Thanks to Google byuing Motorola and the following speculation about Nokia getting bought next driving the share price back above 4 euros.

Well, Daneel. What exactly is it that bothers you? Is it that you think that I think I know lots of stuff? Is it that I (actually) know more stuff than you? or is it simply that you tend to write stuff that makes no sense? and when I point that out, you get a little grumpy like a few other here.

Please explain, because I honestly don't know what your problem is.

Nokia stocks have been floating rather steadily around $6 (liek 5.8 - 6.1) for a while now, which is kind of surprising to me considering how turbulent the rest of the market has been recently.

Because he was here when it was still called InternetTabletTalk.

Still haven't decided if I want to buy Nokia stock. Was going buy some Apple stock but it seems it didn't drop that much after the news of Job resigning.

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock!

Buying Apple Stock now could be like buying into .com in 2000.

The last few days I've seen more articles question if Apple is overvalued than I've seen ever before. It may be that the magic illusion is fading as the RDF is dissolving.

So, is the new guy an Elop or a Ballmer? Ballmer (ugh) took over for Gates as CEO in 2000. Gates is considered to have done a good job with Microsoft, when it comes to money and success, yes? Since Ballmer took over, Microsoft has tripled the revenue and doubled the income. This is a rather large Microsoft to start with. However, he did that without the analysts that hail Apple understanding anything about anything; the stock price has been flat under Ballmer. A boring investment.

Elop, also with some Microsoft experience, took over for Kallasvuo as CEO and the similarities end there. As did Nokia and Symbian's growth (in sales numbers and turnover). Analysts seems to understand more this time, not the why's but the what's, so the stock price turned falling rock price.

You can say that Apple has been #1 in mindscape ( = PR) but can they keep that up? There's some wear and tear on the iPhone brand name, and it'll be a hard sell to keep going like today. A good leader may do like Ballmer, and triple the revenue. Maybe with growing stock values, maybe not. Or he may do like Elop and make all the customers shake their heads in disbelief.

Either way, there will be changes.

Actually, Apple stocks go up a fair bit, since the initial chock. It doesn't look like the Jobs news have had any impact at all beyond losing one day's growth.

In Russia, Putin and Medvedev are doing the chair dance, alternating between being president and prime minister. In Apple, CEO swaps chair to Chairman of the Board of Directors. Still full control, less daily tasks.

Edit: who was the previous chairman? And why is it difficult to google? :slow:

Apple is doomed. They will do a nokia in the years to come. Nokia will do an apple and a nice comeback during the same time.

Apple hire hackers so get information from nokia.

Well, when the company founded on April 1, 1976, I'm not sure that they really had established a solid CEO, but Steve Jobs appeared to have taken the reigns of the company--he was certainly CEO when it was finally incorporated on January 3, 1977.

April 8, 1983, Steve Jobs convinced John Sculley to take over as president and CEO. In 1985, after a particularly nasty power struggle, Sculley demoted Jobs' duties and eventually Steve Jobs resigns from Apple. :P

June 18, 1993, Michael Spindler takes over as Apple's CEO. The world shrugs and goes back to sleep. :)

February 2, 1996, Gil Amelio was named the new CEO until July 9, 1997, when he was unceremoniously kicked out of Apple... the position remained open until...

September 16, 1997, Steve Jobs becomes Apple's iCEO (interim CEO.. cute) and eventually CEO.

August 24, 2011, Steve Jobs steps down to hand the CEO position over to Tim Cook. Apple's board of directors say he'll be CEO until at least 2021 (http://www.tgdaily.com/business-and-...ceo-until-2021).

So I guess... here it is?
1976-04-01 Steve Jobs
1983-04-08 John Sculley
1993-06-18 Michael Spindler
1996-02-02 Gil Amelio
1997-09-16 Steve Jobs
2011-08-24 Tim Cook
2021-??-?? ???

Oddly, I couldn't seem to find a proper Apple CEO timeline on the Internet and had to read a bunch of different sources.. so I'm still not entirely sure I got it all right.

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock!

Uhm, aren't those CEO's and not Chairmen of the board? :o

I was wondering because Steve Jobs is said to be the "new chairman of the board of directors" but it seems to me like... he already was?

Can't find an article untainted by the new news, even if I set date filters on Google. The best I can do is find articles that list out the members of the board, like this one from July:

Quote:

Apple's board members are:
Bill Campbell: Chairman and former CEO Intuit Corp.
Millard Drexler: Chairman and CEO J. Crew
Albert Gore Jr.: Former Vice President of the United States
Steve Jobs: CEO Apple
Andrea Jung: Chairman and CEO Avon Products
Arthur D. Levinson: Chairman Genentech
Ronald D. Sugar, Ph. D.: Former Chairman and CEO Northrop Grumman
They're all listed as chairmen, but not for Apple.

Oh, wait, I changed my search around a little. Well, this proves my point;

Quote:

1 of 10: Apple Inc. Chairman and CEO Steve Jobs stands under an image of the iPad 2 at an Apple event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco, Wednesday, March 2, 2011.
Quote:

Jobs accepted the role of Apple chairman and CEO in 1997 (...)
Steve Jobs does not take over as Chairman, he remains as Chairman.

They probably took some Symbian-Viagra.. no worries, it'll go right back down again pretty quickly after it wears off. If it doesn't, something very wrong is happening. :)

Well his collection just lost some novelty value, as Nokia stock was removed today from Stox Europe 50 index, which tracks the 50 most important EU corporations.

+20% in 7 days. Not bad for a company which is about to fail big time. Many think it's dead already.

It's crazy that Nokia didn't drop from Stox Europe 50 index earlier.

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock!

WP7 is more like Windows 3.11, isn't it? Everybody knows it, but nobody know why. And it's about to be replaced by something much better.

Yes, I do believe Windows 8 will be a much better OS, even on a phone, than Windows Phone 7. But then, as a Phone OS it will probably be exactly as unfinished as Android on Google Dev Phone and Maemo on N900. And the next version will probably be released four years later.

After a good month where Nokia has done significantly better than the market in general, it seems they're having a down day again. I'm not sure what brought that. Under 6 now.

Microsoft will not buy Nokia or parts of Nokia. If they do it is going to kill the market for windows phone. No other phone maker will create wp phones if Microsoft starts to compete creating phones.

What Microsoft was interested in is already completed with the Nokia transaction to WP. Nokias fokus on the developer platform QT is removed, this was a dangerous competitor to Microsoft Windows. And Nokia is killing the megamarket for Symbian phones.
