IOQuake. I got that installed. Ill try and remove it now.

Snaps 2010-01-14 14:36

Re: Maemo 5 PR1.1 released today (January 14)

61.7Mb free, 72% in use.

Just removed IOQuake3.

Couldnt they made the rootfs a little bigger FFS!

removing IOquake3 FIXED MY ISSUE :)

BTW, if I just install ioquake3 again after the update, can I just play it straight away since the .pk3 files are still on the phone? Or do I need to set it all up again?

I had 62mb and it went though fine - other posts and in here have mentioned 45 - but i'd suggest 60 is a nice sexy figure for safety :)

After it i had 55mb free - so lost about 7/8mb.

There are many posts on here about cleaning the rootfs - but i went from 30mb to 62mb by doing a few simple steps
  • Disable extras-testing and extras-dev catalogues
  • <Reboot>
  • Go into X-Terminal (You need the root access app - rootsh - to continue this part)
Code:

Sudo Gainroot
<enter>
Code:

apt-get install pymaemo-optify
<enter>
Code:

apt-get clean
<enter>
Reboot

Check your rootfs space again :)

Just in case, do a backup of ur files, images, contacts,...

Hi there. Since i updated my n900 now i got a white light bliking from 10 to 10seconds. The same light that becomes blue with a sms or orange while charging. What might it be?

I agree!!!
I know the argument about cost, an extra chip etc etc...
But 1gb would have been alot nicer :) - also would remove 60% of the posts on this forum though!

Re: Maemo 5 PR1.1 released today (January 14)

from a End User perspective this is not an update, this is just a fix/patch of their work.
As End User I see nothing new. just some things fixed/tunned.

So far so good. Latest firmware applied. No errors and MFE 2003 works (Email, Calendar, Task and Contacts) like a charm. Winner all round really..

Re: Maemo 5 PR1.1 released today (January 14)

Quite a list of fixes. Shows that first focusing on fixing and optimizing was the right choice. I haven't had any reboots etc. but the list does address several smaller annoyances.

Especially impressive is that Nokia seems to be listening and exchange with community seems to be steadily increasing. Thank you for your hard work.

I also noticed that the front cam had been updated, since the green field is now gone.

One more thing i noticed but forgot to mention in my previos post was that for some reason, my fam guy episodes suddenly worked.

Before i would just get audio and no video, but thats all in the past now i guess :)

Apparently after the update, all the notification lights are turned back on, go back into Settings>Notification Light and turn off the ones you don't want. The one specifically you are referring to is Device On

Re: Maemo 5 PR1.1 released today (January 14)

Hum... I have 53.0M free in rootfs after the update, which I did the hard way (flash). I did move apt-cache because I first tried to update via apt because the obvious way didn't work. The 53 megs are there even after I restored most of the programs with the backup-app I had before the flash.

That is all.

You Sir, are more then welcome :)

I have a brainstorm for a "SaveMe" button if you fancy voting on it - hopefully it will perform a similar function to clear rootfs space when urgently required - without the user having to be too technical :)

There are a few other ways to clear space - but realistically that should help most :)

OMG it didnt update?

It says im on version 1.2009.44-1.203.4?

Any ideas? I didnt get the message which said "Update successful either!"

Phone turned off, then I got the "installing software" and it went upto 100% and restarted and nothing :*(

I just checked the app manager, and its listed there as downloaded. So Im trying again. This time its a different type of update

Now I got a Nokia screen with a bar slowly moving? WTH?

Re: Maemo 5 PR1.1 released today (January 14)

Had to clear up space, but the big download and install went smoothly. (Over-the-air update via T-Mobile in Austin, TX, USA, if anyone is interested.) All my stuff still there afterwards. Some new stuff I have noticed:
  • Better phone log - I can actually see what number my contact called from and call them back on the same number. (No "open contact" button, though.)
  • Applications are alphabetized on the More Apps list. Not just stuck in order they were last loaded/updated
  • Front camera much improved. Still not great, but passable with decent light. Big bar on the right is gone. (Tested with the mirror app, which even before this upgrade would impress even the most stalwart fanboi of other phones.) This should make the front camera useable, though maybe not for quality video calls yet.
  • Holding down the 1 key on the keypad dials voicemail...just like on other phones.
  • Snappier performance, though that may be my imagination...we'll find out throughout the next few days if it stays snappy or was just from the reboot
  • I have become thinner and better looking (verfied by using the mirror app)

I can't update my phone with the NSU, neither with OTA (I have 35 mb rootfs)

I tried to install the firmware with NSU.
It downloaded 165MB, but when it tries to install, it gives me an error (see screenshot)

I use: Windows XP SP3 (32-Bit)
I already installed the update 1.0.1 a couple days ago

My USB ports are not hubs.... (I installed a lot firmwares on different Nokia phones)

What now?
(I rebooted the N900, also rebooted XP.. no luck :( )

I updated via WIFI with it charging via USB.
If you experience a very slow and almost non-responding Maemo after the first restart, just relax.
At least, after I rebooted another time the N900 came out snappier than before.

try optfying python so you can get more space to do it OTA, tutorial is on wiki below

anyone else having a very slow and often disconnecting winscp/putty connection since the update.

Had no problems with the update itself, went down smoothly, but now when I connect from my pc with either putty or winscp, the connections keeps failing or taking a really long time and then still disconnects.

never had this before the update.

Also I had reboot issues before the update, changed my pmconfig back to the original and have not had a reboot yet.

I also disabled the other repos to gain more rootfs.

thats why i have 35 (well... 33,1MB to be exact) left as rootfs....
