That's quite interesting cause if there were, initially about 500 tablets to distribute then only about 100 people still wanted one. Unless, of course, Jolla succeeded with a big order from Taobao! lol So if a little under 100 folks of that 400 decline the tablet I might still have a chance! Well, won't get my hopes up too high. Do you recall where you were in line?

I was out of the first 640 (was it 640?) but a hundred.

This is what they way in their last blog update:

Quote:

"If you’re among the lucky ones to receive a Jolla Tablet, and you have not yet completed your order in the Jolla Shop, you should have received an email prompting you to complete your order last week. We sent close to 400 new invitations, and most invitees have already done this, but there is still a bunch of you who have not yet acted"
But yeah, I assume plenty of people would want their money back now.

Nice :)

Did you get a shipping confirmation from Jolla or the Fullfilment Center in Honkong, or has the status in the Jolla shop changed from "Paid"?

I got tracking code from DHL confirming it was sent from Hong Kong on tuesday, and now it is already in Helsinki with a courier "Out for delivery"

... soon ... :D

Mine just arrived too! Quick. I think they've shipped same day or the day after I completed the order. And with the case I ordered during the campaign too.

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

I completed the order right after receiving the invite last thursday (7.4).
So it seems they have sent most of the tablets around monday-tuesday.

Mine is stuck in Germany, some delay in the shipment
Soon :D

Hmm, I completed my order on Thursday (7.4.) evening, haven't heard anything yet, status still "Paid" in Jolla store.

I didn't get any update from Jolla. Only an SMS from DHL saying they were delivering something (I didn't even think it was the tablet until I received the package and opened it)

Heh, just noticed that DHL had my old address. It has indeed been so long since I ordered that we moved to differnt location (but in the same town)
Called DHL when they sent me message about unfinished delivery and gave my new address... delay until tomorrow

So many delivered tablets... can't wait to see the positives & negatives surrounding their take on this device.

Last day of applying for refund/donation. Make an active decision.

Also tommorrow is the last day for Jolla to have money on customers account or they break their word 51st time.

Saturday is the last day. Today is the last day for people who've been offered tablets to complete their orders, otherwise they'll be offered to someone else. It seems a bit late to me - they may have some tablets still unclaimed by the end of the campaign, though I suppose they could still contact people directly to offer them tablets after that.

Mine has arrived too. 64 GB + Lastucase.
The Tablet is really nice, but I don't know what happend to the Lastucase. There are brownish paint sprinkles all over the socket. One magnet is already out of place. And one of the wood panels was completely misplaced.

The tablet itself is as I told you nice, but I had massive problems with Alien Dalvik. There were always messages, that the Ui doesn't work properly. I updated now to 2.0.1.7 and hope that these problems are gone.

It would be nice, if there will be some nice native games coming for the tablet. I just ordered it in the past to support Jolla - I've never seen a true reason for a tablet. Now it will be mainly a little surf machine for the sofa and a remote control for kodi. I have to see for what else I can really use it.

duesselschorsch 2016-04-14 09:07

Re: The Future of Jolla's Tablet

My case also shows those sprinkles and it smells musty, maybe it got a bit humid? They didn't seem to put Silica Gel into the box, I suppose they didn't expect it to be stored in the warehouse that long...
I'll try to clean it and wait some days if it gets better, if not I'll order a fresh case from Lastu since it's pretty nice and they seem to need some support anyway.

About Alien Dalvik: No stability problems (but upgrading to 2.0.1.7 was the first thing I did), I had to manually change the Android language to German though (as explained in https://together.jolla.com/question/...guage-problem/ ). And I don't see an icon for my installed Netflix app, workaround see https://together.jolla.com/question/...-netflix-icon/

These sprinkles are absolutely normal... nothing to worry about.

If you check their website (http://lastucase.com/jolla-tablet-ca...ase-cover.html) and look closely on the pictures, you will see the sprinkles there, too.

Holly crap, you are right. It seems to be part of the design. But to be honest, that looks ugly. It looks like there is mud on the case. :(

Yep, my first thought, too :)
Maybe it's some special material? Something biodegradable maybe :D

I suggest that you dont bother trying to install or run anything until you have gone through all the OS updates -

I have 32GB Chinese import, - can some one please come up with a good name? and I think I had two large updates and then a small one and then a big final one. you dont have to do ALL of them to get to the lastest build

From Lastucase site that you linked:

Quote:

There is small dots on black cover because in part it’s made from wood, so it’s normal for this product.
From http://lastucase.com/jolla-tablet-ca...over-skin.html :

Quote:

Black wood composite cover part is made from pine fabric. You can even smell a little resin on it that comes from finnish forests. There is small dots on black cover because in part it’s made from wood, so it’s normal for this product.
I think I read somewhere that this case is the first tablet case in world where is used composite wood for cover. (?) :)

Well, it's made out of wood. You can always paint it!

Are your really sure? It's a composite not completely mad of wood. So maybe it's not so easy to bring on a durable paint. But on the other hand it isn't so bad anymore, if you know the reason for that strange look :p. I think I can live with it:o.

Same here, if it's supposed to be like that because it's wood it's ok. :D

That's quite the assumption. Perhaps it came out of pocket and above all, you cannot have low morale at a company so this could be seen as an investment. Regardless, let the stuff play out before making more assumptions perhaps?

Well, I was just joking. But I have ordered 2. The walnut and the curly birch. I've gotten a confirmation of order but I do not know how long it will take to make it to me.
