Try clearing apt cache,

Devel-su
rm /var/cache/apt/archives/*.deb

You can also try disabling developer mode

I removed the apt cache you mentionned, I also used QAD cleaner to remove /home/user/.cache and /.grob/cahe.
I've disabled AND uninstalled developer mode...
Restarted device... and same issue :( Any other recommendation?

Thanks gerbick. I was almost starting to lose hope for the community after the inevitable death of Maemo5 but glad there's still good members out there :)

Re: Nokia N9 PR 1.2 official released.

after flashing 1.2 i got warning about changing firmware as some others.

İ tried to flash back to original image it gave error but completed. Booted the phone. but phone doesnt recognize the sim. it says a error happened while reading the card.

Which 1.2 version has no warning at start, i want to flash to that. or what should i do?

javid 2012-03-01 20:04

Re: Nokia N9 PR 1.2 official released.

if you have downloaded files from navifirm - TWO qs

1. did you use nokia care or prod external?
2. what did you use to flash with?

I have a N9 that is still at PR1.0 that i will have to update twice it seems as i dont think you can just go from 1.0 to 1.2 - correct?
So...id like the most reliable - least painful way

EDIT:
is this thread the best way to flash?

Re: Nokia N9 PR 1.2 official released.

mine was 1.1 . i changed the product code and used nokia software updater. At the end of the installation it gave error or sth. İ tried the open and it said warning about changed firmware. So i used win flasher this time to flash with images from navifirm.

at first flash,it finished with success for 1.2 but gave warning as well

at second for 1.1 gave error but completed. (simcard errors after boot)

at third for 1.1 again gave error at the end (simcard errors again)

errors :
bb5 rdc cert read failed
mtc nos ready not received

note: i used navifirm+ nokia care suite to download

Did it with Phoenix from 1.0 to 1.1 and now from 1.1 to 1.2, never had any problems whatsoever.

Best feature for me was getting all the original wallpapers back which I lost due to a reset. That and the little swoosh you get when you close an app

have you ever tried winflasher?
Im trying to understand what would be the least risky method - Phoenix or Winflasher?

Yes, from 1.0 to 1.1, but I got a message saying device not found or something like that and never figured it out.

Phoenix is pretty easy, download everything via navifirm. After phoenix installs (latest version is required, older versions don't work with N9), place the files in program files/nokia/phoenix/product/rm-696 folder, start it, connect N9, select USB connection, scan product to make sure it's recognised, then flash firmware, choose refurbish and it's done in a few minutes. There's a video on youtube, pretty easy actually. You don't even have to turn off the phone after connecting it.

What do you download from navifirm - nokia care or prod external?

After all of the problems - I had to redo my Australian N9, got stuck at the reboot arrow (round arrow) for over 6 hours - I'm starting to really question how much testing went into this release.

I'm skipping PR1.2 on my Dubai sourced N9. Way too many problems with very few reasons to upgrade at the moment.

what should i do to get rid of that warning.

Re: Nokia N9 PR 1.2 official released.

No problems with my PR1.2. Rock solid and a lot faster. Plus the browser is usable with the basic new features, plus you can select default browser. Only problem i have with it at the moment is the placing of the front cam. Never put it at the bottom. That is where you hold your phone. But it's a minor so I can live with that. :D

I waited for OTA for my SIngapore version, was pleasantly surprised. If you can go the easier route of OTA, I would say then, yes, it is worth it, try it out mate.

plus no open kernel. my n9 has the OTA update notification, and unlike normal ones, it wont seem to quit. anybody here know how to hide it?

I did wait for OTA. It reboot arrow locked my Australian 16gb N9.

I had to WinFlash it back to something that would work, but I just switched to the Dubai 16gb Black N9 anyway - PR1.1.1 there, no complaints.

My faith of success was tainted with that OTA failure. And the questions about removing N9QuickTweak, Calendarr, and other things - did that. Reset the phone, set it back up close to stock, then hit the OTA.

