general status question, is a reasonably stable build gonna push from extras-devel to extras-testing or extras in any reasonable time period?

i mean PR1.4 isnt really on the horizon is it? this will basically be the last hurrah for N900?

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

I took the plunge (again) on the meta-package and the CSSU enabler package updates visible today.

Of course I seem to have a problem, now with the installation of a new package "dsme-thermalobject-surface_0.0.1+0m5", being a dependency of one of those updated packages.
It tries to overwrite the "/usr/lib/dsme/libthermalobject.so.0.0.0" file while that file is also already of existing package "dsme".

I tried 'apt-get -f install' but to no luck. Same error. Anyone seen this issue before ? Any pointers for me where to look ? Might be an packaging error or a consequence of my mixed PR.1.2/1.3/CSSU setup but looking at the version numbers, I think it's just something VERY new, being put in an incorrect way. This is extras-devel after all :)

I just wanna personally thank Jaffa and the rest of the crew for having the patience to go on. Please, let them work and wait for the more stable versions if your first reaction after something goes wrong is to come and ask here how to have it fixed for you.

This is the best thing happened for Maemo for the longest of time, don't screw it up guys for the rest of us, just be patient.

Yeah I can confirm that, now it opens only the desired window.

@pillar
Point taken, I've created this bug report, including the way how I fixed it, as I couldn't wait till the (packaging or other) error was fixed at source. I hope new version(s) of the package solve things a different way or it gets confirmed that my personal setup is the culprit, then I guess I'm on my own :D

At Andrew, Jaffa, MohammadAG, and others involved in the CSSU, thanks for all effort so far, Happy to test further changes again. Even if they're a bit bleeding edge :)

The last hurrah yes, but the meaning of this important thread to me is that this hurrah will last as long as the community wants, not depending on Nokia.

I just installed the most recent update. My call log is now empty when I launch the phone app. Even after making a call it does not show up in the log. Also the conversations app no longer updates after sending/receiving an update.

Just installed the update and I don't appear to the same problem. The brower shortcut problem now appears to have been fixed.

Another ''well done'' to the developers from me.

remember to seach the forum before asking for help, this might be related to a corrupted database.

Ok i managed to solve the problem with the call/conversations logs. I guess the .rtcom-eventlogger was corrupted during the update.
For anyone who experiences the same thing this should do the trick:

EDIT: More info here: http://blogs.igalia.com/svillar/2010.../#comment-3162 and https://bugs.maemo.org/3888

Short version: seems that some work would need to be done to prevent IMAP IDLE being an enormous power drain. If a developer wanted to pick up on it and make the PR_Poll() changes discussed, then it'd be includable in the CSSU, IMHO

It seems to be, from reading that material, that the issue is fully fixed in the meego branch. Do we have access to that? If not, is this PR_Poll() a new syscall or something a library is expected to do? I'm fairly familiar with FreeBSD kernel hacking --- so I suppose I could take a hack at this --- but I'd need to get some quick context to get up to speed on what's required.

Just pushed another update (20.2010.36-2maemo9), this should have the shortcut keys fixed[1], for real this time.
Also added some checks to remove package pins in the enabler, this should be transparent to those of you with the SSU enabled.

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

Go to the program manager and check your installed packages. There should be an entry "Maemo 5 Community SSU Package". Look under details and you should see the version "20.2010.36-2maemo9".

See MohammedAG's post a couple of posts back, it seems having only got "8" today he's already updated it to "9", which I assume will be availabe to download soon.

If only we had recevied this kind of support from Nokia in the past!!!

No, the new one from MohammadAG today is 20.2010.36-2maemo9.
The SSU Enabler is now version 0.6-5.

Yes, they've just appeared, and I've upgraded. Again, everything seems ok.

and

3. can someone tell me whats the mp-fremantle-generic-pr in the freemantle ssu mr0 repositorie?

1. It seems that it's simply because you just have some unmet dependencies :). You could try to do either an aptitude update and aptitude upgrade or use apt-get if this is what you prefer and see which unmet dependencies you have (I bet it's this thermalobject package ^^)

2. Maybe you have already disabled the SSU repository in HAM?

3. This is the meta-package linking to all the SSU updates available.
