you flashed a very old firmware version lol
UK version is only available OTA theres no image on site yet.
use the global PR 1.2 version if you cant get to update via app manager

Can I flash direct from the N900 using x terminal, I have downloaded the file and can transfer it to the N900, but I can use flasher as I am at work on a work network!

What image did you flash? did you flash emmc as well?

So I expect to get the flashing [!] tomorrow... can those of you who already could upgrade via SSU tell me how much free space is required on rootfs this time? I could free rootfs this afternoon so I'll have a smooth and nice upgrade experience tomorrow.

anyone else find that the calendar widget is no longer showing contact birthdays?

Also, the conversations widget is no longer working.

What went wrong?.
Not sure what went wrong but I reflashed the firmware first and it seemed to boot fine and now i've flashed the vanilla again. Trying to boot up again now.

Yea, there is something wrong with the emmc vanilla, now it's just showing lots of [][][][][][][]'s


Please don't flash the vanilla too unless you know what you're doing it could cause problems with your device.
