I definitely want one, and I guess Spring 2007 isn't to much of a wait. As for using it as a beat-box, I think it's safe to say history has a strange way of repeating itself if that happens.

I've been pondering the 870 a bit. I'm about to be completely wrong here, but I don't think it will come out; not in the form we've been seeing it in anyway. There are a lot of converging technologies and what we've seen in pictures looks more like an experiment to see what's possible.

How far in advance do companies prototype devices, especially to that level of detail? (I mean the first IPod was a printout of the controls taped to a styrofoam block).

What does appear to be maturing is the niche definition that the x70 line falls into. With two slots, that'd give 4180MB of storage (counting the internal 180MB mixed with 2 2GB cards). That's enough for music/movies on the go, with the ability to stream when Wifi access becomes available. If you want 60GB of media with you, maybe the LifeDrive is more to your liking... if you want the essentials, the 870 sounds like it would fit that bill.

Hmm, you might have something there Hedgecore. With the apparent change in the camera's ability to rotate completely and the confusion that remains surrounding the memory slots, it does look more like a work in progress edition now that I think about it. Also how old are these pictures anyway?

The Internet Tablet seems more to me like a mobile terminal (albeit with additional features) that provides remote access to nodes that are less mobile on your wireless network. The great thing about the tablet is that there are multiple ways to access that network.

On the picture which showed the MiniSD card, there appeared to be another card upside down with the word NOKIA on it. Any idea what that is? It looked like a smart card to me.

Actually, now that I looked at it a bit more, that MiniSD appears to in fact be a MiniSD adapter. Compare this image with the one in the tablet.

It may be the case that there are actually two full size SD slots and someone got confused when they saw the MiniSD adapter in the one by the battery. This would definitely make more sense as MMC can be used in SD slots just fine.

If true, and with the 8gb SD cards Toshiba announced this week that would be a LOT of storage!

under the tan piece of paper there's probably the model/prototype name along with a serial number of some sort. (the background grey color reminds me of a similar part in my nokia 6021 phone, which has the model number written on)

DC, the more I look the more I think you are correct. It's a full sized SD card slot with a miniSD adaptor in it. COOL!

I've been trying to guess the width of the unit at the botton and the top. I think I like the curved-out area at the top; it could be easy to hold when using FBReader in vertical mode. Also, with the 'stand' wrapped around your hand, this could be a lot easier to hold and use.

I was worried that the weight would go up too much but with a full sized SD card I can retire my mp3 player which gives me three extra ounces anyhow.

I think that the external card may be a miniSD card. If you look at the tip of the card sticking out it is slightly smaller than the full-sized SD card. That seems to indicate that it is neither SD nor RSMMC but likely a miniSD.

Hmm, looks like it's about the same size as an MMC or SD card to me.
