If the "Tablet refund processing tool " is only available for a month how/when would you know if you were going to get a tablet?

Same for me, I also got the "Pending shipment" so I hope to see the Mail to finalize the order in the shop soon :D

Well done to those who donate, personally I couldn't have filled in the details quick enough.... show me the money! :p

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

So that probably means the final decision for me - no tablet.

It looks like they decided to ship the tablets without asking if one wants the refund instead, which means that there were no people skipped in line for the tablet (~540 pieces).

I have to admit I am quite bitter about it, since I have been asking Jolla Care about the status of my situation and they were always polite, but refused to give me the answer. Even after the last e-mail from Jolla, they told me receiving it still doesn't mean I won't get the tablet. Why am I bitter about it? I would buy a piece from Taobao in a second if I knew I will not be receiving one from Jolla, but now the price has gone up and it's uncertain whether there is still some stock.

It would be nice to have a Jolla Tablet, but the main reason is that folks are asking me on OpenRepos to release my apps for the tablet (i486), but releasing an app for an architecture and form factor I can't even test it on does not make much sense, as I cannot fully support it. I wish Jolla made a regular and transparent Developer program last year (I'd gladly pay for the device). Oh well...

So if someone is getting a tablet but does no longer need it, please let me know :)

Other than that, could anyone update me on the current situation with Taobao?

EDIT: It would be also nice if we could choose to receive the Lastucase we ordered instead of a refund/donation. Just in case there's still a chance on Taobao.

Well that was a fairly painless process

Got the notice today. If I had not purchased the tablet from taobao I might have consider donating. I still wish Jolla success as they've had many difficult challenges. I hope to supprt them in the future. I also hope they improve their pr which has been somewhat deficient at times.

No, it is not a bug.

According to the info I just got from Jolla Care, if you request a refund through the site and receive an error message and this 'shipping/pending' status, it means you will get the tablet instead.

I wish I got the error message

Oh! Then I may actually get the tablet after all! I got no error, but the review page shows "pending shipment" on my three items. Just when I finally lost any hope!...

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

Got my email, filled out my refund information. Saw no notice of a tablet being shipped, no surprise.

I did not choose to make a "donation" for a couple reasons.

1. The selfish reason: Jolla is a for-profit enterprise and not a recognized charity so I don't get an income tax reduction for the contribution. (Maybe that's two reasons.)

2. When I do make a donation -- that is giving money with no expectation of anything in return -- I already have a list of charities to which I regularly contribute and if I felt the need to donate around $250, I would have sent it to one of them.

I still hope Jolla survives and thrives. And I certainly don't want to sound like I'm making any kind of judgement of those who do decide to donate their contribution. I absolutely respect that decision (as if anyone needs my approval to do what they want).

Donate or not to Donate...That is the question!

IF I only got the refund option when everybody else was fully refunded. That would have made its easier. Now I have absolutely no guarantee that Jolla follow throw...

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

It's your perfect right to demand an refund. I can also confirm a "pending/ shipment" status. And the list below shows I will not get a refund at all, which I am very happy with. I hope the best for you guys, who are desperatly waiting for a tablet too.

That may be the question but I think people should keep the answer to themselves.

Why? Are you afraid of the truth? Everybody can share if they want to. We do not judge here...unless it's scamers

You have your own agenda. Ever thought that not all folks are willing to put out their own information in regards to their decision?

Sorta like how you've never stated where in the world you reside. Please respect those decisions that mirror some of your own.

Right, no one should feel compelled to share their decision or reasoning. Or whether they made a decision at all.

Since my last post, I have been trying to figure out if I've sent thank-you contributions to the authors of the Maemo/Meego/Harmattan apps I use all the time. When the Jolla refund comes and puts a little money in my usually empty PayPal account, I really should remember those fine folks (or make an actual donation to their suggested charitable organization, if that applies). It also occurs that this might seem a little inconsistent -- maybe that's how my brain works, though . . .

At any rate, I hope we can all ultimately feel a little better about this episode. Sure would have felt nicer if we all had tablets, though.:(

No Tablet for me, four teeth fixed in one session this morning.
I'll be drunk in an hour.
Cheers and sincerely much luck to those awaiting delivery now!

