2 restarts on 500-850 ideal (I suspect trackerd or thumbnailer). Now I'm on 250-850 LV, and no problems yet. V47, CSSU14.1.

I upgraded from 46 to 47 using HAM (as indicated in the first post, I don't know if FAPMAN would work as well..) and it all went OK.

No U-boot, multiboot or any *boot. Just plain stock -> power42 -> power46 -> pali47 :) (that's my N900 kernel history so far.. :)

Re: [Announce] kernel-power v47

So, did i understand correctly that grooveplayer and other things that got problems were not related to power kernel? sorry for dumb question, but would like to clarify things.

Also, how problem with ogg-support dependency was ''fixed''? you mean removing ogg-support, or ogg-support or groove was released with fix for this issue?

Yes, it looks like they were not related to power kernel.

I don't know but generally installing ogg-support from extras repository (not extras-devel), so version 1.0.5 (not 1.0.7~rc1 or 1.0.6~rc6) is great idea, because it is stable. I don't know this also, but I think they updated both power kernel and ogg suport after enabling extras-devel and they solved it by either reinstalling version available in extras or the maintainer of package ogg support released new version which fixed this issue. I use power kernel from extras-devel (v47) with ogg support from extras (1.0.5) and everything is stable and I had not encountered any of these problems.

gotta say i have noticed my device is now very unstable when (even only moderately) overclocked and copying a 2gb file from the sdcard to MyDocs - i.e. hangs/reboots - seems i can only transfer the file when not overclocked at all :o

everything else seems to be fine o/c'd...

I'm in a similar situation. I've been running power46, lv profile, 500-900MHz for a while without trouble. Now, with v47, each time I do something a little IO intensive (FAM catalogs update or switching apps in a heavy multi-tasking session) my phone stalls... I can only reboot by removing the battery... The situation in the same with the stock profile too...

I'm downgrading to v46 to see if the issue remains.

Notes:
1- I'm using swapolube, default suggested settings
2- I have my 2gb swap partition on the sdcard (no swap on the emmc).

Any idea what could be causing the trouble? I can't find anything meaningful in the logs

Generally i agree, but if ogg-support maintainer released new fixed version, it would be that in devel now, not extras, i.e. kinda opposite... Damn, i would love if one all maintainers start to use changelogs with due respect. Yea, many do by now, but others threat it as pushovers... Not to mention empty changelogs, i even saw one looking like smth that:

Version xyz: New version xyz
Version nyu: New version nyu

...etc... Facepalm festival.

I'm in a very good mood at the moment, so I will answer you ;) It's because kernel changed the way of reporting temperature. Previously, when software (the app you are using) was reading temperature, it was already in grades of Celsius, so if it read "30" it meant 30 grades of Celsius. But now, new kernel changed reading so be more accurate, it now reports temperature in 0.1 grades of Celsius. So if you see 298 grades it/s in fact 298*0.1 = 29.8C. Wait for developers of apps to update them, because it's a bug in app you are using now ;) What's the name of app by the way?

Ffs I can't get v46 working. v47 f-ed everything up.
Tried this
Code:

apt-get install kernel-power=2.6.28-maemo46 kernel-power-modules=2.6.28-maemo46 kernel-power-headers=2.6.28-maemo46 kernel-power-flasher=2.6.28-maemo46
I work with multiboot and I updated the .item file manually like I always did

Please provide output of (the commands begin with "LS -L" in lowercase, I guess you know that but one guy I tried to help had problems with it yesterday, so from now on I'm gonna point it everywhere while helping):
Code:

ls -l /boot
ls -l /boot/multiboot

ls -l /etc/multiboot.d

And contents of your .item file for power kernel.

I can see your problem.
You have file /boot/multiboot/vmlinuz-2.6.28-10power46, while your .item file entry says
2.6.28.10-power46. Do you see the difference? ;) run commands:
Code:

root
mv /boot/multiboot/vmlinuz-2.6.28-10power46 /boot/multiboot/vmlinuz-2.6.28.10-power46

Note that the kernel file name after vmlinuz- or zImage- must be the same as a directory name in /lib/modules (which already is /lib/modules/2.6.28.10-power46).

Also, you don't need now files:

/boot/multiboot/vmlinuz-2.6.28-10power47
/etc/multiboot.d/01-Maemo-kernel-power-2.6.28.10-power47.item

As they are for new power kernel 47, and you installed old 46. (or you can have them to have also power kernel 47, but you need also /lib/modules directory with modules from package kernel-power-modules in version 47)

Has anyone looking at the source of v0.46 and developing v0.47 found the cause and possibly a remedy for the reboot command not working?

What do you mean "the reboot command not working" ? When I type "sudo reboot" in terminal, N900 reboots...

Re: [Announce] kernel-power v47

Yes, vi_, that's the thread I was thinking of - it's not just in archive though (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=71127).

It works sometimes as reboot but mostly it just turns the device off.

Edit:
I can confirm this behaviour. I did reboot, from root because user doesn't have permssion to use the shell scripts. First time worked (surprise), second time and device just turned off.

It's nothing massive on its own but might represent something more important/serious. Seeing as it works some of the time, it's probably a software conflict in the shutdown procedure but I don't know how that works.

While on my searching for apps which report temperature in wrong way now, I compiled patched conky-n900, so if you're tired of it showing wrong temperature, you can use version attached to this: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=136 post unless package maintainer and developer releases new version. Time to sleep now, 4:18 in here. Goodnight :)

I was actually going to look at why my GPS was taking so long to get a lock these days... You think it is Power47 related? I also installed CSSU recently, so it could be anything :/

The flashable kernel image in package kernel-power-bootimg in version 47 is not in /boot/multiboot, it's in /boot and the exact path is /boot/zImage-2.6.28.10-power47 (it doesn't matter for multiboot as it searches every kernel file maching on of patterns /boot/multiboot/vmlinuz-*, /boot/multiboot/zImage-*, but also /boot/vmlinuz-* and /boot/zImage-*). If you do command line install, you should first install "kernel-power kernel-power-modules kernel-power-flasher" packages, wait for it to finish and then (as a second command) install "kernel-power-bootimg" package. Or just open package manager and first instal "Enhanced kernel for power users" and when it instals (as a second operation later) install "Enhanced kernel for power users (bootimg)" package (it's visible in ham and fam beginning with version 47).

After successfull installation you should have:
- file /boot/zImage-2.6.28.10-power47
- directory /lib/modules/2.6.28.10-power47
- file /etc/multiboot.d/01-Maemo-kernel-power-2.6.28.10-power47.item

Since Pali joined the CSSU team and freemangordon is providing DSP patches for the kernel and userland to support 720p record/playback.
Does this mean we'll eventually see a CSSU that supports everything?
720p playback/record, USB OTG, overclocking, recovery console etc..?
