Re: Did your N900 ship today continued
Well, here are my last words. Thanks 4 giving us hope that Nokia does not fail. Damn that they do .... To be true, i dont think that the N900 will be that bug free as they think. Come on.. 300 People find many problems ?
Maby 300 Users, but not 300 devs. I think there will come more bugs, when people start to do things (push wrong buttons) because they are new to the device and dont really know whats going on. But thats only my opinion. Im getting sick to read every day a new release date. A big thanks goes to Peter. Nice for showing up here. And this is where i started to think about being here. I wait now till i get a email that my phone is shipped, and then i come back. I like the comunity a lot and i think there will be lots of fun when everybody is still here when the divice is in everboys hands. Soooo c u soon. |

Anything bad or negative about Nokia gets posted on their blog. Maybe it is jealousy or just lack of accepting the fact that there are other markets than the US. |
Re: Did your N900 ship today continued
You didnt know engadget writers are bunch of appl fan boys?
|
Re: Did your N900 ship today continued
Now its true, that "during november" means "end of november":
"Bei Vorbestellung ist eine Anlieferung voraussichtlich ab dem 25. November 2009 möglich." "At preorder delivery will be from 25. november 2009" ( http://shop.nokia.de/nokia-de/product.aspx?sku=6958534 ) Maybe i will cancel my preorder, and wait for the N900+1 device. Cant be so long after the N900 is finally released :( |

Re: Did your N900 ship today continued
To make my statement clear: I dont mind that the N900 will (maybe) come on 25. November. I am a bit disappointed, that the timeline changed day by day:
end september 12. october 30. october "during november" 25. november ... 2012 ... I dont know. Thats bad communication. Saying "during november" when knowing it will released end of november is no good behaviour. Its just a "marketing" statement to clam down the crowd (me), but its not good. Why not stating "End of the year" (ok, "End of 2009" should be better, to not wait longer than maybe 2011). Or why not saying "Sorry, we cannot keep our timeline because of *insert_any_true_reason_like_hardware/software_problems_here*. I am really bad disappointed by this kind of communication to us. |

Other places have obviously been giving all sorts of funny dates, but that's because they want your preorder (and then hope and pray that the date becomes fact) - not because they have insider information on when it's going to be, and obviously, it doesn't work to give a date that is in the past. Obviously my view of this is somewhat tainted, as I've primarily been checking Nokia UK, but I've also wandered around Nokia Finland, and a few of the other local stores, and I've never seen *any* officially released hard date. |

Re: Did your N900 ship today continued
Yes the hard dates were all placed on shop.nokia.de
And the official Nokia site should know when the thing is done. |
Re: Did your N900 ship today continued
That's it. I'm out. Just called Nokia and cancelled my preorder.
Seriously, all of us have ponied up $550-$650 for a phone sight unseen. We've practically volunteered to be the first round of real-life testers of a new product (how many of us ordering a new half-a-G linux phone aren't technically aware) and we've been rewarded for that with - being kept in the dark - when any information *is* offered, it's vague or incorrect - first "official" announcement is, three days before they've been saying it will ship, that it will be delayed another month. For god's sake, rumors about the *next* Maemo are out before they release this one. What a crappy job they did with a group of people who were sold on the phone as soon as it was announced. |

Considering there is NOTHING comparable to the N900, anyone who is cancelling because of the delay that are NOT doing it because "I something urgently for work before then", were clearly not very sold the device to begin with. In fact I wonder if those people cancelling is actually a blessing, less pissing and moaning about "no MMS" or other features we already knew it would not have. I really cannot see any logic to cancelling because its been "delayed a month". I am stuck on an old ancient Samsung with 128x128 pixel screen but I wont be wasting my money getting something else, I will wait for the N900 because its the ONLY device which does what I want. I already put up with Windows Mobile because it nearly did what I wanted and Android or Symbian were just not designed all that well. Maemo is trying to do something that is well overdue in the mobile market, make an efficient OS that isn't slow as sludge and things like IM integrate into the whole experience instead of being icky addons. Anyone who thinks that is not worth waiting for I question why you wanted the N900 in the first place. |
Re: Did your N900 ship today continued
My reaction is so angry because it's again ESTIMATED, as ALL other dates were. Its October 22nd, and its expected PROBABLY to be released on November 25th, PROBABLY, or probably NOT. One week before 25th It will be moved again, as id did the 3rd time now!
One other thing that annoys me very much, is that nokia didn't notify me by email about ANY of these delays, ... No explain, no sorry, nothing, ... Again: I preorderd 29th August. I must be an idiot to ever preorder anything so early. I was confident and thought it was a good descision. I won't cancell my preorder nevertheless... |

All i want to say is something like "Come on, there is no need for 300 people to pre-test" Look at the N97, in my eyes a total disaster @ release, but when new fw. is out, many many people are happy with their phone then. Many sayed that this update is the fw, that should had been on the N97 for release. What i want to say: Do they think when they give 300 devs a N900 the bugs will go down to 0 ? I dont want to say that in a bad way. Devs know a lot more where to find bugs then we do. Its just bugs are everywhere, in every piece of elektronic. Give us our phone. :p We coud have lived with that bugs, because we know that there are updates. Look it that way: I see more and more people say that they quit with Nokia. I understand them 100%. What was the Problem ? I think they would have found te same, maby more bugs, when they did let go the N900 much earlyer to us. Thats my Point. Nokia can do whatever they want. They should know what they are doing. All i know, this is absolutly no good promo 4 Nokia. And all i sayed here sould not be understand as in a bad way. Over and out :D |

Re: Did your N900 ship today continued
I think Nokia should have done a little bit more planning. They should have held off until the summit to announce the n900 and then start the pre-order. Then give the pre-release hardware and software about a month to work out the major bugs that would keep anyone else from developing. Then we would have been waiting from end of October until late November when the device will be released. Which would be a typical pre-order wait. Anyone that keeps up with new technology are always waiting. But that kind of wait is not as bad as completing an order form and looking for the actual release of the device you have been waiting for a year or more to start using. Regardless I am keeping my nokiaUSA pre-order, and cant wait to see the ship notification, because I have been following the n900 for a while now.
