Ok, can someone again explain to me what the Hong Kong release was? I thought everyone was outraged because they got PR1.2 first, but now I'm getting the feeling that it wasn't really PR1.2 at all, but a special preliminary version. Right? I don't think the Ovi store was fixed in the Hong Kong release, for example.

i believe from what i read, HK's pr1.2 is just like a "beta" version. the one to be released is the more stable one, and the first firmware update of the HK n900.

Testing s/w is a long and tedious process! Just because you 'think' testing may take 2 weeks, does not mean it will take 2 weeks!

Unexpected problems/issues always arise and probably more so in this PR1.2 release than any other because QT4.6 is being introduced as well as a host of other major changes.

I would not be surprised if it took at least another 2 weeks or more! Testing takes time!

In addition I doubt we would be even discussing this if Nokia were like Apple and everything was done behind closed doors - the only reason people 'expect' and update is because development has been frozen, which should be no indication as to how long the testing will take or when it will be released.

But alas I bet s/w will be released in 3 weeks time before end of May!

i bet pr1.2 has been ready for weeks. it's just that nokia have some bureaucratic way of releasing updates which makes the process take ages!

In fact what takes times is more the following process :

testing ... fixing ... testing fixes, testing for major collateral damages due to fixes ... fixes collateral damages ... testing ... initial fix doesn't fix all case ... fixes ... loop again ...

ps : it s perfectly normal ...
