Re: Integrating Windows Live Messenger (aka MSN)

Hm, it seems that I have found a little bug with the telepathy-butterfly plugin (using my N900):

If you go into the address book profile (through address book or via a shortcut) to someone with MSN, you can see the MSN logo and their MSN email. After you have started a session and talked with them, you close the window.
If you go into their profile again, the MSN field is gone  but they still show up as online/green. The only way I can contact them again is going to the menu and to the Conversation app, where I have to pick up the old conversation.

I rebooted the device, and the MSN email/icon appeared in the address book profile again (and they was still in the conversation app). As soon as I pushed the MSN field and said something, closed the box and went back to the profile the MSN field was gone again...

This does not happen with skype/google talk.
Do anyone other than me experience this?

Sadly I cannot help any further as I only got it working once in the SDK, since then I have been stuck offline. :(

You could try the Haze plugin instead though to see if it has the same problem.

Re: Integrating Windows Live Messenger (aka MSN)

Is there a way to stay offline in some IM services while staying on in others? I only have Skype and Gtalk at the moment, but sometimes there may be someone in Yahoo or MSN, for example, that I want to avoid but stay available to other contacts on Skype.

Also, would yahoo allow the option of "appearing offline to..." while staying online to others? Or invisible mode?

Sorry for all the questions.

  1. Tap the notification area in the top bar.
  2. Tap "Availability".
  3. In the pop-up that opens, scroll through the account list to locate the account you want to disable.
  4. Tap that account.
  5. In the "Edit account for..." pop-up that opens, tap "Enabled" to uncheck it.
  6. Tap "Save".
  7. Tap "Save".

No. On past Maemo devices, people who rely upon advanced Y!M features such as these often use Pidgin.
