Download the firmware file and follow the instructions on how to reflash firmware on the maemo wiki...

Because everything is restored to factory and if you did a backup to your pc or memory card they should come back, but this is normal to lose history .

no i had it before. i restored.

every call and sms i make is now not stored. nothing is logged

There is no way this update will brick a N900 because its an OFFICIAL Nokia update albeit released in an UNofficial way so everyone can be rest assured flashing with the new update will NOT brick your N900 as long as you follow the easy instructions on this page....

my cupboards and fridge are empty and I am still in bed after wading through 58 pages!
still not brave enough to try but so excited for everybody!

Official or not, it's like the situation when all the interested buyer and supporter for Nokia in my country wanted the N900 when it was available oversea, but our local Nokia authorised distributor have no idea or any single information despite various inquires and calls from so many people. Just me rambling... disappointment at how things are done. N900 is a great device but it still needs a lot of improvements. Having to face with some of it's limitation everyday and knowing there was a fix for it since late February is a pain. They should've release multiple updates if they can't handle a major update properly. Perhaps they were too busy with MeeGo and Symbian^3. Previously I also read there was major updates for 5800 and recently the X6... N900 feels like it was left out in the cold.

I can confirm that norwegian language is included. Norwegian keyboard layout is also included.

Weird.

The 2009.42 release is around 160MB
The 2010.02 release is 170 MB.
But suddenly this 2010.12 (PR 1.2) release is only 120 MB.

If the N900 wasn't planned for release in your country then that isn't the local Nokia store's fault.

wish id charged my phone before bed last night , woke up this morning with low battery warnings and the new pr1.2 has been leaked for me to try

iam know charging my battery and it seems to be taking even longer then usaul lol

I dont know why Nokia have not released this update i have no explanation but i CAN assure you it is stable, please believe me after flashing my own N900 and for your info i am an engineer.
You will lose nothing by flashing even when the OTA update comes out as you can do that one too.
Please read the thread and everyone who has updated is more than happy .

Does the update come with an easier "restore to factory settings" option on the settings menu..confirmation??

The Skype videocall IS working:

I have tested with OSX Leopard and latest Skype version but the Video from the phone did not show on the computer.
However on Windows 7 with latest Skype version the video works 2 ways.
Tested over local Wifi and 3G. Acceptable video quality from desktop Skype to phone.

Lousy video from phone to computer. Early 90's video quality.

But we are on the right track.

Noticed the Camera starts up with a question if you wish to use geo-tagging.
Tried it and the satelite lock took only 5 seconds. Photo gets tagged with the location. Neat!!! :D
