DHL says that mine is en route to me now. It's a Taobao-Device, so no "real" success story here.

I really hope it's a genuine one to get me motivated to finally update my apps again!
(Sorry to those of you using them who might suffering from bugs, I hope you understand just a tiny bit. Soon™, you know the drill.)

Just got my Taobabo lottery delivery.

It was the real deal, with official Jolla packging, warranty card and all :D

Updated nicely, and all apps installed without fuzz, even Exchange and android support.

Now I just got to hope I will never need that warranty.

...And that who ever spiffy maintains the Sailfish "Books" app would be so kind as to add some color/font size customization features to it. :)

Well spotted! ;)
Perhaps they are poking a bit of fun at themselves...

And yes, they are definitely a dynamic start-up. One thing is certain: if you join them, you will definitely not be bored.

Yep, that is the usual way to speak of C and C++ languages. They are sharing so much that a lot of tools or job offers mention both at once. (see https://duckduckgo.com/?q=%22C%2Fc%2B%2B%22 for examples)

Also, a lot of lower level libs are C code (linux kernel, gstreamer, blueZ...), so even if someones job is to code for C++ with Qt, knowing C (which is not much more than a C++ programmer already should knows) is a real asset.

It is interesting to see they are looking specifically for a bluetooth engineer. BT LE is not yet supported officially in the current Jolla if I am not mistaken ?

Atleast it's good that no sailfish updates appears anymore. All coders should be locked up until Jolla do what they say which is ship tablets and refund all backers. Then code if they have any money left, and coders :D

I know, but 'usual' does not make it 'right'. That was my point.

C and C++ may have similar names and even a similar syntax but the paradigms are radically different. Especially when you introduce libraries and toolkits like STL or Qt.

Dunno really. C++ is just C with OO extensions.

Well I thought I was going to be lucky because mine was marked as "Bought" for several days. But they just changed it to refunded due to being out of stock. Now I have to figure out how to *really* get my Paypal money back, since you transfer money to them and then use it as a separate transaction...
Any other sellers on Taobao that others have had success with?

I know you are just joking but still... All that coders do is code; it has nothing to do with tablet deliveries or refunds.

Yeah, but do they code for free?
They were allowed to code too much, too long, too expensive to crush the tablet project. Don't do the same mistake again,

That works only if credit card company actually chargeback Jolla instead of taking the hit itself. And we know that In some cases there are Indiegogo or PayPal in between so everyone in the chain needs to chargeback the next. Otherwise Jolla doesn't know the payment was cancelled and paid back to the credit card holder.

Well, i explicitly tried sellers that others did not, to report on them here. so i think the ones that changed to 1888yuan but delivered earlier still have some tablets.
Another interpretation of the price raise could be that there are very few tablets left... Oh oh...

But as i still calculate on a chance to be among the >400 lucky bastards of original delivery, i will wait until that chance has passed before trying again.
Also my 229.19$ (1298yuan) still reside at yoybuy, the 4,4% paypal fee is nothing i want to pay twice when possibly trying next time...

Jolla sent following reply only one hour after asking gently for process details yesterday:

Hello.

It is not possible for us to follow up on each individual case at this time.

We are sorry.

We will do our utmost to honor the order of contributions and invite those that should be invited.

Thanks for your understanding.

Jolla support is completely useless right now. You will get a more correct answer if you ask joe in the streets.

to me this indicates that Jolla have no clue what they are doing, they don't have the 500 more tablets. What I think happen was...Jolla payed for 500 tablets but dident receive them but even so they told us they have it then...the factory learned that other suppliers pay more for the tablets sold them to them instead since Jolla broke the original deal. So now we are scamed by Jolla again, Jolla is scamed by factory and the overall scam continues.

Another thing I fear is that they keep more of them in house for dev/test/demo purposes, especially if they hiring more people.

@Mosen. You should get a tablet since you are basically next n line.

yeah, but i sense f****p and prepare for not recieving one...
I pledged 199$ very early to support them with extra 10$.
No, i didn't, i simply misclicked.

With 121 tabs sent 2015, and 77 2016, i should have been in 1st wave invites with #161.
There are already happy jtab owners that pledged some minutes later than me.
In worst case, jolla only has a backerlist sorted by pledge amounts and no clue on "actual" chronology of orders.
But lets see, i am 50/50 on being lucky.

I know happy jtabber (one of those lucky 77) who had Jolla Phone since 2013 and because of that he had already Jolla Store account. He paid taxes 09/2015 without invitation and had jtab before earlier backers.

Jolla said that they honor the order we pledged, nothing about the amount. Seems that Jolla scamed us and you are suffering extra. Should not matter what amount but when you pledged. Both 189 and 199 was both estimated to May 2015.

Seems like those that care the most get hurt the most. This is worse than a scam. It's a scam scam.

Actually I don't know what a scam scam is but I thought it sounded good!

Been there.
Done that.

You sure have a solution how to power the pi reliably for some hours and reduce the thickness and weight a bit?
I used a 6000mah powerbank and the total weight was still "impractical".
Atleast thats where this hack ended for me and the pi went back to its pibowcase doing Kodi/OSMC hooked to a projector.

Argh.

I have to admit the depth that the candidates are sinking to...
is beyond...
way beyond me...

the lack etiquette ...professional and otherwise..
the lack of any sense of propriety and social grace ...
is going out the window awfully fast ...

concerning the latest ...
all I can say is..
if this is what people want to vote for ..
"are" voting for in other countries...
and is expected behaviour of their elected officials ...
even "desired" behaviour...
1- thank goodness I don't live in such countries...where this is the majority desire....
2- I doubt that there will be any respect from other world leaders ..
(that is saying ..of course..they will even acknowledge said legally elected representative)
3- Rude coarse uncivil behaviour is usually apparent when a mother or grandmother is absent from the room... who would otherwise wash out the mouth of the offending child.

for all the jokes that do come to mind...
and there are sooo many...
I still find myself aghast at this behaviour out of the mouths of people who are vying to run the government of a country full of people who are counting upon their wisdom...

Correction: Anything beyond 4" is stupid for a phone. We are in a tablet thread here. Tablets are meant to be large.
