Haha, I went from 23mb free, disabled extras/extras-testing/extras-devel and went to 48mb free, no need to restart, just reload repos (does automatically after you disable those 3)

We got to lose a lot of nastiness out of this forum :( Nobody should be told to "FU" and nobody should be called stupid..
Let's all hold hands in the spirit of firmware upgradedness! :) Yes I am a stupid peace loving hippy, if anyone doesn't like it then 'FU' ;) |

1. The NAND is not from TI, it's from Samsung. It is not integrated in the OMAP, but rather PoP. 2. 512MB was available since at least start of 2009, more than 10 months before N900 went to market. 3. The device has a lot more storage, it's Nokia that decided on the file systems layout. |
Re: New N900 firmware 3.2010.02-8 released today (16 Feb)

Re: New N900 firmware 3.2010.02-8 released today (16 Feb)
25.4 Mb rootfs -> disabled all catalogs but Nokia Applications and Nokia System Software Updates brought space to 47 MB and make a backup to SD, then Updated OTA,....'operation failed' flashed once after finishing downloading, it started to install anyway, and finished without problem and is running smooth so far. Everything/setting remained after update, nothing got erased and secured wifi continued to connect.
After updated, I re-enableed all my 'toy' catalogs, and it is now 22.0 MB, the new update ate up 3.4 Mb + rootfs space. About product: Version:3.2010.02-8 bun |

winge winge, can we get back on track please everyone? So far the update seems to be out in alot of places. For anyone who has problems with not enough space/room for the update you can either
Please bear in mind some of the methods require root access, and there is a warning in place as you can do some damage, brick your device, and even turn it into a chicken if you are not careful! (That last bit may not be entirely true...) Some root commands that can help, once you have root (Will not explain here how to get it.)
Removing applications will help.... Disabling testing and development catalogues/repositories. And don't forget to reboot :) - always helps! People seem to have a consensus of needing around 43mb+ - 50mb should be safe :) |
Re: New N900 firmware 3.2010.02-8 released today (16 Feb)
I'm starting to think the updates aren't rolled out on a regional basis. Someone from my area posted it showed up for them, but still nothing for me.
No matter, I've already downloaded the .bin and can flash it, just wanted to try this newfangled OTA updating to see how it works, since I didn't have enough room on the last update and had to use the flasher. Looks like nsu flasher comes to the rescue once again. |
Re: New N900 firmware 3.2010.02-8 released today (16 Feb)
One new feature i noticed with this update is when you receive a voicemail, you get a notification like when you get a new email. I have never seen it before, but thats a good change/addition.

Any idea? Buggy installation routine? Cheers. Paul |

Though I have been able to update the firmware to 3 but the roofts is almost full with only 35 mb free. I have uninstalled most of the apps but still no good. What to do. I have rootsh installed.

Re: New N900 firmware 3.2010.02-8 released today (16 Feb)
I really don't like the update so far, all applications are gone now, my desktop cleaned and I see no real improvement. I think that was my last update on the phone...
Is it normal that everything gets deleted? It didn't even removed the files of the applications correctly now all the folders etc are still there but not the apps :( |
