No, I don't remember him saying that. It makes sense to work on the N9 version first as the installed base is much bigger and growing.

If he is still working with Python on it, which I presume he is, porting the N9 -final- version to the N900 would be like a glass of beer compared to reverse engineering the JAVA S40 version which would be... I don't know... a glass of spikes.

All in all, the impression tgalal had over, is just a gigantic blast. A man steps in, starts a JAVA reverse engineering project, producing code which yields that result shown in the test video a few posts back, in such a small time period is really astounding.

If I could be of any help, my IGCSEs are going to end in the following 3 weeks commencing my summer break, I would love working on adapting it to the N900, I'm a lot into Python.

If you can simultaneously NITdroid and Python then yes ;)

It should be trivial to adapt as you have said, probably move files around and pimp up the DEB, if the python has any harmattan-specific calls (which I doubt) then replace them :) that last part should be the biggest problem hehe

I swear either I am stupid or inventing stuff but didnt you sit your IGCSEs last year?? :p I seem to recall reading that somewhere :D

TGalal has uploaded a video to YouTube demoing Wazzap, his WhatsApp for the N9 app!

But it hasn't been released yet so the website just shows random messages for the moment and his donate button.

As far as I know that is EULA, so long as you do not use whatsapp you must not follow it

of course to test their code they are not using whatsapp so they are not necessarily infringing it :D that is what I think anywhays hehe

He cannot post it on nokia store for those to download it to pay coz the money will go to nokia. He did it not for money those who want to have it may have it n if they want to donate they can n for those who have no money can decide

They might, legally everything is fine.

The only reason they wouldn't is if Elop doesn't want Nokia Store on the N9 to enable users easy access to top apps.. That wouldn't surprise me

Well I guess asking money for an open source product isn't a custom. It's written in Python, right? So the end product is the source code as Python is interpreted. It would be very, very easy to just get the code and change it or share it freely anyway.
There's not really any point in asking money for it, although donations are of course always usefull.

In my opinion, asking money for it is a bit weird. Donations are a better and less intrusive way.

Not if he compiles it to bytecode.

He should charge just to troll you bellbags who do not realise what a sack of crap it is.

Oh yeah, whatscrapp will charge you after 1 years usage anyway.
