No, it was not thumb specific, though it was exposed by the new compilers. The fix is commited in tinymail CSSU master, so no worries, it will be in next -testing as well. And it will come to -stable when proved there are no regressions.

Installed thumb 14 over KP51, a second reboot occurs, then booting without problems. After heavy testing it seems to work fine. Great work.

Check the problems tab. In my case, when upgrading from 12 to 13 I had to manually remove kcssu bootimg.

Nice, works now, thumb14

How about overclocking what the status on that, can't seem to find anything on it using thumb

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

Kernel-cssu is overclockable, like kernel-power. Install kernel-power-settings to easily switch between profiles. These preset profiles are the same as for kp51r1.

Does
Code:

uname -a
display the same?
Did you reboot after the install of kernel-cssu?
What does
Code:

apt-cache policy kernel-cssu kernel-power
report?

EDIT: just did a power down to change battery since im not using a dual battery in this N900, and first one reboot loop, now im getting the web, conversions etc closed error.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

kernel-cssu is not flashing if kernel-power is already installed.
At least @freemangordon said so.

dr_frost_dk 2012-08-01 19:26

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

Any way to get the thumb kernel up again, all these errors now are pretty ignoring, and yes im still a noob when it comes to this.

---------------

EDIT: just reflashed.....
tried to remove kernel-power resulted in a reboot loop, that's a first for me after 2 years.

So if i want thumb and overclock i have to:
install kernel-power (with settings)
then install thumb as described here

is this correct or should i just forget about OC?

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

kernel-power-settings is stuck in repos madness, so it require manual tweaks to be compatible with kernel-cssu.

Yet, You may as good use kp51r1 (or any latest kernel-power) - thumb cssu is compatible with it, and kernel-power-settings doesn't complain, when KP is installed.

kernel-cssu is in thumb-repos just to make repos containing everything required, + as testbed for Community Kernel. If You ask me, using latest kernel-power is most sane thing to do, currently.

Not anymore. Since 0.15 version it is not require kernel-power if kernel-cssu is installed.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

Per my best knowledge, version 15 got deleted from repos, manually. Lately, Pali tried to upload it again, and I remember hearing something about kps.15 being available from repos (but this time, lacking from web package interface), so You may be right, that it's no longer the case.

Still, I think sticking with msot recent version of KP - instead of changing them everytime one is few days ahead with implementing new features - is best thing to do, currently.

CSSU-thumb does not include arcean's h-d which supports greying out of a window when closed in task switcher?

It's not ready yet :p. IIRC there was a bug reported which I must investigate.

I installed this today, I was using the stable CSSU and everything went well. The phone seems somehow more responsive but I don't see a lot less memory being used, maybe is the new toolchain making it go faster.Anyway, so far, so good. Thanks! :)

Installed it five days ago, it's excellent job ! My N900 is smoother and better in many ways.
There is just one thing quite annoying, it's there are freezes when I use Opera. They last like 10-20s. I don't think it happens with any other app but I'll pay more attention to it.

Well, the way linux uses memory is why you don't see "lot less memory being used". i.e. unused RAM is used as filesystem cache, for good ;). you may want to check swap usage though, it should be down by 20-30 MB.

to support freemangordans post:

http://www.linuxatemyram.com/ tells you how linux makes use of spare ram for caching until it needs it for application data.

in xterm run "free". in the second line, +- buffers/cache, the free column is the actual ammount of free memory.

Well, "cat /proc/meminfo" does a better job on maemo, as free does not display cache for some reason.

No I didn't count the cache :) I didn't pay much attention to the swap though, you're right, maybe programs that before were swapped out are now in RAM and that's why the phone lags less too. But besides that, I have the feeling there is definitely an improvement of speed overall. But maybe is just placebo :P

Everyone have this feeling, and it was answered already, that it's due to new toolchain used for compilation :)

What exactly is freezing, Opera or the whole device. Did you try to power-cycle it, to see if it helps?

@uros,

how about (as root): apt-get remove libqtm-dev
you can try reinstalling again after the update..

No clues for the removal part, but libcurl3 version 7.26.0-1maemo1+cssu1-thumb0 does say it all...
It is the version of libcurl3 from the thumb repository, also readable from the Repositories: line from screenshot2.
But you may ask anyway:eek::D
