install game with this

open x terminal

1 sudo gainroot
2 cd game-folder
3 chmod a+x filename

Test game from x terminal

1 preenv
2 ./filename

Game should load

if it works ok you need to exit the game, press ctrl and delete together and tap x on game window to close,

re-open x terminal window

3 exit (until x terminal closes)

create a game icon with this.

open x terminal

1 sudo gainroot
2 preenv
3 desktopgen game-folder/appinfo.json
4 exit (until x terminal closes)

Use x terminal at you're own risk if used incorrectly it can damage you're phone

If i have made a mistake please let me know.

I used Asphalt 5 v1.1.4

If Driver graphics are messed up even after installing libgles* for you too (black textures), here's a solution posted by ucahmetuc on meegoturkiye.org forums:

1. Create a blank file, name it driver.ini
2. Content for driver.ini:
Quote:

[default]
ForceExternalZBuffer=0
3. Copy it to your device, location: /etc/powervr.d/driver.ini
4. ??
5. profit

Of course you can use nano if you prefer.

Well, It works for me at least :)

Gangstar gives a segfault so I suspect its something more than just a missing file. Can you post the output when you try run it. I don't have the game myself.

Are you sure you did the 'chmod thing' right?

What does this show?
Code:

Can you do:
Code:

ls -la /home/user/letsgolf/letsgolf/letsgolf
- that should show the actual binary file. What you've shown us is the directory listing with 'letsgolf' sub-directory.

edit: same thing with driver!

Ah, it's because you haven't chmod'd the right file - you probably did the directory, not the binary file...
Code:

chmod +x /home/user/letsgolf/letsgolf/letsgolf
Then, when you 'ls -la /home/user/letsgolf/letsgolf/letsgolf' you should see:
Code:

Nokia-N900:~# ls -la /home/user/letsgolf/letsgolf/letsgolf
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root    root      1360851 Nov  3 22:21 /home/user/letsgolf/letsgolf/letsgolf

...showing the file is executable for all users.

It also looks like you want to change the ownership of all your game files to fix some save-game problems:
Code:

chown -R user:users /home/user/letsgolf/
:)

i tried NOVA online too but it didn't connect "connection failed" so i thought it only works in palm
i removed the game but is the multiplayer worth re-installing it ?

Yup because it moves really nice, no lag, yes only 4people at a time per room but the rooms are pretty small anyway but fun, I just wish I could go on now :( I hope it's not the game it'self because then Ima have to re "install" and I haven't reached that far but I hate playing games twice :( but yes multiplayer is great :)

I would say so Javis because a quick strace of several games reveals that they go looking for ini files. Most use a default value if they cant find one.

Actually, all of them: it is the driver who is reading the powervr.ini file, not the games. But that the Pre SGX driver behaves slightly different is a hint.

You don't need it. And I wouldn't personally do anything to it as changing it modifies the entire operating system behavior.

Including but not limited to the window manager.

It could shorten your battery life, it could make Maemo slower, more crashy....
(Fortunately, I don't think it's going to blow your device up)

Hahah I like the last part.. I want my N900 to blow up into a beautiful streak of firework.

Anyway, do you have any idea why the glitch in sprite in some games? And it will not play video intro and stuff. Is there a solution?
