Yeah, right. Won't believe until someone posts a picture with delivered production N900 unit in his/her hand.

I can confirm this.

Just called Nokia Online Store (UK) too and was told all pre-orders will be shipped out either today or Monday. Was kindly told to specifically watch the Inbox for the delivery email today.

Get in!

They've removed the exclusivity part from their pages now, so i assume they could be done for false advertising... If any lawyers are really bored - have we got a case? :) hehe

I'm sticking with MPD because I can't afford to pay for a SIM-free handset at the moment, but that's my lot with them, I would not recommend them to anyone else and if anyone asks me to recommend online sellers I will point them in a different direction (emobiles etc).

I don't think Nokia/MPD realise how much damage they are doing to their company when they mess around early adopters. Statistically we are a very small part of their revenue, but in terms of word of mouth we are probably their most important customers. We are exactly the people who will act as advocates for the brand, pass on recommendations to friends/family. I'm sure for many of you it's the same, you are the geek that everyone turns to when they need advice about which laptop/MP3 player/phone to buy. If a company or shop do something to really annoy me, then I won't recommend them to anyone else.

I think the problem with Nokia is that they have this organic approach to customer relations and brand loyalty, they think everything can be done through blogs, forums, twitter, meet-ups and the like, but they are very poor at communicating direct information to the people who buy their products. I know people who work in the industry and they concur, they find its much easier to get direct information out of Samsung and LG than from Nokia.

The point is brand loyalty is not like family loyalty, we can pretty much forgive our family everything but we are very fickle when it comes to brands (and so we should be). One or two screw ups and that's our lot, we move on and find some other brand who meet our needs. Nokia/MPD/Nokia flagships etc don't seem to understand this.

Ok, rant over, I'm just super pi55ed that I'm not going to be getting my phone from MPD for another two weeks...;)

I got hacked off with MPD in the past hence why I went to shop.nokia.co.uk this time.

Fear not (yet). As I said, I won't believe that shippable N900 exists in the UK, until someone actually get one delivered. If that happens, and my MPD order will still say 'Pending Stock', then I'd get quite mad at MPD and their so-called 'exclusivity'...

Because people keeps making new threads rather than using just THE one thread which relates to delivery which I told everyone to use.

So now I ended up spreading the love to loads of different threads. :p

Yet still, if Nokia allowed MPD to run under their branding, I would rather expect to get same sort of experience from both online stores...

I only wish that were true, we are in for a couple of rough weeks my friend - all those posts next week containing exclamations of joy at the arrival of the n900 and all we can do is sit and wait and count off to Dec 3rd

Im dreading it..

I'm really just hoping they are being super-conservative in their delivery estimates and they will in fact get them and ship them next week....but knowing MPD I've got a terrible feeling they might even delay it again.

Exactly, how could Nokia expect customers to spot the fact that the operators for Nokia Retail and Nokia Online are different.

Just to confuse things more, the flagship stores are owned and run by Nokia themselves, not MPD.

ie London and Liverpool.

To confuse even more - MPD is selling contracts within Nokia Flagship Store (in London, that is). ;)

Ok, so clear something up for me please? If I pre ordered a contract in the flagship store, am I waiting for Nokia stock? Or MPD stock?

MPD stock, however I strongly believe that since MPD and Nokia are cooperating so close lately, MPD stock is more or less the same as Nokia stock.

How it is for real? Time will tell.

Re: N900 UK Networks

When MPD first got the N900 I watched it closely and planned on placing a preorder and I followed these forums. every time I visited MPD it seemed liked something was being removed from the deal until I eventually bit.
At the beginning:
1) Vodafone and Tmobile with £40 worth of free accessories. then
2) Vodafone and Tmobile (with no £40 voucher). then
3) Vodafone only. Vodafone PAYG at £392. then
4) Vodafone PAYG at £469.99.

I decided to preorder at stage 3. I thought I'd better preorder before they remove anything else (I can always cancel later) and so I have an order which is cheaper than its current price.

Problem is, I recently went to the London Flagship Nokia store and placed an order with a T-mobile contract too (the one I wanted before they removed it from MPD). My question now is should I cancel my previous order. Since I assume (please tell me if I assume wrong) the PAYG order is like buying an off-line N900 for £392. What makes me reluctant to cancel is that I once read a post here which said that the flagship store offers T-mobile branded N900s which are locked to them, anybody know if this is true? should I cancel my MPD order?

i have sent an e-mail to flagship store london last night to actually find out ifthey know anything about MPD stocking aswell as nokia.co.uk stocking and the reply is...

Quote:

Hello,

We are still expecting it next week at the flagship store on Regent Street. It may be worth you contacting nokia.retail.com directly to confirm their expected delivery dates as we do not have that information at this store.

Best Regards,

Susie

i did actually post this on another topic for UK but I thought it might be good to share it on here aswell.
MPD is a advertising website for the actual nokiaretail so you are only redirected to nokiaretail when you try and buy from MPD. just to clear things up :)

You'll get the MPD stock mate.

I believe flagship stock = MPD stock, only NOS is sending them out at the moment.

I would bet a small sum they will not be sim locked. Just cant see it happening unless Tmobile have a branded firmware.

Thanks dansus, that's what I thought. I just hope that the N900 has not been defaced with a big T-mobile logo on it.

I'd have to send the device back and pay for delivery. Small price to pay I guess, especially if it could save me £78 in the long run. Might even sell it myself if I end up with 2 N900s.
