Seller's market rules. They see a high demand and would be stupid not to milk it while they can. Don't worry, the price will drop again once all five desperados have purchased their tablets. The day will come when the seller will be happy to pay you to take the remaining stock away.

Like hell it will. So far 100% success rate and only 5% will get (possibly) their tablets if we're optimistic. They can expect few k sales if people still hope for jolla tablet or actually want one. Too bad for those hoping to get 2k for one on ebay, chinese undercut for democracy/free market

edit: KS/IGG first X orders get it cheaper(jolla did it too), will be more expensive soon == Taobao, whoops, now it's 1800

With the money they can come up with on the black market with 540, they could easily rebuy 1080, rinse repeat, genius plan

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

Holding the refund until they have something to sell might be a stroke of genius !

Jolla force us to set up PayPal . That is a scam within the current scam. Double scam.

Nice with an update though. Thank you Jolla.

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

Only three scams in one post? You can do better than that, Dave!

EDIT
I have just read the update. Sadly I have to agree with Dave. Insisting on a refund in case of CC payments by a method other than the CC used in the first place is definitely dodgy. I am not sure it is even legal. Plus of course PP will take a cut of the refunds.

Still planning half of IGG contributors to be refunded before end of march, hard to believe :/

You made your CC payment to Indiegogo, not Jolla HK though (as in, Jolla HK doesn't have your transaction ID, nor your credit card number, which makes refunds rather 'fun' to execute). Jolla HK got a lump sum bank transfer from Indiegogo. Nobody would want to use Paypal unless it was the only way to do it practically.

(Please, blockchain become mainstream soon. One javascript JSON RPC call to make a transaction..)

Unfortunately, to me this is a little of the 'boy who cried wolf', my brain won't let me believe a thing they say! :D

Credit card refund might be a little tricky, but you can't tell me the paypal ones are difficult, I just don't believe it! :p

*Update* We have just recently shipped a batch of 77 devices to backers who earlier confirmed their order in the Jolla Shop.
Mine is still 'Paid' in shop.jolla.com and no DHL guys have been texting or calling to me :( Two tablets, 64gb for me and 32gb for my brother. IGG #18 and #448 Maybe DHL guy just wants to surprise me:)

My tablet was delivered yesterday :)
I did not receive any info from DHL and the status in Jolla Shop is still on "In Picking"...

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

It's exciting to hear about all of these deliveries. From what I've heard everyone's really impressed with the hardware and OS. It's a crying shame that there aren't more of these going out. That funding delay really killed a beautiful product before it got a chance to realize its true potential. Reminds me of the N9 in a lot of ways.

ejjoman 2016-03-01 09:41

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

Yes, the hardware is really good in my opinion.
The Jolla Phone feels really slow compared to the tablet (e.g. launching apps).

Just the software needs some polishing - a little bit stuttering and flickering here & there, but that's "whining on a high level" (do you even say this in english??? :D )

It's really a shame that this project went into this direction :(

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

I get the whole PayPal thing. It has been well over a year. Credit cards could have been expired or closed down. A uniform method of refund makes sense.

Making us wait longer however, does not. They should have made personal contact by now.

Received mine yesterday. TaoBao -> YoyBuy -> EMS (returned) / DHL (worked, shipping in 6 days from China to Brazil).
Updated Sailfish OS 2 times, everything working 100%.

Reminds you of the N9?

I'm not wanting to knock the tablet but it's no N9.

The N9 set Nokia's design direction for years and was a beautiful piece of original design that won awards when all phones were tending to look the same. IMHO it's up there with the original iMac as a piece of design.

Sticking 'Jolla' on the back of an Aigo tablet isn't.

me too except China -> UK - I also order over the Chinese New year, and was informed all the way about the progress.

I think the 100% is a little optimistic <g> No USB to go

But it is a beautiful device, screen is amazing.. in fact it would be a lot easier if it was a pile of poo, as it is it has soooo much potential, most of it will never be realised.

Im no programmer but I have installed the SDK on my Linux Desktop, thinking in some crazy way I might try and get some code running. (midnight commander) .... dreams

Jolla had a design partner for the Jolla Phone, what makes you think they didn't for the tablet?

The Aigo tablet says nothing of where the design originated, merely who it was licenced to.

Question for those of you that have gotten a tablet. Are you able to down load apps from Jolla store? Are they the same as phone apps? If so how do they scale on screen. Same question wrt android apps. Thanks!

EDIT: If you see some interesting differences, some screen shots might be good to show.

Cost of buying tablet $212.80 - £152.75
+ I went through paypal so I could at least try and get some money back if it all went wrong, and I think they took 10% $20 -£14.34 in currency conversion

Postage - Shipping tax (at their end ) service charge and insurance $62.62 - £44.83

So far no tax this end

TOTAL Cost $295.42 - £211.92

Youbuy .com did give me a $5 new user credit and DHL was a few dollars cheaper, so account is currently actually $7.69 - £5.52 in credit!

The easiest way to do that is to not set up a PayPal account at all. This ain't the numbered Swiss bank account from the movies that the Nazis are always hiding their loot in.

But don't despair. Just use mine. When your refund appears, I'll send it to you soon(TM). You accept third party, out of state starter checks, right?

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

I received the information that the tablet arrived at home.

Date and time Status of Item Location
23/02/2016 17:53 Posted 100022
24/02/2016 00:31 Departed from export office Beijing
28/02/2016 09:42 Arrived at destination import office Zurich
28/02/2016 09:42 Held for customs inspection Zurich
29/02/2016 16:44 Departed from destination import office Zurich
01/03/2016 11:27 Delivered 121960

It's hard to stay concentrated at work knowing that…

The process was very long as I ordered the tablet at Yoybuy.com just before China went on holidays for 1 week (8th February).
I ordered this product: http://world.taobao.com/item/525246736574.htm (the price at that time was 1298 Y, it’s now 1880 Y).

Details of the cost:

• $209.84 Products fee
• $32.01 International shipping
• $20.98 Service fee
• $1.31 Customs Fee
• $7.92 Insurance Fee
• $0 Storage Fee
• $ --- Coupons Fee
• $272.06 Total

This is without the VAT.

Will post additional information later.

Maybe best ask this in the JT User Experience thread? I can download fwiw and the stock applications are modified for the tablet so they look fine.

JuhaniLassila owned up to it (using the Aigo design) back at the end of September last year on the Official Jolla Blog site

No, they admitted that it was based on a factory reference design that they modified. Aigo used the same design, with fewer customizations.
