Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

If 4 of us are having the same problem logging into Waze server it is probably not a wi-fi or cellular issue. But there's no news of Waze server down so could it be affecting N9/N900 unofficial client only? Any N9 or N900 user manage to log in?

K240 2013-03-13 10:40

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

This sounds like possible reason as N900 client is unable to even establish proper network connection to Waze servers and get at least maps under temporary account. I was looking forward to use same app as my friend with Android and now it seems that it's not gonna happen...

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

Using N9, not working for me either. So it's definitely something relevant to Waze 3rd party client

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

Same problem here in Malaysia. Searching network forever. Is this the end of the road for Waze on the N9?

Hello.
I have the same problem here in France from the same day.
I found a "postmortem" file so if it may help...

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

Ok, now I can't use my waze at all.

I tried to uninstall it, delete everything and re-install and now even when I use the correct credentials it doesn't connect, before this I was seeing a network error, which I don't know why it was happening since the connection was available and working.

I hope someone could help me with this because I really, really like this app and find it very useful.

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

Most likely a change in the Waze log-in protocol which lock out N9/N900 users. If the developer DamagedSpline doesn't come back and fix it it's the end of Waze for MeeGo.

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

I am uninstalling version 0.0.10, installing version 0.0.1 (logon works)
Tat installing version 0.0.7. Such Waze works, but there are recurring problems with network discovery.

I have checked the "unable to login issue" and it seems that the waze server have started to change. Waze on the N9 works OK for whoever uses it Israel but doesn't on the rest of the world. I am trying to recreate a debugging environment that will try to "place" me at London so I can further investigate it.

Important note - after wasting 3 hours of debugging:
Waze has killed their server which deals with some parts of the world for older releases!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Edit: Workaround is now specific to US and the rest of the world

Workaround:
If you encounter the can't login issue modify the realtime section in ~/MyDocs/.waze/data/preferences.ini to look as follows
If you are in US

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

Have to agree with damagedspline. Having had a N900 and an Android side by side running Waze - the Android version performs perfectly and N900 had no routing. Seems likely that the continual server upgrades by waze.com sometimes leaves the older Waze version's protocols inoperative.

On west coast of US I have currently have routing and network operational. This is after one year of no routing. Routing suddenly started working 2 weeks ago.

The revised [Realtime] configuration causes Waze to lock up completely on my N900 in my location.

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

Update from me. I can login even I did not reconfigure anything, so the login issue was possibly just the waze servers issue. The problem is that altough I can connect with some permanent account I created before I am still having two issues:

1. no network connection, no maps
2. even I am able to login to Waze on N900 this registration seems to be not working for world.waze.com or www.waze.com, so I have no idea where my registration was done. Lost password option does not work on these servers, it respond with error that my e-mail is not in database.

Strange...

EDIT:
Tried the new config file as suggested damagedspline and got to the same point as some others. Login with my account is causing the freeze, New user->Skip will show return me to the login choice screen. So far no progress :(

When I tried to check what the hell is Waze doing with old "working" config I seen only very short connection attempt (possibly the login):
79.125.19.110:443 CLOSE_WAIT 4199/waze
After that I did not seens any network communication. So I tried to login with temp. account aaaaaand from some strange reason I seen the map and some message, then the Waze crashed. Tried to restart, seen the message that Waze haze crashed (surprise) and question if I want to send report, click Yes, crash again... :(

kai_en 2013-03-19 22:25

Can someone post the original preference file? I didn't make a backup after the changes on [realtime]

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

After all kinds of experiments I have the maps (uninstall/reinstall/new settings/old settings...) somehow working but ONLY if I am using random account. If trying to register my account after Waze installation there are these messages in postmortem:

Code:

So my account is NOT created and I am not logged in after that, possibly causing the Waze to not establish the data connections for maps as well (but pretending that everything is fine... grrrrrr). Unfortunately I have no idea where and what to change to fix this but certificate issue seems to be related to machine with IP 79.125.19.110 which has it's certificate expired.

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

Used Waze for a while with random account. Result report:

- Waze is working but you can not touch it regarding the account. Navigation fine, voice commands fine, maps fine, etc.
- If I will try to go to My profile and register, the Waze will pretend that registration was done but obviously it does not. Moreover I can not use the Waze after that as it is reporting no network connection forever and I have to delete /home/user/MyDocs/.waze and start again from scratch. There is no chance to switch it back to random account.
- Selected language to czech, Waze replied moment later the voice commands has to be downloaded. Click OK, crash. After restart info about crash and question if report should be sent - click OK, crash. Restart again, click not to send, again question about downloading and crash again without anything else. After maaaaany many restarts it somehow managed to download it withou crashing, after that it is running fine.

I tried to play with preferences.ini to set world.waze.com server hoping that registration will be possible but so far no luck. Therefore until now I am using the Waze with random account, unable to create my own one :(

I have reproduced the new user issue and according to the response from the server it seems that the new user is created correctly on the waze servers.

The problem appears to be in the login which responds with "err_rt_wrong_name_or_password" and it affect all regions - I don't know why yet...

I found out why setting the rtservers in the preferences.ini file worked for me but not for everyone else, it was because i have a small fix which is yet to be released.

Waze v0.0.12 codenamed "Erlich" is out for N9/N950 - see first post for details.

Changes are mostly cosmetic - Does not fix crashes, never ending navigation or unable to create new user issues.

Hi All after using some days this new version I've found them very good and useful to have larger text, the things with this new size are that some things get placed behind and you're not able to read them (example the network status/monitor). And the text in the arrows for when you have to make a turn is also unreadable if using the AMOLED Optimized map profile. So I don't know what can be done there.

Excellent work as always @damagedspline

deb http://repo.pub.meego.com/home:/dama...ttan_standard/ ./
RM696-21-3:~# "/etc/apt/sources.list.d/${repo}.list"
RM696-21-3:~#

Both of these lines should be joined:
Code:

echo "deb ${url} ./" |  tee
deb http://repo.pub.meego.com/home:/dama...ttan_standard/ ./ "/etc/apt/sources.list.d/${repo}.list"
