Re: Overclock the N900?

Could anyone just make one simple step to step guide, How to install the overclocking kernel to 900mhz.

Would appreciate it thanks!

Interesting, a lot of people reported some battery saving.

Is it placebo or you just have a local effect?

EDIT: you sure you didn't have USB attached?

no cable attached, just Wifi enabled and Conky+Terminal running for 10mins.
could be a "local effect"

Just use your head and browse this topic. This same thing has been already asked dozens of times.

Has to be. My phone has been mostly idling for 4 hours and 44 minutes. Few phone calls, few apps installed, xterm.. Most of this time connected to wifi and conky on.

125mhz 77%
800mhz 11%

Re: Overclock the N900?

I installed the kernel app (version 19) that could be found in the repos
But my info is still missing at the About menu.
I flashed it before with the kernel zImage-900mhz, after that my info was gone.

I just couldn't retrieve it back :(
Read a lot of posts, still no luck...

Any help? :)

you seem to be running an old firmware (PR1.0). PR1.1 should be the minimum required.
I'll add that to the description.

I have the same problem and mine reads:
Linux Nokia-N900-51-1 2.6.28.10maemo-omap1 #1 PREEMPT Tue Ap 6 13:21:33 EEST 2010 armv71 unknown

and as you can see i'm running the latest fw. the problem sees to lie elsewhere...

Edit: I installed the 125MHz enabled kernel and associated files. Now uname -a reads:
Linux Nokia-N900-51-1 2.6.28.10maemo-omap1 #1 PREEMPT Tue Apr 6 15:47:28 CEST 2010 armv71 unknown

My phone mostly seems to be idling at 125MHz by the way...

I'd say it's mostly placebo until I see some real statistical data. AFAIK nobody has done any real tests, people just report what they feel like the battery lasts (with extremely varying usage patterns).