Ah ja, issued refund request.
Have found a better use for the money in buying a Kano Kit, spending some quality time and support my daughters mad Logo skills with a little surprise ;)

It depends. I had four contributions (tablet, shipping, lastu and 64GB).
I put in the ID for the earliest contribution and all four appeared in Jolla's confirmation page that follows. But the instructions say that if any contribution is missing, to enter it separately.

Yeah, i'm in the final acceptance stage of grief after filing for refund. No jolla tablet, official or taobao version.

I recently broke my ipad mini 3 and replaced it with an asus zenpad 8. I really dislike android. The terrible timing of that is like rubbing salt in the wound lol. I really could have used that jola tab.

Even though should be celebrating getting that notice from DHL, feel really crappy about all the 'unlucky' guys here (or maybe it's just because of a terrible day otherwise). Since you're in CZ can lend it to you for a while if you want to test 486 build with bigger screen size etc. Still not sure if I'll find daily use for a tablet (jolla+THOKBD work just fine for my use case), though selling is out of the question, the number of replies this thread has guarantees it to be a great collector item

Oh I definitely don't expect anyone on this forum to sell (I would not sell it myself), but one can dream :)

You should celebrate! Even though I'm disappointed I am not the 'lucky' one, I feel no resentment whatsoever to those who are getting one. Quite the opposite, actually - it's great that some good amount of the devices will end up in this community rather than in the hands of people who have bought the tablet solely for its low price!

And I'm glad that they followed the chronological order - it's fair and one can only blame themselves for not being faster :) So don't feel bad.

Thank you for the offer, it means a lot. I will probably try the Chinese route (if it's still open) and then wait for some Android tablet with SailfishOS portability. If all that fails and I have time to develop apps by that time, I might consider it for some short while.

Just so you know for statistics, order confirmation at 9.01am GMT on Nov 19th wasn't enough for a 32gb tablet. Refund waiting....

edit: Checked again, now it says "order pending". System is screwed up me thinks.

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

A friend of mine had 'pending shipment' on his order status, but chose a refund instead. Last night, two people on the telegram group saw their orders flip from refund to pending shipment. Maybe these two events are connected so if you don't want your tablet you may make someone else very happy if you cancel, and if you think you were close to getting one you should hang back on claiming your refund for a little while...

Hello, i have follow information:

XXXXXXX Jolla Tablet for First Sailors PayPal Pending Shipment 209.00
XXXXXXX LastuCase for Jolla Tablet PayPal Pending Shipment 49.00

Remaining 0.00
Refund - First round - 50% 0.00
Refund - Second round - 50% 0.00

Status 'Pending Shipment' means that you are among the first contributors who will receive the tablet. You should have received, or will receive shortly, an invitation to finalise the order in our online shop.

---------

Yesterday after blog post looked like I was going to get refund even though I had paid taxes and confirmed my order already in last September. I heard that at least one status had changed from refund to 'Pending Shipment' so I checked myself also. Like @abranson said my order had flipped. And just now ½h ago I got the message from DHL saying my shipment is on its way. :)

Looking at the other "Shipment Pending" People and the Comments on the last blog post, it seems the invites are not sent yet. I have a similar status and also didn't receive any invite. I guess we have to be patient for a bit more....

So to wait for the tablet and then sell it, or to wait for refunds (half of which might not come at all).... I might prefer the first option.

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

Great.
Glad this embarrassing (yes I felt embarrassment when watching the hangar location "presenting you the Jolla tablet" video by Marc) chapter is coming to an elegant end: Jolla is not dead yet, plenty demo tablets are still around and Jolla does not need to support hem towards 10K+ users, hogging up their limited resources.

By this refund Jolla is providing me for funds to support them for future more sensible projects (port and support Sailfish on Fairphone, for example).
But I am not donating blindly without a clear goals roadmap towards the above.
I have been saying it for years.
Will gladly pay for license of Sailfish, what I save on not paying for future Windows.
Whatever happened to Sailfish Secure? (roadmap mid 2015)
