sorry being i have just obtained the n900 may i ask what you mean and in simple terms how i am supposed to enter the information on the terminal..............where and what is the terminal.............i apologise for my ignornance

terminal is the xterm application which you can find in your application catalogue.

just cannot install http://applenorange.in/maemo-mapper_...2008_armel.deb

tried console apt-get install still cannot.

can anybody help

First download the file from http://applenorange.in/maemo-mapper_...2008_armel.deb
Then, execute following
$sudo gainroot
#dpkg -i /path/to/downloaded/file

either ite a 404 error or display garbage
