@Dave999 are you writing for German news now? VW: The second scam
If not you should ask them for license fees ;-)

So about VW I was right. As they have said that the problem had been solved, I thought that this means that they have now improved the software.

Yoybuy twittered a link with Jolla Tablet this morning and found first by napaDokc.

I asked them via email for an explanation and got this answer:

It arrived today. Seller threw in key chain, card reader and case (not lastu). Charging up now.

Edit: Also came with screen protector.

Jolla survived their 'Dead Valley', but pushed others in Dead Valleys of their own.

https://twitter.com/Lastucase/status/708336106870276096

Let's see & hope if they can recover.

I bought directly from Lastucase; quality product and people. I'll probably just buy a case for something else I have just to support them in the very near future.

Do it!
It's such a shame that Lastu has to suffer. Bought wallets and stickers for JPhone directly from them back in 2014.
I follow your example with a nexus 7 case that i will "need" once yoybuy delivers the substitute tablet for my wifes demand.

Gave up on Jtab and will take the opportunity to get into HADK optimization for N7 (Yay, i could actually do sth. usefull to the community this time). They are pretty cheap these days i must say:
2nd gen. Nexus 7 with 4g and 2g ram and hd screen is only 81.80$ o.O

I do not know about Dave but my reason would be that science can be verified. That is the very definition of science.

Do you trust it before it is verified or after it is verified?

It would not be very scientific to take something just announced without an independent confirmation as a fact, would it? That would be the realm of religion, not science. I take unconfirmed statements for what they are: unconfirmed statements. They may be true or not.

That applies in all aspects of my life, not only ostentatiously scientific. It must be my scientific upbringing. It does sometimes get me in trouble with a certain kind of people ;)

Perplexing. I tried to buy twice without success. Since I ended up paying $15 in fees, I have to wonder if they are not milking it. Perhaps too many "scams" in my head.

yoybuy was working quite hard for my 15$.
9 purchase attempts from 5 agents, 12 Chat messages and 6 Emails.

Last remaining scam propability is from taobao seller side just pretending to be sold off, hoping to make big bucks with what they are resting theyr balls on.

And, if you want to go the prometheus route, paypal surely fully refunds if you show the timing of the twitter advertisement and your purchase attempts in a dispute ;)
But on the other hand:

Because...
Science doesn't make moral judgments
Science doesn't make aesthetic judgments
Science doesn't tell you how to use scientific knowledge
Science doesn't draw conclusions about supernatural explanations

Science can also admit when it was wrong.

I think I might buy another Lastu tablet case today. They're available in many different variations than the original Jolla one.

Pretty much agree with what folks are saying. Clearly, there is a problem when you throw humans in the mix!
It does worry me that, for some, science can become a religion and turn into dogma. Science is a human construct. It is carried out and interpreted by humans and as a consequence should never be trusted. Fortunately, by design, all scientific results can and should be repeatably tested and verified. At some point you develop a certain level of confidence in a result and run with what you got. Of course that does not make the scientific based result exempt from further testing and verification. As process it is probably the best we can do to attempt to understand the world around us and it is self correcting. I might add that it is quite possible, if not likely, we cannot understand the world in a most fundamental way, but that should not stop humanity from trying.

Just logged in here after years since i had to do my medical degree stuff.Seen jolla a few days back, quite impressed the way sailfish works. If updates come along readily and there is no chance that it turns out to be like maemo etc..I am definitely gonna buy and try jolla as soon as there comes a swift version of sailfish and equally good hardware.
Currently using N900 as main phone and nexus 7 as my main tablet.I actually am considering to change my tablet,i hope jolla comes harder this year and with better sailfish eg without lags and hiccups.
cherios ! :)

Welcome. Hope your medical degree is a done deal!

No updates nor hardware comes along atm.

Jolla is in Scam-mode right now. Nothing comes out of jolla, except some words that never happens in reality.

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

I just got a 'shipping confirmation' with the tracking code of my Jolla Tablet, which already arrived silently on 29th February. :D The shop order status also got updated to 'shipped' now.

So it seems that Jolla is progressing with the orders. :)

Dave999 2016-03-15 19:21

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

So what do you think happening at jolla. Do they still think they Will do some refunds? Im starting to think that the refund is just another scam.

Time for some scampi and wine.

velox 2016-03-15 19:27

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

Hm, scampi would be the perfect name for a kickstarter mini-computer that'll never be produced. With IOT and everything, for just 1$.

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

newsletter revceived bby mail regarding "our Tablet refund processing tool"

Quote:

Dear Indiegogo Jolla Tablet backer,

As described in our previous blog post we are now proceeding with refunds for the Jolla Tablet.

In order to facilitate this, we kindly ask you to visit our Tablet refund processing tool and fill in your personal contribution information.

This tool will be available from 16.March.2016 and Jolla will keep it open at least until 16.April.2016. At that point, Jolla will assess whether or not to extend for a short period of time the availability of the tool. After this, the tool will be closed and Jolla will no longer be accepting refund requests.

What you need to do:

Page 1:
1. Fill in your original Indiegogo backer email, i.e., the email address you used to make the contribution/contributions. For help with this go here.
2. Add your original contribution/pledge ID that you got when making the contribution. For help on this go here.

Page 2:

1. Here you will see all your contributions, please verify that the info is correct.
2. If you wish to decline the refund, and donate the money to the future of Jolla and Sailfish OS, please tick the box “no refund” here.
3. Fill in your current email address if it is not the same as the one used when making the original Tablet contribution via Indiegogo.
4. If you did not use PayPal to pay for your contribution, you will need to provide us a PayPal ID, i.e. an email address associated with a valid PayPal account*. If you do not have one, you will need to create one here.
(* If you have not used PayPal before, please note that you can use the funds to either buy online with PayPal or withdraw the money.)

Once you have submitted your backer information, and it has been validated, we can then proceed with issuing the refund. Refunds will be processed on a weekly basis and seeing as there will be international money transfers involved, please allow for up to 3 to 4 weeks before you see funds on your PayPal account.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation,
Jolla Team

FAQ:

Q. When will I get my refund?
A. Once you have provided us your details and they are confirmed, we will then process refunds in bulk on a weekly basis. As there are international money transfers involved, this whole process can take anywhere from 3 to 4 weeks before you see any funds on your PayPal account.

Q. Will I get refunds for all my contributions?
A. For Indiegogo contributors Jolla will refund 50% of all your contributions (including accessories, updates, shipping) now and 50% later when our financial situation permits that. This was communicated earlier in the Tablet update blog. We aim to keep you apprised of this over time. And, be advised that once you have received the first part of the refund, you do not need to reenter the tool and provide your details again.

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

Additionally, Jolla has exited the restructuring process:

http://www.tivi.fi/Kaikki_uutiset/jo...a-pois-6532696

So, they have managed to secure funding and reached an agreement with major creditors, so debts won't be cut (li they would in restructuring/chapter 11 type of thing) but there will be more flexibility in arranging them. Some people that left the company have returned and they are hiring. Remains to be seen how long it will take to get things back on track and how much of recent slowdown is permanent...