Failed on reboot.

The more I read about this happening to people, including myself the more I am believing that some sort of security was added to the firmware in 1.2 to prevent cross flashing on certain handsets. Which is just awful.

Re: Nokia N9 PR 1.2 official released.

Hi everyone,
This site has been a great place to find information about MeeGo, N9, and Maemo.
This morning to my surprise, after manually checking for updates, I was offered the upgrade to PR1.2.
I have a factory unlocked Hong Kong variant (as far as I know) purchased at home in Canada, and currently temporarily living in Jerusalem, Israel. I was in London when PR1.1 was released and it took almost 2 weeks to get the update and by that point I was in Denmark. So to only way 2 days to get the update from initial release was great.

I clicked update all (maybe that was a mistake), I then cancelled some of the ones I could, others downloaded and installed, and some wouldn't install. I then clicked the MeeGo update, did the backup, then told it to download, took about 50mins to download about 283MB, then it did the update, got to about 72%, said the update failed, and would reboot in 5 seconds. It rebooted, attempted to rescue the update, rebooted once or twice during the process, then told me it exceeded the max # of attempts and to try with NSU, or take it to a Nokia repair centre. I pressed ok, rebooted, same thing, Pressed ok again, rebooted, and it seems to be working, and seems to have been updated, along with the apps that needed PR1.2, but the version number reported is PR1.2 (20.2011.40-4_PR_005) and NSU says there's an update of 1.2GB.
Also I can't seem to uninstall apps. I have a few apps that I suspect may be the cause:
1) MeeFolders was previously installed, but was uninstalled about a week ago.
2) I have a Hebrew keyboard (not downloaded from Ovi Store, but I believe it's now available, no longer needed as Hebrew is supported natively in PR1.2)
3) Calendar Feed 0.6.1
4) Calendaricon 1.0.0
5) DiY OperatorLogo 0.0.1
6) Home screen settings 1.0.0
7) LPMCustomizer (neither this or DiY was used, as I took the icon I had off incase it was eating my battery, although unlikely I think, battery was dying in a matter of hours just normal mixed idle/active use)
8) MeeFolders 0.1.0 (installed about 2 or 3 days ago)

I plan to do a back up and use NSU to download and install PR1.2 again. I also so PR1.2 is now on Navifirm, so I guess I could reflash it that way if needed.

What is the best course of action at this point?

Is there a terminal command I can use to manually uninstall those 8 apps before doing the backup and using NSU?

Do you need more info?

Thanks in Advance,
Daniel

Flashing using Nokia Software Updater will erase all your apps, so you don't need to worry about uninstalling things ahead of time.

Check out the flashing guide I posted the other day (though it centers around flasher rather than NSU). :)

Thanks for the quick response, so my best bet is to reflash, I should use NSU first, and if that doesn't work Flasher with the firmware downloaded fro Navifirm?

Also, what's the best way to back up my files? Nokia Suite (ver 3.2.100) which I use to sync contacts, messages, and occassionally my media, or should I download Nokia Link? Or if Nokia Suite is synced and I manually copy my media to me laptop, that should be enough?

Is there a backup guide on here?

Thanks

The only Australian ones that have had the update are unlocked models and ones purchased through Virgin (which I am guessing have vanilla firmware, and not spammed firmware like the Optus one I have....)

Same thing (save for network) but I didn't get OTA. You can go with NSU right now I bet though (mine did.) It was generally fine (besides losing apps) but it did break my dev-mode so I had to do some work to get that working again.
That's an option if you don't feel like waiting for the OTA update though I think most who went with OTA haven't had issues. All I recommend is like said before- remove extra repos and all the tweaking programs. 1.2 is definitely faster and more responsive for me.

I too have a Singapore *_005 on Tmobile USA and have not received the OTA. Additionally, for the life of me, I can not get Nokia Software Updater to recognize my phone. The weird thing is I have no issues with Nokia Link
