I think if Nokia did release all driver source it would benefit far more and be much better liked than keeping everything to themselves especially to the people capable of development leading to better quality support.

For example the usb tranciever chip, ok we know it is not wired for otg but hell is not exactly rocket science to put right and look at the HUGE amount of interest in otg which they never will complete without the driver and re-wiring needed.

They want to save otg for the successor to the N900, money money money THATS the reason they do this !.

That is not true - all USB sources are open. It is a research-and-programming problem but has nothing with closeness of Nokia.

No care from Nokia . I got a low end android phone recently LG540 and I am stunned how useful and slick even android 1.6 is. I am sick of the phone ui bug in n900. I have missed a lot of calls so will switch from a £500 phone to a £99 one. Shame

Well there you go as it seems Nokia just dont want the closeness and that is the failure of support as we all have learned from the meager support this device has.

And as for the usb driver, you will need it because it links directly to the cpu and even though the wiring is not complete it still needs to be specific to the main board of this device.

Yeah me too. I told him I will protest by switching to android but why should they care since they took my money for such an unfinished product. I am using a low end android phone now. It is no where near as powerful as n900 but user experience is much better and for a fifth of the price.

Considering this thread is about the tweet session, it doesn't help to point people off to other "vent" threads. I, similarly, don't see most of these as trolling so much as frustrated discussion.

What else did you expect under the current Nokia/Maemo climate? Now that they opened up a channel of communication (one small, eeeeetsy teeeeeensy little sliver of communication with SOMEONE at the company... the very TINIEST "in" of communication) they completely ignored, even in marketing terms, ANY mention or reply about the N900 or Maemo or MeeGo.

People ARE going to point that stuff out, vent and complain on here (you know... at talk.maemo.org). Labeling it "troll" isn't really productive either.

What kind of conversation did you want to hear? I'm genuinely curious to know what you would have liked to have seen, given the content of the session and expectations.

If you pair the N900 up to use the Android as a bluetooth modem, you can improve your telephone experience AND still get data on your N900 anywhere you go. (Already doing that with my N800)
