I don't think all omap3430's are created equal. My phone won't even boot with the 900mhz kernel, and even crashes while playing video at 830mhz. My phone seems pretty stable at 800mhz, but I guess not all phones will do 900mhz

So... I have re-flashed (including the eMMC) to stock files from Nokia, I have also flashed the 800mhz kernel afterwards, result = Information is now displayed.

All my updates were previously done OTA, but... current version/build had always been shown correctly, possible that a few files were missed?

In any case... What caused the info to 'go missing' is likely user error, will try and replicate the missing info problem if I can.

Not much help, I know :P

Hi People. Firstly would like to say thanks to all the people who invest their time and effort into making all this happen and helping everyone. So thanks.

I'm having a problem setting the CPU clock speed permanently.

I used this to overclock to 1GHZ:

sudo gainroot
echo 1000000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq

but how do I set it permanent? I don't understand this bit:

To permanently fix the limit edit the scaling_max_freq setting in /etc/pmconfig (using vi).

Sorry I know this must be a really silly question. Could someone write down the code if that's what it is? Thanks.

Also is this an alternative way to overclock or better than the first way that was introduced using the Maemo Flasher program?

I would also like to know!

There seems to be multiple ways to overclock by editing various files or flashing different kernels. Is this really the case or at the root of the OC is it actually the same entries in the same file that get edited? (ie. the pmconfig file)

I have installed the kernel from extras testing which is set at stock values for CPU and DSP but allows overclocking using the echo command. Is the effectiveness of the echo overclock the same as flashing a modified kernel?

I set my phone to 900MHz and tried running two different videos at the same time from default media player and SiB, then suddenly the screen became slightly scattered with artifacts which disappeared after closing SiB.

I used it about 25 minuts, dont think it get hot.
The average temperature here in Portugal at this time is 22º C.

Those the folowing factors have influence at your\our test?

Screen Brightness = Set to MAX
Volume = Set to 70 % + -
Only 2G Network (but using only GPS for SYGIC , not data transfer)
Wifi Disabled (with that applet to turn it off)

Regards :)

Sometime it happens to me without overclocking or sygic map.

Reboot and try another time - if disappears then it is yet-another-bug in SGX.

That is correct.

I'm running mine at 750 MHz now. 800 seemed stable at first but after prolonged use caused crashes and apparently corrupted the rootfs. 900 MHz booted but froze almost immediately.

I recommend everyone to check the output of dmesg every now and then. If there are UBIFS (or other filesystem) errors or kernel warnings, you'll have to lower your clock frequency and (in case of filesystem corruption) possibly do a full reflash.

Many users seem to be very enthuasiastic about running at highest possible speed, so I'm expecting more cases of corruption and crashing soon. I can't be the only unlucky one :)
