Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

Nokia are a bunch of ******s.. their attitude is seriously lame... first it takes over a month more to start releasing the phone then it was supposed to, now when they made the press release they act stupid and have no idea when it will be available in certain markets and it seriously pisses me off. My story from Czech Republic:

22nd September - I call Nokia, they sad mid-October
1st October - I call Nokia, they say second half of October
20th October - I call Nokia, they say last week in October
27th October - I call Nokia, they say last two days of October
1st November - I call Nokia, they say around November 14th
5th November - I call Nokia, they say mid-November and the phone is available for pre-order via their online shop
8th November - I call Nokia, they say late November
10th November - I call Nokia, they say second half of November, the N900 pre-order page was removed due to lack of units, Nokia releases Press-Release stating it will available in Czech Republic last week of November, the website states November 20th
11th November - I call Nokia, they say January 1st, only under 1000 units will be available for Czech Rep. last week of November for the pre-orders
12th November - I call Nokia, January 1st and that the units coming in November will be for testing software
13th November - I call Nokia and they say November 25th, but only a very small amount of units, other then that January 1st, they have a model in one of their stores, the other main store doesn't have a date and in one shop they have one unit as a promo.

What the F* is this? Nobody knows anything lol? Some people who pre-ordered will get it around November 25th and others will have to wait till January? What are they thinking? No way... and I like an *** help Nokia promoting the device on the internet for free just because i love it so much?

Nokia, we want more N900 units in the Czech Republic, now!

P.S. I had the model in hands today and the device is soooo small...just amazing..and sexy...

This is true, I was told MPD and the Nokia flagship stores will have two months exclusivity on the N900, so whatever contracts MPD will offer, that's it until January.

Maybe orders from Play + Amazon + Expansys, other retailers and network operators will not be fulfilled until January when the exclusivity ends.
Unless they get the stock from some 3rd party. I'm thinking getting from flagship stores at wholesale price then resell?

I think that they just realized that nokia has made a paper launch.

I'm afraid that no user will receive it's phone before the end of November/beginning of December.

I'hope I'm wrong, but I'm afraid I'm right:(

I really don't know how I've missed this exclusivity deal. I've been following various threads and never heard this before.

You may be right, since some N900s would have leaked through to consumers by now. If none tomorrow, Nokia is talking BS.

If so, is Nokia always this full of *****?

You could still cancel and go with Nokia Online Store?
Get yourself 25% off the £500? (I'm not sure if the 15% discount code still work though)
But you're saving 50 quid at least!

Guys, guys, guys:

Nokia announced N97 shipping 7 June. Phone was in stores between 20th and 23rd.

Leave factory -> picked up by international expedite carrier -> clear external customs -> wait until there's a space on a plane -> fly to destination country -> clear incoming customs -> travel to distributor -> get sorted into batches -> ship to retailer c.o. -> ship to individual stores

Personally, I suspect we'll see the first phones (in very limited numbers, in flagship stores) on the 17th.

But we'll have to wait and see...

A call to the Nokia green numbers, here in Italy, ends always with a random answer:

1) We have no date, at the moment

2) The shipment was started two days ago

3) The shipment starts about in the middle of next week

4) The shipment starts on November 25

and so on

All the above answers are coming from today calls.

mmm. It's a risk to start again at the end of the line, this close to release, assuming I'm in a pre-order queue with play.com. I need to have a good old think / drink! That's put a downer on my weekend :(

Is that only for the UK or worldwide? Though I'm guessing by the mentioning of flagship stores it's worldwide.

I have to say (if this is true), Nokia is doing a great job of sinking the ship before they even set sail out of port. Irritating the open source community they've worked with and tried to cultivate by being a ghost, the initial delays with no explanation or communication. And now burdening 3rd party retailers who had expected the product to arrive around the end of 2009. And they expect this to help them beat back the advance of Android, the iPhone, Windows Mobile 7? Pfft.

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

Google Translate of the N900 related livechat questions:

Quote:

Q: This question will certainly be with, but ask anyway =) But why the N900 takes so long to come out? And the battery will be better than what is indicated when tested Mobile cell phone?

