did you install enhanced bussybox shell, if yes try to remove them

why? Have You tested and confirmed, that it's busybox-power fault? If yes, we need to report it to iDont.

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

At least busybox-power 1.19.3power1 does not cause this problem.

I quite didn't understand what you said, so let me ask:

Is there any improvement re modest crashes in last CSSU update. Or it is worse than before update? Also, is there any chance to install debug libraries and to capture gdb backtrace of a crash?

EDIT:
And have you installed libtinymail .deb I've attached here (in a post about 2 months ago) before update to last CSSU.

After updating from 16.8 to 21.2011.38-1maemo1 (this is the version "About Community SSU" is telling me, shouldn't there be a 1Tmaemo1?) it was way worse.

It has become better now after unchecking "enable offline IMAP support for this account" (I see it in German, don't know what it says in English) and has so far disappeared after deleting local cache for IMAP in /home/user/.modest/cache/mail/imap/<profile folder>/folders/

I have not installed that libtinymail.deb afaik. I had installed offline IMAP support from this thread before even switching to CSSU - meaning also before installing 16.8. That patch as I understand has been included in CSSU by July or so.

Hmm, is it possible then that database/cache was corrupted/incompatible because of modest you were using? Not saying so, just wondering.

Anyway, glad to see it disappeared. I would appreciate if you enable offlne IMAP support in a few days and report back if it is stable.

OK. Thanks. would someone point me to tips as to how I can revert to a previous version of a software - do I have to remove the whole thing and get the old one from the interface directly? If installing from the interface, are depends done automatically? Or, can I do the re-installing with FAM?

Just look at the last few posts in that thread where I answered that question. And IDont is investigating the problem as we speak (see the last post over there).

edit: no need for downgrading, Idont just released a new version which has a workaround.

What's exactly meant with fixed portrait wallpaper? Is it now possible to set one portrait wallpaper and another one for landscape?

The fix for portrait wallpapers should be applied on both sides: hildon-home and hildon-desktop. Unfortunately, for some strange reason the hildon-desktop package wasn't updated in the latest CSSU-testing release, so portrait wallpapers are still unusable.

So could you by chance attach it instead for us who want's to use it already? :D

Just wait for next CSSU update, I think. Releasing such important components separately, seems to bring more troubles, than it solves.

Thanks for the update. I have a problem.

I am absolutely sure that I have edited the right file and still blacklisted apps rotate.
Code:

[thp_tweaks]

blurless = 1

taskswitcher = 0

zaxisrotation = 1

forcerotation = 1

tactilepopups = 0

blurless_saturation = 0

blacklist=mediaplayer osso-xterm worldclock image-viewer camera-ui rockbox mycontacts Bless900 conky conky-n900

What could be wrong?

edit: not related to update. Blacklisting has never worked on my device.

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

Long time ago, I've reported a bug - blacklisting doesn't work for certain full-screen applications (mostly games, frogatto, to name one from top of my head). CSSU developer of blacklisting methods (I don't remember, who was that - I contacted MAG first, and MAG redirected me to mentioned person) said that bug is valid, and fix will be introduced in next update.

Unfortunately, it's still rorating, despite being blacklisted both in transitions.ini and special entry in .desktop file. I'm not complaining, but would like to know - was fixing it just delayed, or it should work flawlessly now, but doesn't?

/Estel

// Edit

Of course blacklisting as whole works for me - it's just matter of some programs, exactly the same I reported long time ago. I'm sure that I haven't introduced any typos in application name/ .desktop file etc.

It's the same situation as with "portrait wallpapers": http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...postcount=5415

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

for your update:
Tmaemo1 release has some packages (esp tinymail/modest) that for muddled reasons got compiled for thumb, this causes instability and lots of program aborts.

CSSU team is working hard to get a fixed revision out and running, that also includes some patches (e.g. portrait wallpapers, blacklisting, etc) that were meant to be in Tmaemo1 but for similarly muddled reasons are not.

stay tuned, we do nightshifts :-D

cheers
