Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

Hi, for me, Waze starts up only to stay forever in "No network" & GPS not yet initialized.
However, the GPS icon says it connected alright & I could surf net at that those same moments.
I could quit Waze, run Modrana & it'll run fine. Run Waze again & I get what I got previously.

A quick search did not return any results so.
Any idea what's wrong or what I should do to get help? (log files to submit for debugging, etc).

Thanks & best regards,

kh

if its N900, change the AGPS provider to google - this should fix the GPS reception issue - search this thread for "AGPS" as it was suggested multiple times.

Regarding the net status, the waze servers might have been down when you tried or that there is a connection issue with the client. Make sure u have a stable internet connection, start waze and raise the log level (see first post how), and attach the postmortem file here. I will have a look

Thanks DS!

- AGPS - setting was already changed to google long before I install Waze; indicated GPS my itself is not an issue in my previous post when I mentioned ModRana worked perfectly fine. It somehow only didn't work with Waze that time. It seems to work recently though.
- Net status - by itself, there isn't any issue as well; indicated in my previous post when I mentioned ModRana worked perfectly fine, and also that I could surf net at those same moments. One note on this: I tried Waze on separate days (2 weeks apart) & on those 2 days, it reported no network.

I looked at the postmortem file. The errors reported somehow seemed like my waze wasnt' installed properly. Strange. & so I rm -Rf ~/Mydocs/.waze & reinstalled waze.

Attached z.zip containing various files for your diagnosis.
- zp00.zip - postmortem file before I reinstall; seems logging is at minimal.
- zp01.zip - first log file after reinstall; halfway thru, I changed logging to full in menus & closed waze, & did an echo > ~/MyDocs/.waze/postmortem to clear its contents.
- zp02.zip - log file after starting waze 2nd time after reinstall. It would be based on full logging settings I think.
- Screenshot - shows the screen I'm stuck at. I thought I tried to get another screenshot but could not (clicked on gps/network icon & a dialog showed poor gps & no network connectivity).

Could I suggest following:
- Your advise on GPS be placed in first post, above Changelogs. Changelogs can get reaaaaaaaally long & a first time app user might just ignore it.
- Your instructions for logs be placed in first post, above Changelogs as well.
- Waze to save login info perhaps? I need to login with password every time & it's a bit of a hassle...

Thanks again & best regards,

kh

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

Finally! Found a solution to the audio issue which interrupts other players - only tested on the N9 for now.
If it verifies on the N900 I will release it in the middle of next week.

Update: sadly on the N900 it is a little bit more complex - release will be postponed to next week.

Release v0.0.11 for N9 users:
Install my repository for harmattan apps (apps.formeego.com is MIA), then you will be able to see upgrades as they come.
Code:

devel-su
#
killall  pkgmgrd && killall pkgmgrd
#
distro="harmattan"
target="MeeGo_1.2_Harmattan_Maemo.org_MeeGo_1.2_Harmattan_standard"
repo="home-damagedspline-${distro}-${target}"
url="http://repo.pub.meego.com/home:/damagedspline/${target}/"
echo "deb ${url} ./" |  tee "/etc/apt/sources.list.d/${repo}.list"
apt-get update

Update:
Maemo Extras is also MIA, I will upload a deb link later today or tomorrow.

After upgrading waze you must restart the phone to have the ability to use the media player at the same time as Waze

Next release will be all about fixing the language download crashes, never ending navigations and UI changes for the main view as you will request.

Thanks for the support!

Do you think you'll ever release an update that's based on a later version of Waze (not 2.4)? Something more optimized?

At any rate: kol hakavod!!!
I just sent you a donation and encourage others who enjoy this great program on the N9 to do the same!

That depends on Waze (the company). They have closed thier source code in version 3.0 so no one other than thier developers has access to it. If they release the code then yes.

Toda.

same issue here. It might really be a server issue or they might have changed the scoreboard api. I think we should give it a week to see if they fix it on the server side.

Any update on the N900 version ?

I have been using v0.0.10 for N900 with the patched MainView.qml. I have noticed that while using Waze the screen goes blank for a few fraction of seconds and then refreshes the tiles. Is this normal ?

Anyways, Thanks for the wonderful app.

Hi, I've just updated to version v0.0.11 and when I open the app I cannot find the navigate button, where is located now? I didn't delete any folder before doing the update should I do this so I have the new functionality updated? Hope someone can help me.

What the hell is going on with this "Calculating Route" problem? This morning as soon as I selected a previously searched item, I got an immediate route. Then after that back to "calculating route".

This is ridiculous!

What country are you in?

Believe the routing issue is dependent on the Waze server to which you connect. US has its own and I believe the current versions of Waze on the N900 are not communicating with the US servers correctly.

Israel has its own servers, and then there is ROW (Rest of World).

Anyone having issues with Waze communications (i.e. not UI or language issues) should indicate the country in which they are using Waze. The link above indicates how to force Waze to a specific server locale.

We really need individuals from all three server areas to test core functionality. There is simply no way that damagedspline can resolve communication issues outside of Israel without help.

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

Hi @damagedspline, after some days on the road with V0.11 I have a request.
While driving it would be helpful that the Report Issue should be visible instead of the View Issues on the road this to make quicker access when you have to do a report instead of sliding the Icon to have the menu open.
Well that is my point of view, and I have to say that I'm very thankful for the effort you're making on bringing this app.

Regards,
Djcrash1981.

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

Got an issue with Waze from regular repository on N900. Did an install, created account. Everything went fine but Waze was looking for data connection forever, no matter if I was connected using WLAN or GPRS. I tried to uninstall it and reinstall, just to be sure but no change and now even I am unable to login with account created or re-create it again. With temporary account I able to get inside the application but still no chance to connect to network and get the maps.

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

maybe there is a network issue.
waze worked fine for me in the past. tried now....and keep searching for network (even if im connected) so no traffic info, alerts, etc.
what happened?

SamGan 2013-03-12 14:20

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

Same here. Can't log into Waze server today. Tried versions 9, 10 & 11 with same result. Must be a server issue.

PdxDoug 2013-03-12 14:46

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

And, for the first time in almost a year - routing is working on the west coast of the US.

Searching is failing frequently, although the same searches run on waze.com (Bing) succeed. If a search is retried on Waze 0.10 on N900 the app crashes. This is a repeatable event.

But most importantly, the advertisements for Taco Bell and H&R Block tax services are getting displayed.:rolleyes:

I'm facing the same Issue here in Mexico City, even when the network is fully available Waze can't find the network. And I know that the connection is fine because I can receive emails, messages and even navigate with the browser.

What could it be?