A: Hey, N900 is a good example of what we are and all that develops open source has ådstakommit with Maemo software. We work very closely with developers of open source and Maemo Summit, which was in October, we loaned out a few non-marketable units ready to get more feedback. The feedback was important for us and when we want to give the best user experience with the N900, we decided to postpone the start of global sales from October to November. Betteriet has 270 hours of standby and 6 hours of talk time. However, there is a challenge for all manufacturers of high-end units on the market today that battery consumption depends on how you use it, and in which networks and how they are configured. Personally (with fairly strong use) so I can drive held the day to then load it at night. Then I am always online on div IM services, running mail, browser, twittrar etc. It can survive much longer than that and also less than that, depending on the use of data and processor-intensive applications. N900 has a 1320 mAh battery and battery-efficient processing.

Q: When towed N900 in Svergie and why was the person in so late?

A: N900 will be released in Sweden later this year of 1.1 software. Why do we in Sweden do not drop it now at 1.0 software has to do with that we want more volume available at säljstart and we want to ensure that everyone who receives a N900 in my hand, a user experience as it is intended. With the 1.0 software does not support N900 SIM ATK. All consumers do not care if they have just a SIM card with ATK, and we at Nokia can not guarantee that all will be enlightened about the items. out in stores or to anyone who receives a hand will get the amazing experience that will give the N900. In October we had a developer conference with Maemo, N900, and open source developers. We received very good feedback which we wanted to take advantage of and implement before säljstart which also affected. Hope this answers your question. We understand that many people who pre-ordered to have their N900 and we will work on in order to ensure that we can deliver them as soon as possible with a guaranteed quality user experience.

Still seems a strange decision for Nokia to not let anyone else sell / deliver it until next year. Expansys, Play... don't seem to be aware of this!

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

Are Nokia really that stupid to start selling the device in January and not have it ready by now or end November as they promised? Because to me it seems that the only people getting the N900 this month are the ones who pre-ordered it and the rest of people will have to wait till January. I mean come on - no Christmas sales? Nokia produces the best phone ever and they don't have enough units for people to buy? Come on, how dumb can this get? People are pissed off as it is already for they have been waiting through the many delays uptil now. If Nokia will really have another batch in January, they are losing many customers. Either someone cancels their pre-order because they are angry about the long waiting or they get out and buy another device. Come on Nokia, think please. And you can call me whatever you want, but i have spent 3 months of my life looking into everything about this phone and for 3 months helping people on the czech forums understand the device properly with over 20 pages of replies. Sorry, but i want to get the device now, not wait for 1,5months for the next batch. So I will say it again, loud and clear:

We want more N900 units in the Czech Republic, there is not enough, thank you!

I wouldn't take too much notice of a so-called 'exclusivity deal' that's has the single source of one salesman at the Regent Street store. Remember all those salespeople who swore blind to a number of people that the n900 would ship on the 9th? ;)

Amazon, Play etc all had deals to take preorders. Then they came to a point where they removed the device from search, and stopped taking pre-orders. My guess is that Nokia may have said they didn't want anyone else making general (non-pre-order) sales. More likely, I think the guy in Regent Street meant that you won't be able to buy it in Carphone Warehouse, Jag or Phone4U till January, which I think is fairly standard procedure.

If Amazon, Expansys and Play had a deal with Nokia for pre-orders, they'll get them. Maybe a week or two behind, but not delayed till January. Imagine if Play, Amazon etc all decided not to deal with Nokia in the future? Not a game they want to play.

I just received call from Nokiausa because i preordered nokia n900 from them and cancel it. She asked me if i want to place an order with them and get 15% discount. She said that they are shipping them now... I said no because i bought it from amazon with 3 year HDA warranty.
I just want to say that it was nice of them to do that.
They make me feel better. Also it is official that they shipping them.

No back to the rig until 17th, home on the 24rth again, then away on the 15th Dec again. If the device isn't here by then i will stab anybody who is, knows of, or is related to a Nokia Sales rep.

interesting about is that the N900 isn't in the list of "soon to be available" models nor in the list of "actual models"

you can only see it if you choose "all models"

really fascinating
