Not since using a 3B2. Never really got on with either vi or emacs though to be fair I was working for a company writing their own developer tools including an editor so we dog fooded all the time.

(also, I didn't ask for special treatment, I merely said I had not received an email like the blog post states I should have, and asked what the timeframe for refunds was)

...and refunded! within the timeframe specified! I'm out of pocket AUD$30 thanks to the exchange rate tanking over the last few months, but nevermind.

Now, what to do with it, get a sony tab and port or play taobao roulette, decisions decisions

Why not wait until after MWC next week and then make up your mind

A refund directly from Jolla? That's great news. The mechanism must be in place. so those emails must be imminent.

Good news. But it was handle manually. Process is not in place yet.

Btw my order for a Jolla tablet from last September (I mean when I paid tax after indigogo first payment) has changed status: it has been 'on hold' for months but is now "in picking" ;)
Let's see what's next. I hope it is not a machine error or any sort of false alarm :p especially after the hope from last September... but it seems something (or someone) inside Jolla is moving :o :D

What does the phrase "In Picking" mean?

My tablet is "In Picking" since October 2015 :D
So, hopefully the wait will end in a short time (aka soon :D) for me :)

One wonders. If they're using it in the usual sense, it's the step in between converting the order into a list of stuff to get out of the warehouse and putting that stuff in a box for shipping. But if that step lasts for months . . . well . . . Jolla either has a different definition, or they've got a warehouse worthy of Citizen Kane (or the one where they stored the Ark of the Covenent).

Dave999 2016-02-18 15:41

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

In picking - that seems to be some real progress.

Hope it means what it use to mean and not another stalling move.

If it's still in picking for more than three days it could indeed be seen as a fake play.

Please report back here ASAP i the state change it's state.

No, not unless you were invited before to pay tax...

i actually got skimmed two years ago...
Money stuck in the in the slot, called the cops.
But those f*****s "convinced" me about it surely beeing a mechanical fault and the bank will remove the money next morning.
When i tried to pick up the trap with my knife they held me away and thought i'm nuts...
Next day bank called me and couldn't believe the cops where that stupid...
But imho i am the stupid, shouldn't have called the cops.
lesson learned.
got my money back 3 month later.

Hmmm. Did you know that recording phone calls is against the law in the state of Maryland (where I live) unless you alert the person you are recording ahead of time. Wonder if that applies to recording scam artists?

I know that these rules don't apply to all countries in the world. I couldn't find a good voicemail server for the N900 to fix that legal aspect. Voice calls recording is a much better option then using a pencil on a piece of paper sometimes.

Pretty nice.... I had to google up CLSID scam and spent about half an hour laughing at how people have scammed the scammers :D

I wonder if they would notice if I actually let them "take over" a virtual instance of windoze. I actually have an old WINXP virtual machine as I needed to do some porting-to-linux stuff 2 years back.
(had not even booted that since, but now I checked that it indeed has CLSID{88DCA60-FC0A-11CF-8F0F-00C04FD7D062} present...)

How long would it take them to realize that they were operating inside a VM? (I gather the technical ability of said scammers is probably pretty thin...)

Another thought occured; As I am not really that knowledgeable in all matters windoze, is it possible to reach back through the same remote channel they coaxe unsuspecting victims to open to their computer?
It would be a fun trick to get at their system and install a nice fat back door there when the stooges are busy "cleaning" your honeytrap computer :p

As far as I know in Finland the same thing applies to phone calls as to any private communication; you are allowed to record it or do whatever you please if you are participant in the said call (meaning; not eavesdropping on call between some other parties)

There are however rules concerning the publishing of your call logs, so it is fine as long as you keep it to yourself.

Indeed, I met Dillon, Carol and other Jolla guys at last year's MWC and played tablet and ordered mine. Until now it's almost a year I never heard again from any of them (not even for refund - I have ordered one via online store, which should receive refund notification "soon")
