Yes. Yes, I believe you can.

# S: (n) speculation, conjecture (a hypothesis that has been formed by speculating or conjecturing (usually with little hard evidence)) "speculations about the outcome of the election"; "he dismissed it as mere conjecture"

I love it when someone corrects someone else for saying it right in the first place. You know there's an eventual follow-up SNAP correcting the correction for correcting in the first place. ;)

Now, if we could only get more people to know the difference between "its" and "it's".

I know invariably there will be some masturbatory conversation centered heavily around simpleton semantics and connotation as opposed to pure denotation... and personally I'll have very little to do with it.

In the future, MeeGo will be released. In the future, we'll know all of what Samsung will have open-sourced and what's not being open-sourced. Until it's all out on the table, it's still guess work and/or assuming that companies/people will keep their word.

I'm the type that tends to deal in absolutes. And in this case, Samsung is trying to do something that... well is a good step in the right direction. I doubt they will get it 100% right, but it's good.

MeeGo is going that fully open route where the only closed bits (this time) will be hardware specific. That's better than the 43% open percentage (paraphrasing stskeeps) for Fremantle.

People will show devotion to either platform or manufacturer. I'm just happy to actually see that "being open" is finally being embraced by companies and it's interesting to see how it will all play out. Not enough is known to say definitively one way or the other. Neither has been fully release and yet to show all of its openness yet.

There you go. It's and its used properly. I done Mama proud.

Hell, they even open-sourced the VIDEO DRIVER! THE VIDEO DRIVER! Nokia still hasn't done the same for us N8x0 owners two years later. This Samsung device has been out how long?

IT'S ABOUT ITS OPENNESS!! ;)

Oh please. Get your facts right.

a) this is not Nokia's driver, but Texas Instruments' driver
b) TI did release the driver

Stskeeps is "bending" facts.
Most of this 43% non-open is just dropped and not used in MeeGo at all (like callendar and settings etc.). So it's easy to go to that 1% by just dropping non-free components.

We'll see the real number, once Nokia releases Harmattan - where these non-free components will be replaced by other non-free components.
I wouldn't be surprised if Harmattan reaches even higher %.

Did Texas Instruments release the video & 3D drivers for the Nokia N810 fully?

Sorry to piss in your cornflakes, but the video driver you speak of is exact same situation as on N8x0 and N900 - kernel driver is open source (two parts: PowerVR and display driver) and closed source libraries where all the real fun happen.

It's Imagination technologies / SGX all over again.
