The thing is that there are numerous of diffrent posts about it..I would like to use one tutorial that several people have tried already. So that i know its working =)

Oh yeah, and secondly, I installed this:
http://maemo.org/packages/package_in....6.28-maemo19/

and went to xterm to edit the mhz to 1Ghz, so I did the following:
then I rebooted my device.

But It's still on 600mhz......

What did I do wrong? O_o

I hope anyone could help me with the 2 questions :)

Can you show an output of

cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/stats/time_in_state

while kernel has 125MHz capability?

- Rebooted N900. Any setup under /sys/... is temporary until next reboot. But it takes effect immediately.

Advice - read back this file and check that it was set.

(cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq)

Simple. You stopped reading to soon.

People are doing potential harmfull things to their mobiles and are not even going to invest 10 minutes of their time to answer themselves obvious questions already answered MANY MANY TIMES BEFORE. Damn.

To be sort of on topic:
The changes are temporary you do via "echo". "Echo blabla >" only write a value to some device. In this case the device is a parameter to some kernel-function. When the kernel starts these parameters have some default, which has to be overriden every start. "pmconfig" does exactly this - it is a more simple way of echoing different values to different parameters.

I have Kernel-Flasher-Maemo 2.6.28-Maemo19 installed, yet my uname -a reads:

Linux Nokia-N900-42-11 2.6.28.10maemo-omap1 #1 PREEMPT Tue Apr 6 13:21:33 EEST 2010 armv7l unknown

I'm not too bothered as overclocking is working fine and it should be easy enough to update my phone one way or another. It's just odd.

I feel very dumb... didn't read it carefully.

How can I set this to permanent then? :)
So that it will be 1Ghz everytime I boot my device

What if i am not satisfied with it, How do i fall back to factory defaults? Any ways to backup the whole phone incase if i want to fall back? :)

Update the file /etc/pmconfig
scaling_max_freq 600000
to
scaling_max_freq 900000
or whatever mhz you prefer or dare to try.
Information in this file is the source and sets the
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
when booting the device (same off course for the min_freq).

It should improve your 'idle' standby times as long as you dont have too much stuff running in the background. Keep an eye on what you install and it could make a difference, maybe even a big one but this will differ from person to person depending on what they use the phone for and wots installed.

If you dont have much running when the phone is idle or no background apps run constantly then you should benefit and have spare power for when its needed.

when the phone is active, the big drains are 3g data wireless and screen but it would be nice to tune the device to idle along nice and slow saving mAh's for when you require it :)
