After a few years of announcing firmware updates and failing to deliver them on time, they learned the lesson and simply don't announce anything ahead of time.

come on guys clearly he is new to internet forums.

it came out few days ago and most people are using it but you have to get the activation code via post or email.

if you dont have update on ur phone i suggest u throw u up up in the few times so the data can move about so you can get move space doe update.

I think according to curent rumours it is due at the end in the next few days possibly April?


Personally I expect it for the end of April or May maybe start of June.
On the other hand I am willing to wait until the end of June start of July.
If there are any last minute problems then I imagine it will be end of August maybe during September?
By that time it should be publically available between October and November at the very latest December?

most likely it would not be be product code so U should get 1.2 working on both US and EU phones; not similar to symbian phones (in order to put Polish update on US phone i need to change product code from US one to Polish). n900 have just some preinstalled stuff for different countries; should be quite simple to change.

Nokia announced it would sell N900 in Brazil in 60 days. Brazil is not yet a supported location in N900 settings, so PR1.2 will be available before 60 days.

I tried to upgrade those yesterday:

apt-get dist-upgrade gave me some dependency issue, then I run
apt-get upgrade it started to get all those packages from sdk repository. I cancelled the upgrade because it was keeping back lots of packages like kernel update. it would be better to wait for the official release.
by the way I send my n900 to warranty for the speaker issue, hope pr1.2 comes before my phone.

When asked Nokia's CEO said that the update will be distributed to each N900 user. The update is so big that downloading it would overload their server. A free blu ray disc will be sent to each N900 user. The update will be 25GB, leaving only 2 GB of working space. That sucks..

Anyway to get the update you must register your address with a photo of you holding your N900 as proof at:

The next update titled PR1.4 will be 40GB. So buying a 16GB mem card is mandatory. Nokia hates the number 3 so they skipped it.

From twitter: it seems some Nokians are starting to load it up http://twitter.com/luovanto and http://twitter.com/chansearrington but another Nokian said that it was still under testing. Probably a couple more weeks to wait.

i think the first code base of meego will be released as pr 1.2 and **** up every n900 on planet earth. was it release this week?

if Jussi Mäkinen as only just got his hands on dev version then it looks like we wont see a finished public version any time soon.
hope i'm wrong but if it was ready he would have no need to install dev versions, he;d just flash final ver as he can get access to it

On this german IT news portal you can read in the abstract under the headline that PR1.2 will be relaesed in Mai 2010:

This could be a typo. In the end of the article they wrote the relase date is not official announced. :confused:

I think PR1.2 is ready. However normally, an update fixes things and breaks other. I think they're testing it and trying to fix what they broke.
