So why do we overwrite gstdsp instead of overwriting gstomx? Anyway, good job fmg, keep on rocking! ;)

I've got to ask you for a favor
(by 'you' I mean anybody who can build a source)

Currently I dont have my PC with the building tools installed in it, but will anybody be kind enough to build this for me (should be easy, there is a makefile and everything)? It's a newer libgstdsp.so, I need it for the mp4 & jpeg encoding(and some more) plugins which are in it. We can even use it (if its stable) in 720p recording for N900.

Thank you!

Did you check the release date? If not, do it. Also, check when is the last commit for libgstdsp.so attached in the first post https://gitorious.org/~freemangordon...ordons-gst-dsp

Yes I checked the rel dates. they are both the same. But yours is v0.10.1 (gst-inspect reports it) and that is writtent to be v0.10.2. Just build it or not, what I will do with it - its my job. If it turns to be good, I will share it with TMO, if not, only my time is lost.

That version is irrelevant, what counts is the code. My repo on gitorious is clone of https://gitorious.org/maemo-multimedia/gst-dsp (as you might have seen if you did make the effort to click on the link I posted above). The repo for tar.gz on googlecode is https://github.com/felipec/gst-dsp. Just compare the commits and you'll get why there will be no benefit to compile that tar.gz.

Not to say that one needs to know against which DSP API and SN API version to compile libgstdsp.so . DSP API depends on DSP driver version, TI has changed IOCTL codes in kernel 2.6.30 IIRC. SN API depends on which baseimage.dof and codec nodes you are going to use.

BTW tar.gz cannot be compiled for Fremantle as it is, because of gstreamer missing some stuff, see https://gitorious.org/~freemangordon...58a74800e778b2

In short, what we use IS v0.10.2 with Harmattan patches for HD codec nodes(tar.gz has no support for HD codecs), plus fixes for Fremantle.

Ok, you could start by that, couldnt you? I dont have the time to check every file's diffs to get to the conclusion that they are the same. Telling me from your first post that they are the same wouldve saved us 2 useless posts and quite some time.

P.S. and btw if somebody still knows how and wants to improve gst-dsp:
dspipp is hanging when used sometimes
dspjpegenc has encoding-quality property which doesnt work

I want to fix it but i dont have much knowledge in that sphere

Nope, you could start by doing as suggested in Very First Post After Your Post (tm), instead of being arrogant with:

In short, doing Just like you're "suggesting" to others, in your recent plow of many useless "bump my post count" posts.

i just found out that the skype video calls issue happens on my device - when starting the video, the call gets disconnected.

I'm using:

Community SSU version: 2011.38-1Tmaemo8.2+thumb1
Kernel Power Version: 2.6.28.10-power52

and the libgstdsp.so file i have in "/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10" is the same compressed one in the first post.

Any idea?

Hey fmg,

remember my help cry from kp thread?
It looks like the 720p debs are the culprit bringing bridgedriver misconfiguration. After restoring this time I updated at first 720p (still with kp50) and the bridgedriver conf looked like
Code:

options bridgedriver shm_size=0x500000 base_img=/lib/dsp/baseimage.dof
Of course stock kernel did not start with that config. But also kp50 not!?
Even with correct kp conf
Code:

options bridgedriver phys_mempool_base=0 base_img=/lib/dsp/baseimage.dof
but with
Code:

options bridgedriver shm_size=0x400000 base_img=/lib/dsp/baseimage.dof
both kernels (stock/kp50) started!!???
I decided to update to kp52 anyway and after some config changes and lots of boots forth and back now everything works as it should with kp fix config (both kernels are starting).

So no need to solve anything, just curious what might have gone wrong...

--edit
Oh and btw
4. uninstall gstreamer0.10-openmax from n900. As root:
apt-get remove gstreamer0.10-openmax

would also remove mp-fremantle, so I just deleted that lib...
