Hey, gurus: Is this thing safe to use for those weirdos that have multiboot and nitdroid installed, i.e., would this mess up the multiboot and make me work :) ? I am currently using power kernel-45 and multiboot and nitdroid .09. Thanks for the good work and TIA for my question,

bun

hmmm... tried searching on how to edit transitions because thp said that he requested for a merge with the cssu hildon right? the desaturated one? is it merged?

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

i got these updates yesterday morning

http://ceroberts75.001webs.com/pictu...06-updates.png

and all seemed fine until after i had changed my battery.

then after a reboot, my calendars and all calendar info was gone.

in trying to restore only the communication data from my recent backup....it takes forevver and then hangs at 100% and never finishes even after waiting over 1 hour....so i force a reboot, whuch it then states successful restore of data....but all my calendar data is still gone!

According to the bug report, the problematic change has been found and reverted, so it's just a matter of checking in the update, rebuilding and testing. Hopefully this means a fixed version will be out before too long.

It should be as safe as for anyone else. There's no changes to the kernel so it shouldn't affect the multiboot process at all.

It's true . I can confirm with my N900.
Only the desired browser window opens now.

It's not fixed. Latest version, Maemo9, still does the bookmark window thing for the first link to be launched from desktop after startup. Subsequent links work fine.

On Power-46.

Not for me it isn't.

It appears to work OK, after the maemo9 update

edit: oh, you say "after startup". I haven't cheked this behaviour after startup.

before the maemo9 update, the problem was occuring always.
now it does not.

but i don't know what will happen in the case you are describing. i'll check it out

I recall MohammedAG stating prevously in the thread that has not everybody wanted the desaturated one then it wouldn't be part of the CSSU?

Although probably most people may well want it anyway?

erm... i think it's probably better to say that he thinks that it is better not to put desaturation automatically in the Modded HD. It'll be better to have it as an option instead of modding it completely different compared to the one that is in default now.

I know a lot prefer modded HDs like two column/noblur but desaturation and stuff but that would be up to us to patch it to the hd.

They're becoming options in transitions.ini, actually, thanks to the work of thp.

wow...

great!

THat means, another question should be asked...

What are the things that need to be changed in transitions.ini in order to get desaturation?

EDIT: SolVED!!!

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

well... apparently themecustomizer would conflict because i had "use custom fast transitions" on. So i turned that off and it SEEMS to work

can't desaturate.... but CAN remove blur... so it seems snappier... but I would want to have the right settings to get desaturation as well

droitwichgas 2011-02-07 13:41

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

Following the CSSU updates is it now easier to change the HD to get desaturation and also multiple desktops? If so is the new process listed anywhere on the forum, as there is no reference to them in this thread and the other threads only seem to relate to the changes required pre-CSSU?

Is the water temperature fine... before I jump right in. Just to be sure :)

Anybody have problems with choppy sip audio? I have big time choppy on the audio when using internet phone, sip, other than that, my N900 is functioning fabulous. Would this CSSU made the sip audio goes away, or improve it?

TIA,

bun

Pushed a new update today, fixes modest's attachment bug and includes thp's patch for desaturation and task manager layouts (edit /usr/share/hildon-desktop/transitions.ini, bottom section)

I started on QTransitionsControl to make this easier, not sure when I'll be done with it.

I'm testing TwimGo, and it stopped working and I'd like to know if it is related to CSSU:

wow, thanks!

Are there any problems expected when using ThemeCustomizer or themes with their own transitions.ini? Or is it just ignoring these settings?

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

I asked thp about that, he said it uses defaults if the transitions.ini file does not contain the lines, so it shouldn't cause problems.

Code:

##
# Special tweaks (a restart might be required)
##
[thp_tweaks]
# Blurless desaturation (0 = default, 1 = MeeGo/Symbian-style)
blurless = 0

# Bigger task switcher (0 = default, 1 = single column, 2 = two columns)
taskswitcher = 0

is everything you need to add and edit to your existing transitions.ini if it doesn't have that block.

Is it possible to still change how MUCH saturation there is with the no-blur option? Near as I can tell, right now it's not possible (fiddling with saturation values does nothing if you have blurless = 1. Brightness works nicely with Blurless = 1 though). Can this request be forwarded to thp, or shall I annoy him myself with it?

Also: "killall hildon-desktop" with Blurless = 1 resulted in Hildon-Desktop hanging in the first time I ran it. I could access power key menu. (Didn't think to try Ctrl+Shift+X or my x-term launching shortcutd shortcut.) Second/third time I tried, it worked just fine without crash. So if people are having random bugs trying to reset hildon-desktop without bothering to reboot, it seems to not be an every-time thing.

Also, as far as I can tell, turning blurless on/off REQUIRES hildon desktop restart, but changing the task manager icon tiling does not - though you may need to kill/launch programs until it retiles itself according to the new pattern. I haven't fiddled too much yet. (Reboot doesn't seem to be necessary in either case, "killall hildon-desktop suffices - but maybe there's long-term bugs that might crop up from doing that often enough.)

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

is there allready anything fixed that was broken before the start of CSSU or are you guys only causing problems that you need to fix.

the stuff you guys messed up was far more important to use then a small bug in the terminal wich 99% of the users didn't even mention.

start fixing stuff that matters please! like the media player button, the virtual keyboard wich messes up text. An option where when a bluetooth enabled headset is attached the n900 will automatic choose gprs instead of wifi would be great too.

And for god sake update the change log please! or atleast put the changes in the info part of the installation menu so that we can actually see what has been changed and test was you guys improved.
